  1. Just to play devil's advocate here, what about those who just are simply uncomfortable with being screened by the opposite gender? Do they not have the right to at least request as such? The seat thing was ridiculous, but the screening thing is not as black and white (and this goes for both genders).
  2. Suleman talks about this as well, that these pret are attracted to gandh
  3. Closing statement : Gurbani is Gurbani, whether from Aad, Dasam or Sarbloh Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. If we believe that all ten gurus are the same, then so is their bani. Whilst we all agree that Aad Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is our Guru, Dasam and Sarbloh deserve no less respect. We've pretty much cleared up the issue of why the rule exists in the RM regarding parkash of Dasam at the same level as Aad. Hopefully the sangat worldwide will appreciate this and one day we will be able to have darshan of Aad Dasam Sarbloh wherever we go, by Guru's grace.
  4. Actually Satkiran, it is seems that it is you who is "skirting" the question. According to SRM, meat is permissible. However, is meat permissible according to the Guru's bani? If yes, no probs. If no, then probs. :) In a previous quote you said: "Bowing to to something as Guru is different than believing and respecting... I fully respect Banis that are 100% accepted as being from Guru Gobind Singh Ji. I already said as such. If you are playing word semantics and saying that any bani equals the guru well then whatever... But the way it's written is gurbani is guru (as a whole) not single compositions but the entire culmination." The point is the Gurbani is Gurbani, whether from the First or the Tenth. They are read the same, treated the same etc.: Nanak Guru Gobind SIngh Ji, Pooran Har Avtaar. Jag Mag Jot Biraaj Rahi, Sri Guru Granth Majhaar. Again, we all agree Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the Guru. But Dasam and Sarbloh do not deserve any less respect. Another question: Which baani's from Dasam do you believe in and which do you question? Perhaps we can take it from there to get a better understanding. Small note: Loving the discussion guys! Thanks, and let's keep it clean ;)
  5. To be fair Satkiran, you're just doing the same. picking and choosing to suit your point. You want to use the SRM to prove your point? Fine . then do you agree Guru Granth sahib Ji allows eating of meat? The problem with using the SRM verbatim is that it tells us to only bow to Guru Granth Sahib Ji, yet tells us to believe completely in the bani of the ten Gurus. So: - if dasam bani is accepted then we should bow to it as it us the Guru's bani. To make a distinction between the two is the same as saying the First and the Tenth were not the same. - if we do not accept it, we break rehat. Therefore, just holding on to SRM will in itself undermine your whole argument, and leave you with a logical falicy
  6. Okay, let's go from here. Are you saying that the baani of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji, either individually or in its entirety (I'll let you choose), is inferior in any way shape or form to that of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji? Whilst no one is denying that Aad Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is our Guru (at least I hope no is), this does not mean that the Baani of the Tenth Master deserves any less respect. As far as bowing down to individual baanis/shabads goes, you may choose not to, I would GLADLY. You say individual baanis would not be put on a palki (e.g. Jap ji). What, then, would you say the the Mohan Pothis that Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji Maharaj bought to the Sri Harmandir Sahib in a palki? What would you say to the Fifth Master giving his own takht to Sri Aad Granth Sahib Ji (remember, Guru Granth Sahib Ji does not have the Gurgaddi yet), sitting on the floor with the rest of the sangat and bowing down to it? Is the Fifth Master, too, not bowing down to an "incomplete" Granth? What are your views, then, on Sri Sarbloh Guru Granth Sahib Ji? What are are your views on the Sixth and Tenth Gurus, when they elevated the shasters, done Chaur over them and BOWED to them? There is a katha done by Giani Sher Singh Ji Nihang explaining the whole "not doing parkash of any Granth same level as Guru Sahib", in which he explains that people started to (wrongly) parkash Ramayan/Gita/Mahabharat along side Guru Sahib Ji, hence the introdction of this rule. For the majority of us, it is quite simple: Jin Bhae Adab Naa Baani Dhaaraa Jaano So Sikh Nahi Hamaaraa
  7. so do you believe Jaap Sahib is inferior to Jap Ji?
  8. If you do not accept Dasam Granth in its entirety, then you are not a Sikh. Because, why even take amrit? If we read Sri Jap Ji as part of our nitnem and amrit sanchar, we read jaap sahib at the exact same level. If guru nanak Dev Ji work japji, he wrote jaap sahib in his 10th form. No difference. I wonder what these people think when they open a nitnem pothi with aad and Dasam baani together? Keeping them separate and treating them the same poses no contradiction. Did you know that the guru kept shastar at the same level as him, encouraging their worship (chaur, toof) etc. I dread to even think what the over zealous self righteous now it alls think about Sri Sarbloh Granth Sahib Ji. Read that and their head would explode.
  9. you're right. ....This is funny. ...because it was supposed to be! I was attempting to highlight the current state of affairs when it came to caste by playing on a very common and very well known (though I guess not that well known! ) stereotype. .....its no fun when you have to explain your own jokes.
  10. The Sikh caste system: Jat are the best. The rest are crap.
