Guru Sahib uses the metaphor of the human being being a female who has done a lot to make her self attractive to the her husband the lord and hopes that she will be pleasing to her husband and hence her husband will sleep with her and thus bring her love and peace.....The spiritual meaning is that a religious man has done all sorts of religious rituals merits ie, control of senses, meditation, nitnem, rehat, morning ablutions, evening aarti, fasts, pure vegetarian diet, etc etc, but if he has not obtained spiritual bliss then all this is fruitless.
