  1. neat topic n thread u have started K4ur n dont ever think your alone in feeling that way.. life is a test.. and each day life itself will teach you how to cope with it.. as Steel bangle mentions getting up early and doing your paath is a great starting point to carry the flame burning.. its all a start and also trust urself.. things wont change overnite, sometimes there will b times when you have your doubts and moments of loneliness, (i started a thread about this in the general forum) as many ppl have mentioned take one step towards God and he will take a 1000 steps towards you.. Believe I asked God for a reason to live I asked for the reason we exist I asked for someone to call my own Someone to share life and its experiences with I asked God to bless me with a dream One day, God replied and he said Believe my child and the world is yours For I have blessed you with all I have Made you in my own image Never, he said stop believing And one day it will all be yours For you have the power within It’s all down to discovering how it works thats one of mah favest pieces.. never stop learning.. n believing.. im that lil bit older than you and i have only begun learning more and more each day.. naam simran is also a great tool in learning to control you mind and your thoughts.. again tho this is a arduos path and inevitably you may have your moments of doubt but as each day goes by you will b the that lil bit closer.. it takes us from 1-16 to gain a secondary education and from there another 5 years to leave university and get a degree.. thats 21 years in total.. but it takes us many life times learning and believing the Guru's word.. dont b disheartened.. when u feel alone.. jus do what it is you can do to lift ur spirits..
  2. some really interesting comments regarding the Kachera.. i think also it has something to do with promoting abstinence from sex b4 marriage.. and to make sure you only pro-create with the one you are married to.. thats jus something i have remembered.. from readin somewhere.. its the comfort and modesty thing.. and as a uniform.. a cpl of years ago there was a Namdhari Hockey team who played all their matches in the Kachera and white t shirts..
  3. its something i was born into.. my parents and all my immediate family are namdhari sikhs and so am i.. each day i set out to learn that lil bit more about our faith and a lil bit at a time i learn.. and each and every day I thank God for blessing me with the oppurtunity i have today.. to learn and really experience life..
  4. i can really relate to what Steel bangle has said in his post.. i also only live five mins away from the gurdwara and have been regularly attending since i was a lil kid.. i think in general u cannot force n e thin on n e 1, because eventually if you do it the wrong way then there is always a chance it will totally blow up in ur face when your kids reach a certain age.. believing comes from within.. but u can help your kids to learn, to educate and surround them with positive examples of sikhism, like someone said once the flame is lit, then it very rarely is exstinguished.. fatherhood does scare me and its something which drives me further and further to learn about my faith, because i believe its something i really want to pass onto my children and if i myself dont know anything what am i going to teach my children.. i lay my prayers at Gods door and hope he blesses my children with the same belief he has blessed me with..
  5. some ppl have raised some excellent points regarding death and karma, re-incarnation etc. the one ultimate truth we have in our life is death.. and the suffering and happiness we have in our many lifetimes is eventually all evened out.. to phrase it more simply, (i do apologise if some ppl may find this a lil to flippant) but in our life we do and suffer and earn 'brownie points' to attain ultimate salvation.. the pain ur masser may have felt, for all we know he may have been suffering that pain in order to join God in heaven, to escape from an uneeded next janaam.. i remember my father telling me of how his father never ate a bean in his last 3 months because he had paid all his dues and if he had eaten, he would have been in debt which he would have had to come back to fulfill..
  6. i think its jus a sign of our times that people find it ezier to move away from faith and religion.. and join the rest of the crowd.. whether its funny is debateable, or mayb mearly jus a bit tragic that ppl have lost their way to such a degree.. again tho i think God is ulimately in control of all things that surround us and mayb there is a reasoning behind it all and we are yet to truly understand how the bigger picture works.. huna.. its a lot ezier swimming with the tide than against it but thats what seperates then men from the boys n the ladies from the girls..
  7. thats an excellent s a.. well done to the guy..
  8. yea warrior.. Musik.. especially sangeet can be an excellent tonic for a tired mind.. classical sangeet is the best.. i understand ur point to mugermach singh.. but again as humans i think we all have times where we are not totally 100% hence to prepare for these times we shud have a strategy in place to keep our mind focused and occupied.. in mah opinion that is.. when u accept a problem then u can develop means as to deal with it.. huna..
  9. u can produce scientific research for and against eating meat and fish till the cows come home.. the reason i choose not to eat meat is because my Satguruji has said not to.. in sikhism i believe the word of the Guru is above everything else in this world..
  10. nice one warrior.. yea the asa di war dha vela is a really peaceful n wonderful time.. generally when i feel like this.. i have lots of things in do.. keep mah activities varied hence i save mahself fromt he boredome that sometimes causes this feeling.. i think in a sense the feelings is there to keep you on your toes and never to let the thirst for knowledge die in your soul.. the restlessness, that sometimes can be felt, just drives you on to keep searching and adding to your knowledge.. things i do.. - go for a walk - read, varied material, history books, fiction, magazines n newspapers - research, anything from articles to history there is so much knowledge out there and its frightening at times the thought that we know so little.. but its all good.. tru say steel bangle.. goin to the gurdwara is great, try and go most weekends, normally saturdays.. jus keep ya mind occupied..
  11. inspiration.. and belief.. we all have our moments of doubt and sadness.. just a general query about what ppl do when they just feel so overwhelmed and tired of the constant problems that life brings upon us.. :?
