  1. Last night I had the opportunity to drive a Sant to a local gurdwara for his kirtan there over the next few days. I took the opportunity to ask him what meant by Saas Giras Simran? He explained as follows: When we recite the naam WaheGuru as we inhale we recite "Wahe" but as we breath in there is no vocal sound of this part of the gurmantar as it is gets absorbed inhalation of the breath. As you exhale you vocally recite "Guru". So although you are reciting WaheGuru completely. You only hear GURU! GURU! GURU! GURU! GURU! GURU! GURU! GURU!
  2. Taken from Sukhmani Sahib: parabh kee ustat karahu din raat. Praise God, day and night. tiseh Dhi-aavahu saas giraas. Meditate on Him with every breath and morsel of food. Which lead to the question, what does the word morsel mean coz it's not part of my everyday vocabulary. 1. A small piece of food. 2. A tasty delicacy; a tidbit. 3. A small amount; a piece: a morsel of gossip. 4. One that is delightful and extremely pleasing.
  3. O'wise ones, I understand that swas swas simran is reciting naam with every breath but what is sas giras simran? I've seen the term used quite a bit and was wondering if they are infact the same thing. Can someone please enlighten me..
  4. A kirtania was on his way to Hemkunt Sahib when he came across the mahapursh living in the hills. They started talking about gurbani and the mahapursh asked the kirtania how many shabads he knew? The kirtania replied that he knew around 125 shabads of by heart. The mahapursh smiled and started reciting various shabads which really impressed the kirtania, and said to the mahapursh that he must do loads of sage paths to have such great recollection of gurbani. The mahapursh looked at the kirtania with a sadened face as told him that he once used to be a pathi about 15 years ago, but could no longer sit on the tabeya and read the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Why not asked the Kirtania, there is nothing stopping you from doing so. Anyone can do it, providing he knows how to. The mahapursh began to narrate his story. A family wanted to so a sage path for the khushi of their son’s wedding which had been set in 20 days time. They instructed the pathi to begin the sage path but wanted the bhog to be done 2 days before the wedding. He could have what ever funds he needed to gather more pathis to insure the reading was completed in time. The mahapursh explained how he became greedy at the time and didn’t seek the help of the others so that he could keep the path de paita for himself. Any how as the wedding approached the family asked whether him whether he completed the reading and was ready to do the bhog. Unfortunately he hadn’t finished and was about 400 angs behind. However he claimed had and skipped over the 400 angs and proceeded to the bhog dey salok and did the ardas thinking that none would be the wiser. However about a month passed and the pathi started developing a severe rash on his hands. It got so bad that people started commenting on his severe condition. The pathi knew why all of sudden he had developed such a rash but never mentioned it to anyone. Eventually he visited a sant mahapursh and confessed his mistake. The sant was extremely upset with him that he had committed such a severe sin by skipping over 400 angs without reading them. But the pathi begged for forgiveness and eventually the Sant had mercy on him and told him to do 5 sukhmani sahib dey path per day for 40 days and his hands would get better. However the Sant told the pathi that in order that he remembers the grave mistake he made for the rest of his life, he must never sit on the tabeya ever again.

  9. I heard this story the other day which really touched me that might be a suitable response for this post. A bhagat of almighty Waheguru did so much simran that even his thumb had eroded and deformed from the constant use of the malla. One day another mahapursh came across this bhagat and was shocked at the state of his thumb. After learning that this was caused by the contsant use of the malla during simran, the mahapursh asked what avasta have you reached? The bhagat replied I do not know! With his divine vision the mahapursh looked into the heavens and discovered that not one recited naam had been noticed in god's court. The mahapursh was really upset and said that your thumb has even been deformed by the vast amount of simran you have done yet you have received nothing for it yet. The bhagat smiled and kept his composure, not upset at the least by the revelation and replied, "It is my duty to pray to almighty Waheguru and it Waheguru's duty to decide whether my bhagti bares any fruit.." Tears began to roll down the cheeks of the mahapursh at the amount of pyaar this bhagat had and embraced him.

  13. I have recently started taking steps towards simran and mediation and come across this nice description which I thought I'd share with the great members of this forum. My apologies if it has already been posted before or you great souls already know this stuff... AJAPA JAAP (continuos repetition of Naam/ Waheguru) is the spiritual condition of a person when the Simran (repitition of Waheguru) goes on an auto pilot mode in your Surat (mind) and in your Hirdey (heart) as explained below. It means that Simran becomes a round the clock thing inside you, Simran doesn't stop at any moment, it carries on and such a condition comes with Gurkirpa (God/ the guru's blessing) and after a lot of Bhagti Kamai(meditation) or can also be attained with the Kirpa (blessings) of a Puran Braham Gyani(ascended master). The experiences of bliss follow a path such as this: 1. Jaap (repetition) with Tounge – Rasna – this happens in Dharam Khand 2. Jaap with the breathing – with Swaas – this happens in Gyan Khand and Saram Khand 3. Then Naam (waheguru) goes into your mind – Surat, in your thinking, then it becomes Simran from Jaap – this is a very good stage – this happens in Saram Khand and Karam Khand. 4. The next stage is when Simran goes into Hirdey – this one is even much higher stage when Naam goes into Hirdey – this is where it goes on an automatic mode, this is where the real bhagti(meditation) starts. 5. The next stage is when Simran travels to the Nabhi, when Nabhi Kamal(lotus)blossoms – Karam Khand 6. The next Stage is when Simran goes into Kundlini – Mooladhaar Chakkar and spine – Karam Khand 7. The next stage is when Simran travels through the spine to the brain, and back to Surat where it completes the cycle. This is what the real Mala (rosary) of Naam (meditation) is. When this happens then the Gyan Netter and Dassam Duaar (10th Gate) open s and you form a permanent connection with Akal Purakh (God), you start to receive divine knowledge – "Braham Gyan". This happens in Sach Khand. Enjoyment – Anand in Smadhi and Sun Smadhi is beyond description. That is why the enlightened souls go into v ery deep meditation some time for days together. You experience a lot of things during your Smadhi and Sun Smadhi, see a lot of things, meet a lot of Saints, Gurus, see Param Jyot, conversation with the Sants and Akal Purakh , it is beyond description wh at happens and through what you go when you go into deep meditation. This is the stage when all the doors – Bajjar Kapaat are opened and there is a continuous flow of Amrit, body is always full of Amrit. 8. The Simran in Smadhi and Sun Smadhi continues until NIRGUN AND SARGUN becomes one, at this point Simran goes into rom-rom – every bit of your body does Naam Simran, your Suksham Dehi becomes as pure as gold, your entire body is filled with Naam Amrit all the time. You become Braham Leen, and reach Atal Awastha. These stages are beyond description. Sat Chit Anand Ghar Hamare – Gurmukh Rom Rom Har Dhyae – Nirgun Sargun Nirankaar Sun Smadhi Aap, Apan Kia Nanka Apan Hi Fir Jaap and so on. One lives in Pu ran Parkash all the time and listens to Ilahi Kirtan(heavenly Kirtan/singing)– Anhad Naad Dhunis (heavenly music) all the time. It is just incredible experience. This is when one becomes Sat Ram Dass and is directed by the Almighty to serve humanity in h umbleness. And this is what we all wish to achieve being fortunate enough to move on the Bhagti Marg (spiritual path). If you do Jaap with Rasna your Rasna will become pavitter - pious, by doing jaap in along breathing - swass your swass will become pious - pavitter, by doing Simran in mind-Surat-Chit- mind will become pious - pavitter (pure), and that is what you need t o do to make your mind pious - pavitter, that is how you will have control on your mind - MAN JEETE JAG JEET (win teh mind and you win the world) - MAN TU JYOT SAROOP HAI and you will be able to rise above Panj Doots - KAAM, KRODH, LOBH, MOH, AHANKAAR AN D ALSO ASA, TRISHNA, MANSHA, NINDYA, CHUGLI, BAKHILI, RAJ, JOBAN, DHAN, MAAL, ROOP, RAS, GANDH, THESE THUGS – MENTAL SICKNESSES, and when Simran goes in to Hirdey - and Simran will go to Hirdey by itself with Gurkirpa (guru's blessings) only, and so in C hit, Hirdey will become pavitter - pious and a pious Hirdey will become Mahaparupkari and Dana Dina, NIRBHAO, NIRVAIR and so on, it will start to absorb all the vital qualities of Akal Purakh (god) and will become a Puran Sant Hirda, and will achieve JIV AN MUKTI. The true definition of a Saint is not by wearing a outwardly clothes – outside dress and outside rituals, it is the Hirda that becomes "Puran Sachyara" – completely truthful.
