  1. You might want to make the videos public so that Sangat do not have to subscribe to the channel to view them (the vids are marked as private). K.
  2. See the katha here: http://www.gurmatveechar.com/audio/katha/katha.php?q=f&f=%2F02_Present_Day_Katha%2FGiani_Thakur_Singh_%28Patiala_wale%29%2FMaas_Maas_Kar_Moorakh_Chagrdae K.
  3. Download to what format? The easiest way is probably to contact the sevadars at the website above and ask thjem to send you the files in whatever format you desire. Contact them here: http://www.sridasamgranth.com/#/contact-us/4527717749 Otherwise, see here about downloading the original video in mp4 format: http://vimeo.com/help/faq/video/original_video_download Regards, K.
  4. There are lots of different theories depending on which "Sheikh" you talk to, but what you say above makes the most sense from a Gurbani perspective. K.
  5. The first rule of N30ism that you don't talk about N30ism. K.
  6. That part of Zindagi Namah is quoting a prophecy of Mohammed which says that, on the day of judgement, there will be 72 sects of Islam which are Jehannumi (from hell) and the 73rd is Naji (blessed - literally, naji means "saved"). It's the naji sect that will be given entry to heaven, the rest will perish. There is no sect called naji, but all sects of Islam claim that they are naji. K.
  7. Wasn't Jot Bigas written in Punjabi? K.
  8. Some sources are given in this SikhSangat thread: http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/52868-anti-banda-singh-bahadur-views/ Edit: note that some of the info on Banda SIngh Bahadur is contradictory, so it best to read ALL the sources quoted in the link above and make your own mind up. K.
  9. Maybe we should open a new thread to take a look at all the historical sources concerning Banda Bahadur? Thanks for the book recommendation, Mithar ji, I will definitely look it up. K.
  10. Anything is possible, but it doesn't matter - Banda Bahadur was still a greater Soorbir Shastardhari Singh then most of us will ever be, even if he was not infallible. The point I was really trying to make was that our ideas of what Sikhi is are sometimes different to what is actually the case (or what is written in historical texts), and that all Sikhs should make an effort to read our history. K.
  11. That he was not infallible, but that in the end he achieved shaheedi living in Guru Ji's hukam. See Prachin Panth Prakash regarding the battle between the Bandai Khalsa and Tat Khalsa for more info regarding the changes that Banda Bahadur wanted to make at one point to the Khalsa maryada. K.
  12. Don't sweat it, Singha, and thanks for the seva you are doing in translating these puratan texts. Knee-jerk reactions are to be expected because of the content of some puratan granths and the general ignorance among Sikhs of our ithihaas. On a personal note, I had the same kind of reaction when I first heard that Banda Bahadur was not always the infallible hero I was taught that he was, but the surprise shocked me out of my laziness and inspired me to read more of our history. Keep up the good work, veer ji. Regards, K. PS I'd appreciate a response, when you have the time, about the question I sent you on your blog about the Ugardanti translation. There's no hurry though.
  13. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! In case this hasn't already been posted here, here are some videos from the Dasam Granth Conference to promote Harbhajan Singh's book on Sri Dasam Granth: http://www.sridasamgranth.com/#/dasam-granth-conf-2009-part-2/4541128748 There are some interesting talks given by several people, including Giani Sher Singh from Buddha Dal and Baba Maan Singh Nihang of Guru Nanak Dal, regarding Sri Dasam Granth. Regards, K.
  14. Oh look, a sullah who lies and dissembles. What a surprise. For those of you who don't know, Muslims are given religious sanction to practice taquiiyah and kitman, that is to lie and dissemble, if it aids the cause of Islamic Imperialism. To lie is divine if it means Mohammed gets another member joining his club. However, there are also a proportion of Muslims who truly, honestly believe these lies. In their minds, Muslims are always victims, and the crimes Muslims perpetrate on non-Muslims are either deserved because the victims are inherently evil or, in the majority of cases, Muslim crimes are actually committed by Jews and Americans who are part of some grand conspiracy to defame Islam. Contrary to popular opinion, it is not just Wahhabi/Salafi Sunni fanatics who think this way. This belief in the complete innocence of Muslims and an evil and invisible Zionist-Crusader conspiracy is also common in Shia circles. As an example, take a looksee on shiachat about the failed Muslim NYC bomber. There are people there who truly believe it to be some American conspiracy. K.
  15. It's extremely effective and, in the context of something like politics or sales, it doesn't require the cooperation of your conscious mind because the patterns used communicate directly with your unconscious mind. Some of their techniques are similar to hypnotic inductions, but the trance words are concealed in ordinary sounding speech. Read anything by Richard Bandler and John Grinder who co-founded NLP. You can find most of their books online in pdf format. If you want a basic intro, Stephen Heller's Monsters and Magical Sticks is great. K.
  16. LOL, it's funny to see Fenwick's ChaosMatrix linked to here. This is the most important part of the whole essay: But let me inject a word of warning here: If you think you can attend such gatherings and not be affected, you are probably wrong. Most people are too proud to admit that they were hypnotised/brainwashed, and that the same techniques that are used to grant them "salvation" are used by people who have studied a little hypnosis and NLP to sell cars and vacuums. K.
  17. It's worth reading pjs veer ji's comments on the same topic on Sikh Sangat here: http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/53001-beautiful-old-manscript-of-dasam-granth/ K.
  18. "There may be some good thinking and some good remorse after he does come out, after he has more time to think about it." Yeah, and recovering from his injuries will give Smith time for some "good thinking and some good remorse" also. I'll wager he won't be so quick to disrespect someone's dastaar or patka next time. K.
  19. There are 5 navratris, but I think in North India they only celebrate Vasant and Sharada. Sharada is a maha navratri so most people celebrate this one. Ram Chandar is supposed to have done puja of Durga during this time frame to destroy Ravan. Yeah, it would be great if you could find out if Hazur Sahib celebrates any other navratris apart from sharada, and what their maryada is during these days. Another granth that I'm really interested in is Jhataka Parkash. If you ever find it, please let the Sangat here know. Thanks, K.
  20. Interesting! Giani Ji mentions reciting Chandi Paath and doing Shastar Pooja for all the days of Dusshera. I thought that Dusshera was the tenth day after Navratri. Does he mean that shastar should be poojed for all ten days, or is just on Dusshera (17 Oct 2010)? Also, do you have the granth that is read from, Dusshera Mahatam Granth, or do you know what bania it contains? Thanks, K.
  21. Kamalpreet Singh Pardeshi on Nanak Gita: Gurfateh. The Nanak Gita is avalable in print butit is in Hindi. I first saw a copy of it with the Bedis and have Katha of it by Sachkhand Vasi Mahamandleshwar Swami Ishwar Das Ji Udasi. I will try to find it in recordings on tape. I am going to try and obtain a copy of it for translation. If you go to Swami Shantinand in Jalandhar I am sure they will show you a copy but its not going to be easy!! Neo Singh sent me Gobind Gita so I have put it on scribd (see in downloads section). Regards, K.
  22. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Gobind Gita is now on scribd here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/31560652/Gobind-Gita Thanks to Amardeep Singh and Kamalpreet Singh Pardeshi (Kam1825). Regards, K.
  23. Aight. You have his email addy? Also, anyone know anything about the Nanak Gita? K.
  24. I understand your point of view, but I hope Niddar Singh reserves things like Loh Mushti for the more mature and responsible students. The last thing the Panth needs is for whitey to ban the wearing of karay because some chavs have started wearing and using them as weapons. K.
  25. The best thing to do is to wait until those responsible are captured and their reasons are ascertained. The media is no doubt going to use this incident to portray all Sikhs as terrorists. We do not have to make their job easier. (The same thing happened when the Ravidasi Sant was shot and killed. The media and those enemies who benefit from such crimes tried to paint all Sikhs as terrorists then. It was only later that we found out that it was due to an internal dispute.) I have a feeling that this crime had nothing to do with religious differences at all. Let's wait and see, 'k? K.
