  1. good book...but what if I am the government? then fun for me...
  2. lol, good comment bruce...I'm sorry my comment was in reference to the NEW SA BANNER...lol...but good post.
  3. What is up wit da white people? damn desi...never proud of their own skin color...even the banner with the Gurus was blue... What about beautiful BROWN? Discuss...
  4. oh no..its started again....lol good posts guys...I understand about understaing and realizing...we have to do both...but this is my attempt at understanding...doesn't make any sense by pushing it away by saying we have to realize it...following your logic atleast...thanks.
  5. idk...mines not straight...maybe wait till its longer...
  6. I agree with you all, but this is the care case where I support euthanasia...I mean she starved to death...we give more respect to convicts on death row, that have a painless death (lethal injection). Also, I'm not too sure about this, but I believe her condition was caused by anorexia, which was caused by her husband. He threatened to leave her if she didn't lose weight...at least that is what I've heard; have not verified it.
  7. saw it wit ma closest friends, muslim homies, they didn't like it so much, and I agreed wit em. I think the whole movie was about showing how much jesus suffered. That's it. They just show a guy being tortured for like 2 hours and it brings about emotions in people. Like Christians will be like: man look what he went through for us. I feel it was overly gratuitous, and was just meant to get people emotional over it, so they might become better Christians. I think they spent too little time actually teaching the message of Jesus, and more on his death. I know his death is important to Christians, but shouldn't what he lived for also be important. Personally I didn’t come out of there feeling, wow Jesus was a great man who spread the word of god; instead I felt: wow, that guy took a hell of a beating…. I think the Last Temptation of the Christ was much better.
  8. sorry but what is humai? but I have my reasons for thinking the way I do, sorry if it's not up to anyone's standard of what a Sikh should be..I don't really care..lol
  9. I would never cut my hair out of fear for my own life...but I would cut it in a heartbeat to save anyone else's life (especially family and friends).. It is important, but it is just hair, can always grow it back... And I do agree with other posts about it being circumstantial.
  10. don't let this thread die people... What about when Guru Nanak Dev ji, said there is no Hindu, and no Muslim...that all humans are the same......so what's with us obsessed with a distinct identity...to the extent of limiting the definintion of a Sikh, and establishing an orthodoxy..
  11. wow, gooney, props for lifting all that weight man. I can't lift nearly as much as you, but then I've just started lifting 1 month ago...but I read up a lot before i begin something..lol.. I'm 6' 3" and weight 220lbs and nowhere near as strong, but I guess it's gonna take me some time to get to where you're at.
  12. yeah, man, I love talkin' bout it too..love training as well, if I don't, I just feel wierd. But yeah I know 10% is low, but I really wanna have abs...yes hard, but I aim high, lol, and that is what it is going to take. I wish I could run 5 miles, but I lift everyother day, and do 30 min cardio inbetween. Only 30 min. cause any more and your body typically tends to use muscle for energy. I'm trying to lose fat, while maintaining my current muscle mass, so lifting, enough protein along with heatly diet, and rest are my method. btw...running not as effective as most people think...it certainly helps, but you have to run a lot, and then you are also losing muscle. I know while losing fat you lose some muscle as well, but I'm trying to minimize that.
  13. Yeah, great advice bro. I agree with everything you said, especially with keeping cardio low, and eating more often( 6 meals good cause keeps your body from going to starvation mode). Oh and I totally agree that 80% of your resutls are based on diet and rest...good post man. btw..ghost, I should say that it is quite impossible to cut and bulk at the same time, unless you are a beginner, in which case putting on muscle is qutie easy, or you have perfect genetics..lol. I plan on doing bulking and cutting sessions. Right now I'm cutting for 12 weeks, need to get to <10% body fat..so we'll see how that works, then I'm back to bulking up cause I'm quite weak...lol.
  14. Well, I would just advise you to eat a lot. In order to gain mass, you have to eat a lot. Essentially more calories than your body burns, yes you will gain some fat, but that is part of it. Also you must eat quality food, don't eat junk food to meet your calorie requirement. Eat a lot of protein, there are a lot alternatives to meat: tofu, eggs, etc.. I would also recommend getting some whey protein (have two shakes a day). It is suggested that you should consume about 1g of protein per pound of body weight. I don't consume that much protein, cause i find it hard to take in that much, but I get about .7g per pound. When it comes to lifting, lift heavy, and split up your routines. Like do Chest and shoulders one day, arms and back, and then legs. Working out three days a week is enough, give you body enough time to recuperate. Um, compound movements work best for building muscle. Some of the best compound exercises you can do: bench press, squat, and dead lift. That is just a very general overview; I suggest you check out www.bodybuilding.com for more info. Ask if you need more info. Just read up to make sure you are doing the right thing.
  15. I'm not upset at you, so you have nothing to apologize for. I was just saying that one of the main messages of that site is that Muslims are evil. There are people in Sikhi who are against Hindu influences, but no one hates Hindus. Most Hindus and Sikhs live in harmony with each other in Punjab (some of our best family friends are Hindus). I will say that most of the Hindutva people are radicals, that go so far as to dilute Sikhism. So honestly I don't know how you can be a part of something like that. Again, not an attack on you, so please do not take it personally.
  16. *without the American internet..that is right...must respect to Al Gore
  17. While this is an interesting read. I hope you realize that the site: www.hinduunity.com is extremely biased. I would not reference it as being an objective site. This is not to say that there is no truth on that site, but it is obviously anti-muslim. In my opinion, you can't be truly in touch with god if you hate, especially a particular group of people. Still, it was an interesting read. I have heard that the varna system (not it's corrupt form caste system) is actually advocated by Hinduism. It is differentiated from the caste system in that it is not hereditary. That your varna is based on what you choose to do (the varna system: brahmin, kystria, vaisha, and sudra). Correct me if I am wrong.
  18. haha..I had to use that last time I went...HAD TO..and I will tell you..the nastiest place I have ever been...EVER...
  19. I guess you mean pounds..more dollars, damn.
  20. I see what you are saying in this thread..and agree to most of it..
  21. I don't know Sexy, a lot of people have said similar things about changing themselves to Sikhs, ie the Helmet issue... just some food for thought.
  22. Is it just me or did someone else notice in the description section of this post it says: "Sukhi is a prat". um...I don't get it...
  23. good points so far people...and I agree with most of what you have written Sukhi, but I just thought things were different with religion. I agree it is a social group like any other, but its message is different (ie most religions speak of peace, love, etc...) I mean the people misinterpreting and then preaching it must be quite clever to get so many to follow them. I mean you have religious teaching which preaces love, tolerance, but you have people that would fight over it. I hope I'm making some sense here.. Anways continue sharing your views people.
  24. My question seems to be pretty general, and please excuse any ignorance on my part. But anways, Guru Nanak Dev ji always preached about the "oneness" of humans. As far as I know he was against distinguishing between people on the basis of "religion." Well, anways, my question is that has Sikhi strayed from this path by trying so hard to assert a distinctive identity?
