  4. To understand the significance of Islam in sikhi, just consider the amount of times any reference appears in bani, ill give u a hint, very little. In the praise of Guru Maharaj many times there are references to the fact that it was Guru Sahib himself, i.e. guru sahibs power, working through different avtars etc in various great historical moments such as decieving the king baal in the form of a dwarf. Correct me if im wrong but I don't personally remember a single instance where the same sort of praise is given using an islamic figure. I'd be interested to see if there is but I don't really think so. therefore the idea that Guru Nanak could be mohammed in a new life, aside from being simply blasphemous is not in the least bit backed up by bani.
  5. JESUS CHRIST, MOHAMED SAHIB AND BHRIGU RISHI JI APPEAR IN A VISION One day Baba Ji was in deep meditation when Jesus Christ, Mohammed Sahib and Bhrigu Rishi Ji together, appeared before him. Their faces were radiant and had spiritually bright auras around their heads. After blessing Baba Ji with this vision Hazrat Mohammed Sahib Ji spoke, ‘‘You are blessed and truly fortunate to whom Guru Nanak Dev Ji has shown the direct and easy method to attain enlightenment of Almighty God especially in this age of kalyug. The followers of the Great Guru Nanak Dev are not deriving the full benefit of his teachings.” After this, Bhrigu Rishi Ji spoke, ”In our times, we had to undergo hard penance and rigorous spiritual austerities in order to achieve enlightenment. The whole life of a man was spent in meditation and making offerings to God and even then, union with God was hard to achieve. The true nectar of naam which great Guru Nanak Dev Ji has brought for his Sikhs is remarkable; even we could not obtain this boon of naam. No doubt we amassed great spiritual and miraculous powers through rigorous meditation and penance, including powers to curse or bless anyone, but we were still deprived of the nectar of naam.” Jesus Christ just said simply, ”It is my inner desire that my followers one day adopt the path shown by great Guru Nanak Dev Ji.” Saying these words, all three prophets disappeared.
  6. Taken from: http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/41588-bachitter-natak-on-muhammad/ http://www.gurmarag.net/SikhAwareness/Audio/13_Panna_140_-_Salok_Mahalla_1_-_Mihar_Maseet_Sidhak.mp3 I havent listened to the audio link but a summary given by UKGupt Kaur is very informative: "one bit of the mp3 summarized: A fakir/ a sadhu used to sent letters to mohammad. This letters were collected from different parts like mecca, medina and other villages. When people used to ask where this letter came from, mohammad used to say from God. When this letters were completed ,the fakir/sadhu informed mohammad that he wanted to visit him. Mohammad told his followers that a shaitan (satan) will be visiting and would be claming that the letters are from him. AND TO KILL HIM. So Mohammad basically got this sadhu murdered to claim himself as the real sadhu/prophet. " Also the post by 'Jai Tegang!' "True circucision is "sharam" according to gurbani. Expanding on this, Santji says that abstaining form vices is the real sunnat, as opposed to altering God's form by removing skin. Bhagat Kabir Ji is asked by locals to also have sunat done (since they were raised by muslim parents and society expected them to follow Islamic priciples). Bhagat ji replies that if Allah wanted me to have sunnat, it will happen by itself, just like it is claimed that Porphet Mohammed had sunnat naturally. Sant ji also describe the origins of circumcision, mustache trimming and wearing of short sleeve tunics by muslims. So the stroy goes... - Abraham is visited by an "apachhar" (which I believe translates to a heavenly sent beautiful women), whom he wishes to marry. The apacchar sets the condition that he must divorce his wife and never touch her again. If He is ever to touch her (have a relationship with her), then she will punish him. All of this written in a contract between Abraham and the apachhar. - One day Abraham's wife (who was living at her parents home now) tricks Abraham into visiting her claiming she's on her deathbed. Upon arriving, he sees her fully well and dressed seductively. Abraham loses his vow and does bhog with her. -Apachhar finds out and cuts his foreskin. Santji also tells the other version of this story. - One of Abrahams disciples brings his son to the prophet to complain that his son doesn't bring his wife back home. Abraham instructs him to listen to his father, upon which the son tells abraham to do the same (as Abraham had also sent off his wife). -Abraham's wife sets puishment conditons for her return. Abraham requests her to go easy as he is her husband. So she circumcises him, trims his mustache, cuts his kesh, and tears off his tunics sleevs to the elbows. for 40 days Abraham lays in pain, after which he orders all his followers to follow the same as it's the command of God. Interestingly, Santji also states that Kabba was originaly a Shiv Mandir. Good to know what our sampardas view of history is like. "
  7. They wrongly criticise us, anyone who studies science knows what the basic purpose of pubic hair is. There is nothing unhygenic about it, as long as you shower daily like we are told to do. Muslims defy science and call anything their prophet said is unhygenic unhygenic, even when science or common sense says its fine... yet they have no problem with cousin marriage lol. Why one earth would you question and try to fit sikhi based on acceptability to other faiths? who gives a tutti if the muslamans criticise it? Its not like they have the truth.
  8. nvm i found it here http://www.gurmat.info/sms/smspublications/essaysonsikhvalues/attainments/ SUPERNATURAL POWERS 1. Ridhi-Sidhi - These are supernatural powers, and include Ridhi, Sidhi, Nau-Nidhi, Budhi, and Mukti - Ridhi It is attainment, success, progress, and affluence. Literally, Ridhi also means cooked-food. The practitioner of the Naam becomes widely known (influential), and the people start bringing him or her all sorts of foods, eatables, gifts, and other commodities - one of his attainments. Sidhi Occult, i.e. supernatural powers. One can be present at more than one places at one and the same time, can make prophesies, become invisible, get power to fly, can make things happen, bless (and curse) others, produce things from nowhere, bring back life to the dead, and solve problems of the others. His or her Hamzad (astral-self) can separate from the gross body and visit places etc. Such powers come naturally as well. Power to change his body with another on verge of the other’s death, can develop. Some may get the power to die at will, and even of automatic self-immolation of his or her dead body. The practitioner does not usually long or work for them. He is not supposed to display his or her prowess. Moreover, these are considered to be of no great merit, are interference in the Lord’s plans, and are a hindrance in the God realization. These do not lead to emancipation - Ridh-e sidh-e sabhu mohu haae Naamu naa vassaae Manne aa-ae Supernatural powers are attachments, These do not permit the Naam to get set in the mind. 5-593-18 Sidhis are 18. (Shabdarath, S,G,P.C., 1986, Page 10). Major Sidhis These are eight - Anima - ability to become very small, minute. Mahema - to become big, gain colossal size. Garima - to become heavy, gain an excessive weight. Laghima - to become light, subtle. Praptee - to get success, achieve goals, and get fulfilled. Prakamya - to read the minds of other people. Eeshita (Isatva) - lordliness, and power to persuade others. Vashita (Vasitva) - to control other’s mind. Self control - control over all senses. Minor Sidhis These are ten - Door-Darshan - to see all, clairvoyance. Door-Sarvan - to hear all, clairaudience. Par-Kaya Parvesh - ability to enter other’s body. To rejuvenate, he may discard his own old body and enter that of a (dying) young person. Annuram - freedom from hunger and thirst. Kaamroop - adopt desired form, ability to change the form to that of another person. Savichhatt-Mirtu - to die at will, to die the way one wants to. Sankalap Sidhi - to get desires fulfilled, to have all that one wants. Apprittehatt-Gatee - ability to go anywhere without any hindrance or obstruction. Mano-Veg - to go anywhere at the speed of thought. Sur-Kareer.a - to have enjoyment along with gods, to join them in enjoyments (merry making). Nau-Nidhi Nidhis are nine types of treasures - (Page 506, Gur Shabad Ratnakar, Kahn Singh, Bhasha Vibhag, 1960. Shabdarath, S,G,P.C., 1986, Page 10). Padam-Nidhi - attainment of sons, grand sons, gold, silver, i.e. the precious metals. Mahan-Padam - one gets diamonds, rubies and other gems and jewels (precious stones). Kharab - riches of all kinds. Kund - trading in gold. Nil - trading in precious stones, jewels, and gems. Sankh - delicious eatables (Procuring from nowhere). Kachhap - clothes and food-grains in abundance, no shortage. Mukund - mastery in arts, music, and poetry. Makar - gives the art of using weapons and sovereignty on others. Nidhis give property, products of land and sea, servants, health, wisdom, animals and conveyance etc. An adept gets accepted, respected, and honored by everyone. The people start giving him each and every thingimaginable. Budhi Wisdom. He becomes a Brahm-Giani: one with the knowledge about God - a realized person. This confirms the practitioner into - Bharosa - faith. A deep faith and dependence on God. A firm faith in Waheguru (God) is the first and the foremost experience of the practitioner of the Naam-Jaap. He becomes a firm believer that God is one and there is none other like Him, He is the Creator, Doer, everywhere, Omnipotent and every thingis under His will. Leenta - an absolute attachment (absorption) to God. Santokh - contentment (on destiny). Detachment - from the dear ones and the worldly possessions. Hukam - acceptance of the will of God. It is total surrender to Him. Sehj - equilibrium, equipoise. Anand - perpetual delight, permanent joy. Vismaad - ecstasy: Joy plus wonderment, forgetting the self. Nadar - benevolence of God. He believes in the mercy of God as an instrument of his attainments, and that his own efforts mean nothing. This attitude keeps him free from ego. His efforts are needed to make him fit for the mercy of God. 2. Mukti or Moksh Liberation from the worldly attachments, transmigration, and from the cycle of birth and death (reincarnation). These are the characteristics of a Mukat (emancipated, liberated person). 3. Char-Padarath - Four boons These are - Dharam, Arath, Kaam, and Moksh. These four are the usual goals of life for everyone - an ethical discipline of life, assets to fulfill the needs, marriage and children, and in the end liberation. Dharam - discipline. Understanding of his or her duties i.e. virtues (ethics). Arath - assets. He or she has no dearth of money - precious metals, pearls, and stones. Gets all the wealth. Kaam - desires. His or her all desires get fulfilled and it covers marriage and children. Moksh - redemption (liberation). He or she attains emancipation. 4. Traaekaal-Drishti, Vaak-Sidhi - Traaekaal Drishti - Triple-Vision (three-dimensional), all knowing. He can see (know) all that happened in the past, is going on now, and will come tomorrow (omniscient). The powers of intuition and prophecy develop, he will know things before these happen, can make predictions and foretell his own end. These experiences should be taken as indicators of progress. Boasting about them creates an ego, which hinders further advancement of the practitioner. Commonly, the people think that these should be kept secret. Of course, one should share these only with the right persons. Such things motivate others to do the Naam-Jaap. The Guru advises to recite His name and to attach others to do so. Vaak-Sidhi - Whatever he or she says, comes to pass (happens). It is generally advised that anyone practicing the Naam, should never let anything unwanted escape from his or her mouth. 5. Samm-Drishti, Turi-aa-Avastha Samm-Drishti - No discrimination. Everyone is one and the same to him. He perceives God in every thingand everyone. Turiyaa Avastha - Chautha-Padd (Fourth Dimension) - Going higher to the three states of Maya (mundane, the worldly things) i.e. ego, evil and virtue. The world is a play of these three dimensions. Turiaa Avastha means the Fourth State i.e. detachment from these three characteristics of the world, and transcending them (Transcendental Meditation). 6. Deh Abhav One feels that one’s body is no more. The body-sense disappears. With the Naam-Jaap, one rises to such a level of absorption in God that one has no more to do with the body. When there is no body sense, there is no affliction or pain. He or she gets detached from the physical existence, and goes above the fear of disease and death. There is no disease or death for such a realized person. To keep him or her alive, others have to take his or her care.
  9. I remember once reading a list with all the ridhi sidhis, does anyone have it?
  10. The Sikh battle maryada cannot be compared in anyway to that of any other army or religion, this is the army of Akaal Purakh himself, made up of warriors who have become one with that Akaal. Taken from: http://www.tapoban.org/phorum/read.php?f=1&i=115680&t=115680&v=t Bir Ras & Shahidi: Guru Dashmesh Jee's Khanda Philosophy Sri Guru Dashmesh Patshah’s Khanda Philosophy By Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh in “Gurmat Vichaar” The fearless state of “parupkaar” or beneficence is the pinnacle of naam maha-ras kamaiee. Only after reaching this state can someone be a par-upkaari (person dedicated to help others). Those whose spiritual state, through the power of meditation and baani, becomes such that it is beyond the body; those who make their jeevan rise above the self with spiritual power; those who are intoxicated with naam ras and have transcended their body and whose personal bhagti kamaiee is such that: ਕਬੀਰ ਤੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੂ ਹੂਆ ਮੁਝ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਾ ਨ ਹੂੰ ॥ ਜਬ ਆਪਾ ਪਰ ਕਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਇਆ ਜਤ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਤ ਤੂ ॥੨੦੪॥ The meaning of the above vaak applies to them; those in whose every pore chardi kala bir ras is rising in waves, only that person can be a par-upkaari. The meaning of having this bir ras for par-upkaar is that if in front of them there are atrocities being inflicted on the weak, dharma is being insulted, injustice and tyranny are happening, they will have the instinct to protect the weak and defend the faith. But in this instinct, there is not even a trace of enemity or anger or ego. This instinct is the desire to sacrifice the body, mind, wealth and everything else. Only then can we know that true bir ras for par-upkaar has been born. As this bir ras works inside, the naam khanda begins to vibrate with double the intensity. Inside this naam khanda is beating and outside, the sarblohi khanda is moving and destroying the tyrants and opposition. The internal connection to naam is not broken for even an instant: this is the mark of a bir-ras coloured par-upkaari warrior. Sri Dashmesh jee says the following about this avastha: The par-upkaari warrior has no fear of death and doesn’t care about dying. He is not afraid of an army of hundreds of thousands facing him. He is jeevan mukat and those whom he dispatches with his sword, he gives them the sherbet of shahidi and makes them immortal. He then himself becomes a shahid. No one dies by his hand, instead, those who become a sacrifice for his Sri Sahib become immortal. It is for this reason that whenever any soldier in the opposing army was pierced by Sri Dashmesh jee’s arrow he would say “vah vah” and go into bliss, regardless of if he was Hindu or Muslim. Tasting the shahidi ras of Baba Deep Singh jee’s khanda, even those hearts burnt by hatred and enmity became cool and calm. Shahid Baba Deep Singh’s head was separated from his body, but the smiling and glowing face with its calmness remained unchanged. Having completed this game of sacrifice Baba jee’s head rested on his left hand and watching the Hola of Shahidi around him. The headless body was still swinging the khanda and dispatching hundreds to death. No! No! Giving them a taste of shahidi sherbet! News of this is spreading far and wide and as a result the enemy army is scattering like ants in an instant. History is witness to this and Baba jee’s name will remain for ages to come. This is one example of the warrior spirit of the Guru-ghar’s par-upkaar incarnate servants. This example is enough to demonstrate the bir-rasi parupkari’s shaant ras (calm) avastha. This is the ideal of the bir-ras and shaant-ras Gurmat parupkar. The meaning of this is that only those beloved Gurmukhs who rise above the body, walk with their head on their palm, with unbreakable connections (to naam) can become parupkaari bir-rasi bibekis whose connection is so solid that even under unspeakable torture it will not break and their glowing foreheads and internal shaant ras remain unchanged. What power is it that kept warriors like Bhai Taru Singh, the embodiment of shaant ras, completely unmoved as his scalp was being removed? What power was it that kept beloved Bhai Vir Singh Naurangabad unmoving like a mountain, in smaadhi , as cannons boomed around him? What divine power was it that kept Bhai Mati Das, as he was being sawin alive, and Bhai Dayala jee in the boiling pot from feeling any pain? Which miraculous power was it that kept Bhai Mani Singh as he was being cut piece by piece, and Bhai Subeg Singh being broken on the wheel from even thinking of uttering a cry? It was only that solid connection to naam maha-ras. This is the enjoyment of supreme bliss. This is the state of chardi kala soorbirta. This is the true peace of treating pain and pleasure as the same. This is the high state of spiritual colours. This is the fearless state born from the true love and fear (of Vahiguru). Without attaining this very state, true bir ras and the spirit of par-upkaar born from this are impossible. Here (in this state), bir ras and shaant ras are indistinguishable. This is the philosophy of Kalgidhar Paatshaah’s Sarblohi Khanda, which Buddhists, Jains and Ahimsa-followers are unable to understand.
  11. GURMAT NAAM is something very different to the mantars that the tuks refer to. The proof is in the incident I shared in my first post in this thread.
  12. One who has had naam drir from panj pyare will never have a need for such techniques, nor will the question arise of how to/where to focus, it is all taught in naam drir, and its something very different and much much higher than this yantra stuff. kindly search the term 'yantra' on sridasam.org, you will find such quotes as the following: Page 66, Line 3 He is not within Yantras and tantras, He cannot be brought under control through Mantras. Page 71, Line 12 He cannot be overpowered by Yantras and Mantras, He never yielded before Tantras and Mantras. Page 90, Line 12 He is without Yantra (mystical diagram) and caste, without father and mother and presumed as the splash of Perfect beauty. Page 104, Line 5 Though one may write many Yantras and recite millions of mantras, even then he cannot be saved. No other shelter can save one without His refuge.61. Page 104, Line 6 The writers of Yantras have grown weary and the reciters of mantras have accepted defeat. But ultimately, they all have been destroyed by KAL. Page 106, Line 11 There is no other protection without coming under His shelter, even though many Yantras be written and millions of Mantras be recited.77. and so on.
  13. The below is taken from http://www.tapoban.org/phorum/read.php?f=1&i=29976&t=29806#reply_29976 (by bhai kulbir singh) (When bhai kulbir singh refers to bhai sahib he means Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji) Once a gursikh came to Bhai Sahib and started talking about Anhad Shabad. He said that he could now clearly hear the bell ring, sometimes the roaring of clouds and even the flute. He wanted to confirm his spiritual state with Bhai Sahib. Bhai Sahib in response to his question said that he does not hear any of these voices and sounds i.e. instrumental sounds. At this he got greatly disheartened. Bhai Sahib asked him what exactly he was doing while doing abhyaas. He said that he had a black dot on the wall for dhyaan (concentration) and he does one Siri Sukhmani Sahib paath looking at the dot. Then he keeps his mind quiet and tries to listen to the five kind of sounds. After a while he starts hearing a faint sound of bell, waterfall, flute etc. The black dot too illuminates and all this really motivated him and he started thinking that he was listening to Anhad Shabad. Bhai Sahib did not doubt what he was telling because Bhai Sahib knew that this person was telling the truth. Bhai Sahib told him that they would discuss this again the next day. That day at night Bhai Sahib writes that he sat in Smadhi and tried to hear the five sounds this person was mentioning. He could not hear anything other than Gurmat Anhad Shabad (I will explain this later). Then Bhai Sahib brought down his surtee to a much lower level and he was surprised to hear that all five sounds could be heard at different levels. Bhai Sahib writes that there was not even 1/millionth anand or bliss in these instrumental sounds as compared to the Gurmat Anhad Shabad. Bhai Sahib right away came out of smadhi and immediately went to that gursikh who had asked this question from Bhai Sahib and told him that he was totally engaged in wrong anti-Gurmat practices. Bhai Sahib explained to him his experience and told him that little bit of concentration that he had attained was a result of Siri Sukhmani Sahib paath and he started hearing those instrumental sounds because he wanted to hear them. Bhai Sahib told him that Gurmat Anhad Shabad is way superior to this. From this saakhi of Bhai Sahib we learn that these five shabads that RS talk about do exist but they are not attained by the way they work on it. Actually these five shabads are the invention or discovery of Yogis and RS has just adopted their theory. Gurmat does not believe in limited 5 shabads. Panch Shabad in Gurbani does not mean 5 Shabad but Panch means superior or greatest shabads. Gurmat believes in “Vajae Shabad Ghanaray” i.e. countless shabads and not only 5. We all know that in Sach Khand divine praises of Vaheguru are sung and this language in which they are sung is beyond the 5 elements i.e. water, air, earth, fire and sky. Those praises of Vaheguru cannot be defined or explained in this world and can only be heard when our concentration or our mann (mind) goes beyond the 5 elements in Turiya Avastha or Chautha Padd. These praises or sifat-salaah of Vaheguru that goes on in Sach Khand is called Anhad Shabad. Gurbani that we have here in Siri Guru Granth Sahib jee is that baani of Sach Khand that is used to praise Vaheguru. Some how our Guru Sahib did this impossible task of bringing this "dhur kee baani" down here and this is why they wrote in Gurbani as follows: SEHAJ KATHA PRABH KEE ATT MEETHEE, KATHEE AKATH KAHAANI || (Sehaj Katha i.e. Bani of Vaheguru is extremely sweet. The unspeakable or unexplainable katha of Vaheguru has been spoken or explained). The divine praises of Vaheguru going on in Sach Khand and sung by bhagats there are Anhad Shabads or Anhat Shabads that Gursikhs here hear when they reach Dasam Duaar. According to the books of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee Dasam Duaar is not a land of mandal as RS believes in. It is such a doorway or place within the body from where one can experience what is going on in Sach Khand. Dasam Duaar is in our Body and sitting in this human body one can experience the nazaaray of Sach Khand. This is what Dasam Duaar is. Read 38th pauri of Siri Anand Sahib for details on this.

  17. Two Sikh Gentlemen Gunned Down in California: Law Enforcement Urged to Investigate as a Potential Hate Crime; Community Asked to be Vigilant HIGHLIGHTS: * UNITED SIKHS has contacted Members of Congress, US Attorney's Office in California, and Department of Justice to ensure that thorough investigations will be conducted to determine whether this crime was motivated by racial/ religious animus * Community members asked to be vigilant and participate in awareness efforts about Sikhs * Know Your Rights! Review information from the Hate Crimes Information Card below Sacramento, California: The shooting of two elderly Sikh gentleman in the Elk Grove neighborhood on Friday, March 4, 2011 has left the Sikh community in Sacramento as well as the rest of the country deeply affected. Surinder Singh and Gurtej Atwal were on an afternoon walk when they were gunned down. Surinder Singh died, and Gurtej Atwal is in critical condition. According to The Sacramento Bee, the police is investigating this shooting as a possible hate crime because of the traditional clothing of the gentlemen, including a Dastaar (turban) and full beards. UNITED SIKHS offers its deepest condolences to the families of these gentlemen and the Sikh community in Sacramento, and urges law enforcement and lawmakers to ensure that thorough investigations will be conducted to determine whether this crime was motivated by racial/ religious animus. The legal team has contacted Members of Congress, US Attorney's Office in California, and Department of Justice regarding the incident. Kashmir Singh, UNITED SIKHS Director from California said, "The Sikh community in California is visibly shaken by this incident, which follows closely on a similar incident on a Sikh taxi driver a few months ago. Sikhs are targeted because of their external religious identity, which is ignorantly equated or linked to terrorism. Needless violence occurs because of a gap in knowledge about who Sikhs really are." In addition to education, messaging about matters of national security are also important. Hansdeep Singh, Senior Staff Attorney said, "Currently, we live in a climate where government officials, like Congressman Peter King, seek to alienate religious minorities by calling for hearings that only discuss extremism within the Muslim community. Our history is rife with examples of targeting minority communities (i.e. Japanese), instead, we should examine the impact of how vilifying a particular group permeates the societal consciousness and inevitably leads to hate or bias based attacks." What can community members do? * Be alert and vigilant! * Participate in education and awareness efforts about who Sikhs are and the importance of articles of faith. * Know your rights. Have information in case you are involved or witness a hate crime. UNITED SIKHS has information available on hate crimes in English and Panjabi. Please contact 1-888-243-1690 or email unitedsikhs-usa@unitedsikhs.org to request Hate Crime Information cards. Hate Crime Card (English) Hate Crime Card (Punjabi) UNITED SIKHS is continuing to work with lawmakers and like-minded organizations, and has recommended that: * Hate/Bias statutes urgently require revision to ensure that the definitions of hate or bias crimes do not rely solely on a connection to hate or bias speech associated with the crime. As we see in this case in Sacramento, hate crimes may also occur without any connection to hate or bias speech. * Government agencies and leaders should be especially careful about the speech they use connecting terrorism or other criminal acts to particular religions, races, or ethnicities. * There is urgent need for educational programs to be instituted in schools to educate students and staff on diversity issues, critical thinking, and to inform students and staff specifically about Sikhs. If you have any information about the shooting, please contact the Elk Grove Police Department Communication Center at (916) 714-5115 orCrime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357).
