  1. gur means guru Ik Onkar Satgur Prasad There's only one God, realizable with the true guru's blessing
  2. RAAG SORAT'H, THE WORD OF DEVOTEE KABEER JEE, What use is it to read, and what use is it to study? What use is it to listen to the Vedas and the Puraanas? What use is reading and listening, if celestial peace is not attained? || 1 || The fool does not chant the Name of the Lord. So what does he think of, over and over again? || 1 || Pause || In the darkness, we need a lamp to find the incomprehensible thing. I have found this incomprehensible thing; my mind is illuminated and enlightened. || 2 || Says Kabeer, now I know Him; since I know Him, my mind is pleased and appeased. My mind is pleased and appeased, and yet, people do not believe it. They do not believe it, so what can I do? || 3 || 7 || Thursday 26th Poh (Samvat 535 Nanakshahi) (Page: 655)
  3. I share a similar belief when I was small.. When I was in Jalandhar and other areas in punjab.... I always had this constant thought all the time.. that Guru Ji comes to everyone's houses at amrit vela and a group of people following them... and singin shabad on their way. I was too small at that time but I never could manage to get up either.. I dont recall much..
  4. I heard a lot of people who do like that..... In India the situation is even worse.. There are kidnappers who kidnap kids, torture them and then put them on the streets for beggin And after a month, they go around and collect all the money those kids gathered in their bowls. The state of affairs is really sad.
  5. Great stuff, It's Guru Kirpa on you. There are very similar quotes in the Gurbani, which are relevant to you He alone sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the treasure of virtue, upon whom the Lord showers His Grace. O servant Nanak, he alone sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, O my soul, upon whose forehead God has inscribed such pre-ordained destiny. ||2|| He alone sings Your Ambrosial Naam, who is pleasing to Your Mind, O my Lord and Master.
  6. Totally agree. Is he homeless? then you can point him to the nearest Gurudwara, as its open for everyone and it provides home for everyone...... If he does seva there, he will be blessed by the Guru too.
  7. SOOHEE, FIFTH MEHL: An intense yearning to meet God has welled up in my heart. I have gone out searching to find my Beloved Husband Lord. Hearing news of my Beloved, I have laid out my bed in my home.. Wandering, wandering all around, I came, but I did not even see Him. || 1 || How can this poor heart be comforted? Come and meet me, O Friend; I am a sacrifice to You. || 1 || Pause || One bed is spread out for the bride and her Husband Lord. The bride is asleep, while her Husband Lord is always awake. The bride is intoxicated, as if she has drunk wine. The soul-bride only awakens when her Husband Lord calls to her. || 2 || She has lost hope ? so many days have passed. I have travelled through all the lands and the countries. I cannot survive, even for an instant, without the feet of my Beloved. When God becomes Merciful, I become fortunate, and then I meet Him. || 3 || Becoming Merciful, He has united me with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. The fire has been quenched, and I have found my Husband Lord within my own home. I am now adorned with all sorts of decorations. Says Nanak, the Guru has dispelled my doubt. || 4 || Wherever I look, I see my Husband Lord there, O Siblings of Destiny. When the door is opened, then the mind is restrained. || 1 || Second Pause || 5 || Wednesday 25th Poh (Samvat 535 Nanakshahi) (Page: 737)
  8. lol, I know about these arrogant sikhs at Gurudwara, so I simply do Sewa chup-chap as if I know noone
  9. I have never heard Sikhni, but always heard Singhni, lioness Sikh is used for both male and female
  10. yes.. its good explanation.. I remember there is a episode or two in Mahabharta when Krishna explains all that.. he also explains about the 7 bodies that enevlop the soul... pretty interesting.. but its usually all theory and i dont look into it anymore.. no matter how much you read, no matter how many vedas or how many puranas you read the real thing will always be hidden from you. You have go within.. and find it out for yourself.
  11. True Giani_j.. goras are more willing to learn about your religion. very well written Pheena Ji..
  12. This reminds of me of the quote by Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj "In the process of devotion and love of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib if sleep overtakes, it is then better to fall in the well and die rather than live a life otherwise"
  13. It depends look at the stories of Sohni Mehivaal and Heer Ranjha, they are classic examples of true love, but these days love is just a two-day spell
  14. SHALOK, THIRD MEHL: Serving the Guru, peace is produced, and then, one does not suffer in pain. The cycle of birth and death is brought to an end, and death has no power over at all. His mind is imbued with the Lord, and he remains merged in the True Lord. O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who walk in the Way of the True Guru's Will. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Without the Word of the Shabad, purity is not obtained, even though the soul-bride may adorn herself with all sorts of decorations. She does not know the value of her Husband Lord; she is attached to the love of duality. She is impure, and ill-mannered, O Nanak; among women, she is the most evil woman. || 2 || PAUREE: Be kind to me, Lord, that I might chant the Word of Your Bani. May I meditate on the Lord's Name, chant the Lord's Name, and obtain the profit of the Lord's Name. I am a sacrifice to those who chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, day and night. May I behold with my eyes those who worship and adore my Beloved True Guru. 15. Rehat Piyaree Muj Ko, Sikh Piyara Nahi... Thats a Great Shabad Pheena ji... lot of inspiration in that shabad
  16. SHALOK, THIRD MEHL: One who has no faith in the True Guru, and who does not love the Word of the Shabad, shall find no peace, even though he may come and go hundreds of times. O Nanak, the Gurmukh meets the True Lord with natural ease; he is in love with the Lord. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: O mind, search for such a True Guru, by serving whom the pains of birth and death are dispelled. Doubt shall never afflict you, and your ego shall be burnt away through the Word of the Shabad. The veil of falsehood shall be torn down from within you, and Truth shall come to dwell in the mind. Peace and happiness shall fill your mind deep within, if you act according to truth and self-discipline. O Nanak, by perfect good karma, you shall meet the True Guru, and then the Dear Lord, by His Sweet Will, shall bless you with His Mercy. || 2 || PAUREE: The whole world comes under the control of one whose home is filled with the Lord, the King. He is subject to no one else's rule, and the Lord, the King, causes everyone to fall at his feet. One may run away from the courts of other men, but where can one go to escape the Lord's Kingdom? The Lord is such a King, who abides in the hearts of His devotees; He brings the others, and makes them stand before His devotees. The glorious greatness of the Lord's Name is obtained only by His Grace; how few are the Gurmukhs who meditate on Him. || 14 || Monday 23rd Poh (Samvat 535 Nanakshahi) (Page: 591)

Each and every moment, You cherish and nurture me; I am Your child, and I rely upon You alone. ||1|| I have only one tongue - which of Your Glorious Virtues can I describe? Unlimited, infinite Lord and Master - no one knows Your limits. ||1||Pause|| You destroy millions of my sins, and teach me in so many ways. I am so ignorant - I understand nothing at all. 18. Dhanaasaree, Third Mehl: The wealth of the Lord's Name is immaculate, and absolutely infinite. The Word of the Guru's Shabad is over-flowing with treasure. Know that, except for the wealth of the Name, all other wealth is poison. The egotistical people are burning in their attachment to Maya. ||1|| How rare is that Gurmukh who tastes the sublime essence of the Lord. He is always in bliss, day and night; through perfect good destiny, he obtains the Name. ||Pause|| The Word of the Shabad is a lamp, illuminating the three worlds. One who tastes it, becomes immaculate. The immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord, washes off the filth of ego. True devotional worship brings lasting peace. ||2|| One who tastes the sublime essence of the Lord is the Lord's humble servant. He is forever happy; he is never sad. He himself is liberated, and he liberates others as well. He chants the Lord's Name, and through the Lord, he finds peace. ||3|| Without the True Guru, everyone dies, crying out in pain. Night and day, they burn, and find no peace. But meeting the True Guru, all thirst is quenched. O Nanak, through the Naam, one finds peace and tranquility. ||4||2|| Page No. 644 January 3, 2004 ========= Hukamnama from Bangla sahib
  19. Chapter 64 Yogi Seal Nath tried to frighten Baba Ji with his abstract body Toward the southern side of the Gurudwara Rampur Khera, there lived a yogi, follower of Gorakh Nath, in the village Talwandi near the premises of Dhakki. He was known as Seal Nath. He had created enough influence in that area due to his miraculous powers. His followers would reach his hut with superior liquor or country wine and cooked meat, to please him. If somebody invited him to his house, then in order to please him, massacre of animals and sufficient quantity of liquor would become the fashion of the day. From that day, Baba Ji came in this area, due to his Gurmat preaching, so many people left this bad habit and joined the path of Baba ji. They stopped yielding to the yogi, So his reputation began to decline and this cause of decline had been known to Yogi Seal Nath. Some times he was in agony mood but he was helpless. At last in order to increase his power, he stopped all his programmes and started doing his yoga activities. He got so much expert in these activities that he could derive out his abstract body from his physical body. On one summer evening Baba ji was busy in simran, after the path of Sodar while sitting on the cot outside his hut. Baba ji told, "We heard the sound of Aulakh-Aulakh (A slogan which a yogi generally utters, I saw in the direction of the sound. The same yogi was advancing towards me while catching a fire tong in his hands. I also felt that he had come to frighten me with his abstract body. I kept on doing simran fearless and watching his actions. When he came near, he raised up his arms carrying fire-tong to bear me and shouted loudly that he would throw me out as I was spoiling his followers and they were leaving the doctrine of yoga.." He shouted in a very angry tone, "You dont know how powerful I am. I will snatch all the sickles (bad-name which the yogi used for Sri Sahib, sword) from your necks and then rest." "So when that yogi called bad names to the names of a Sikh, I felt mentally injured. While sitting on the cot, only in the spiritual form (not physically) I slapped him forcefully. With this, his fire-tongs, with which he wanted to beat me, fell down and he began to toss on the ground. He under-went two, three summer souls, and came to his sense and went out grumbling." He uttered, " I never knew you were so powerful. In misunderstanding, I came to collide with you. Now Iam forceless, I shall leave my place and would go to some other place." Saying such words he went out and he never attacked again. After some days, Baba Ji sent sent one of the devotee to enquire about the yogi whether he was there or went somewhere else. The farmers who were ploughing their fields in the nieghbourhood told that Yogi Seal Nath had gone to some unknown place without informing anybody and his devotees were searching for him taking bottles of liquor with them (after a few months it came to be known that Yogi Seal Nath had set up his new Dera at village Nangal Ishar (P.S. Hariana, Hoshiarpur). When that devotee came and told Baba Ji, the humble servant (Sewa Singh Sant) was there. Baba Ji uttered only these words "He had to go". In the later stage , when Baba Ji was free in vacant mood, he told the above mentioned incident and said "No force or miraculous of any sort can effect a Gursikh but a Gursikh should be true Gursikh in a real sense. Then the Great Guru shelters him. As ordered in Gound 5th Guru, page-868 And Swayas 4th Guru, page-1399 The persons who surrender completely to the Almighty, the Almighty gives them complete shelter and security.
