  1. It seems like India IS selling products made from processed Russian crude oil to the west?
  2. Do they just use leaves when they make it? Or buds too? Did you see if they put sukha seeds in also?
  3. I think as well, 'Indians' need to understand that when people come to your country being all friendly and acting like allies, it should never be taken at face value. This was the big mistake made by successive rajay in India (including our own M. Ranjit Singh) with the EIC, who used this naivety to scope out the joint, and then manipulate the situation until they had taken complete control. Modi seems to have some grasp of this given how he is now pushing for complete self-reliance in the manufacture of military equipment. This indicates that he knows that allies of today (in terms of military supplies) could turn in future, when least needed. Also, I think India is widely resented by a lot of european nations, and if history is anything to go by, they will act vindictively when they get an opportunity. I hope they know this.
  4. So what effect did the shaheedi degh have on you, and how long did it last?
  5. I don't expect any perfect society, but when we continually and publically promote stupidity like this, it's too much and sort of provides fuel for negative stereotypes about our community from others (publically drunk, exhibitionist kunjars or kunjarees). Some things are better done in private, and discouraging that overly exuberant, pendu exhibitionism we routinely see, should be done from childhood. It's because people aren't taught and made to see how stupid this is, that they do it. Rather, in weddings and private functions many encourage it. Movies encourage, videos encourage it. And personally I don't subscribe to that whole 'Punjabi identity' thing like you're suggesting. If anything I see these fudhoos as lost Sikhs. For years we had that mentality going on where conservatives in the community would just brush off some of the reckless, stupid behaviour from apneean (which often led to grooming and sexual abuse) as just something 'Punjabi girls' were doing not 'Sikh' ones, enabling them to do nothing about it, until the issue just grew and grew and they were forced to confront it. That's the problem with what you are saying, brushing things off as Punjabi and not dealing with them is a lazy way out.
  6. I think it makes us look like clown fuddhus myself. But then again, the second video was from Wolves, so it was going to be northern-monkey backwards anyway.
  7. Veer, the more we identify and remove these people, the less damage they will do. Like Bhai Mohan SIngh ji said: doing this could prevent them from abusing another dozen victims.
  8. I don't get what you are trying to say here. Although I haven't read all the book, from what I gather, it seems to be what I'd call a 'framework' book. By this I mean that the value of it isn't necessarily in the details (although I'm sure there will be important ones within), but in how it helps us to reframe our history and form a more holistic schema of it - which is so important right now, as we're just coming out of the imposed colonial-era one, that was basically a method to tame, confuse and control the panth. You have to slow it down then. Absorb the info. I go through phases where I struggle to read and concentrate but then I stumble across some work that snaps me out of it. The skim reading may be preventing you from grasping the contents in the way it needs to be. Also, I'm glad you posted the above, I was beginning to get worried you were an undercover copper. lol!! So you dispense jack and jills then. Nice.
  9. I've met guys who go back there frequently, including now. I think there is an issue with media amplifying things and making them look bigger than they are at ground level (i.e. sensationalised). Right now, to many paks, this is just a minor thing, with 'disturbances' taking place in a few major towns. At village level, and in much of the country, things are 'calm'.
  10. Yes bruv, don't stray off the reservation too much. It's great to learn about other perspectives and experiences from other traditions, but I do believe we are on surer ground when we stick to frameworks of our own panth (way). Keep our Guru Sahiban's (esp. dasmesh pita for me) energy as a focal point. They balanced the spiritual with hardcore dealing with the worldly. We love you brother. Waheguru mantar jaap is the way to go - I would have been completely bonkers without it I believe (or at least a lot more bonkers than I am). Slow down that breathing too (not in any forced way, but naturally and gradually - sehajay sehajay).
  11. PS - Tried some rice water on tomato saplings, seems to do them no harm at the least.
  12. Anyone doing anything interesting in this department this year? New thing for me: I'm trying spring onions. Basically I soaked some cut off ends in water for a bit (surprising how quickly the green leaves shoot up). I've now potted them in soil.
  13. This. And knowing some of our fudhoo lot back home, they'd lay a welcoming mat for grooming gangs to get embedded.
  14. I think some people will be more prone to making it a bigger issue than it is. Maybe it will have implications for northerners, maybe they wont be so great. Let's see how things go.
  15. Warning of what can happen in an extreme case, if you're too much of a momma's boy:
  16. If I saw any young boys in my family dancing like this, honestly, I think I'd have a heart attack.......I don't know what that dad must be going through......
  17. There has been next to nothing produced that was post-colonial - remember that! I've had to unlearn a lot of what I learnt from skewed sources.
  18. That kid's putting himself in potential danger dancing like that.......you all know what I mean......
  19. Says a lot about how Sikhs are perceived in their own manor over there.......
  20. Are you dyslexic? Book looks fascinating? I'm sure I'd pick up at least a few new things from it - at the very least.
