  1. The discussion on tapoban forum is quite interesting. I was not aware, that Kharag Singh is fighting on the evil side against goodnes.
  2. The whole battle is an epic. It also includes shiva etc. Epic of dimensions. It’s not historical
  3. https://www.scribd.com/document/91862387/Updesh-6th-Patshahi-SriGuruHarGobinmdJi-Maharajh
  4. No he was not a historian as such. He was a compiler of stories, he is not analysing them or giving historical validity to the things he narrate. So compiler, poet, scriptural commentator and translator would be better suited terms for him
  5. Kavi Santokh Singh was merely an orator and compiler of stories. He used the material around him from different Janam sakhis and gurbilas writings and complied them all into one big scripture. And in some cases he travelled around and got stories from local people in villages whose ancestors had met the gurus. Then he wrote those stories down etc. So in essence, he was merely a compiler rather than someone who made up stories about the gurus. The panj sau sakhi is said to have been his main inspiration when it comes to guru gobind singh
  6. What does the the Gian Prabodh say about that subject ? Interesting.
  7. How much of the Khasatriya marayada and culture was adapted by the Khalsa? I can think of Jhatka Singh wearing royal dastaars Shastar Puja
  8. As chatanga mentioned, Muslims are mentioned in it which means it’s not a part of the original version.
  9. Nidar has a lot of knowledge on khashatrya traditions. As many charitars deal with rajputs it will be interesting to read his commentary on those that deal with rajput rulers and chiefs. Im planning to buy the book within a few days.
  10. Yeah that was from one of the census reports from the late 1800s. But that was killings at birth. Not in order to save them from rape etc. Some people say that Sati emerged amongst the rajputs as a way for females to avoid being taken as slaves by the Arab forces
  11. I've never heard of such, but interesting question
  12. Please share your findings on Bhai Gurdaas Varan.
  13. Interesting perspective. How are you finding the analysis so far? Is it deep and enlightening or just basic?
  14. Giani Sant Singh in the early 1800s also wrote a document on how to perform Amrit sanskaar
  15. Check the Gurbilas Patshahi 6. I heard it covers a lot of the maryada of the Akal Thakht and Harimandir Sahib
  16. Problem of the panth today. Dont value learning but waste money on crap instead.
