  1. Sukhdev, its good to let out all your frustration in one go, congratulations!!!!
  2. To Palm, if you read the email carefully you will notice that the email has been forwarded. The facts stated are that by the UCL Student not me! So please get your facts straight before having a go at me ! If you have problems with the facts write out a proper complaint, then ill forward it to the student. I have been in contact with the student regarding this matter and these are the points they have mentioned; 1. Sarb was the president but he messed up the sikhi week event, and dilpreet ended up booking the room, infact he forgot to book room for the sikhi week event. Dilpreet had to effectively to fufil the presidential role-,she also made the active presidential decision to cancel the SS event. So to be honest Mr Palm whether she her title is president or not. She still excercised presidential powers! They were both aware of the Sanatan Sikhi event at the time. 2. you say the author has lied. Mr PAlm as far as im aware theres a difference between a typing mistake and a lie! A Soas Lecturer who specialises in indian religions supported the event. You should contact the name and number on that flyer for confirmation. Again please refrain from baseless accussations they make you a target for critcism. Fact 3. Im not allow to mention names here due to security reasons. Fact 4. Again, you need to read it carefully, the person who forwarded the email, their identity cannot be mentioned. Thats what i stated, not im not going to mention any names at all! Palm, can you please read posts carefully before trying to argue your points. so to reiterate; I did not write the majority of that post - so stop having a go at me! In relation to Shakas point you have stated that you have never felt intimidated by boss, oh well, that your opinion and your entitld to it. The truth is a number of people have(if you want details please PM me). You will not become a victim of hate on this thread(not from me anyway). I respect you as person and encourage you to carry on questioning these facts, but please do so after reading carefully and thinking. Sorry if i have hurt your feelings. Your my paaji, i will respect your opinion because its your right to have one. Harpreet THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LYING AND MISTAKES. THE EMAIL BY UCL IS A LIE! ITS PROOF, SO STOP NEGATING THAT FACT! I will not reveal thier identity, because they are scared. i wonder why !
  3. Go afternoon ladies and gentlemen. I was to post this by a UCL Student(whose name has to remain undisclosed for security reasons) Start Harps, I have been distressed about the recent occurances within UCL Sikh Soc, send this email to everyone. UCL sikh Society gave thier word(according to their own commitee member) last Monday saying that they supported the Snatan Sikh Event at their uni. Then all of a sudden after their sikhi week talk(run by BOSS) on tuesday they changed their mind ! (Dilpreet the president, was surrounded by KultarSingh and Harjit Singh watford for 35 mins) here is a copy of an email they sent to their students behind my back after BOSS and Kultar Singh intervention. Start Envelope-to: sikh.society@ucl.ac.uk X-Sender: uczxsih@pop-server.ucl.ac.uk X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Version 5.1.1 Date: Tue, 23 Nov 2004 11:34:47 +0000 To: "dhanesh@fsmail.net":; From: UCL SIKH SOCIETY <uczxsih@ucl.ac.uk> Subject: Today's talk - Tuesday 23rd November 2004 X-UCL-MailScanner-Information: Please contact the UCL Helpdesk, helpdesk@ucl.ac.uk for more information X-UCL-MailScanner: Found to be clean X-UCL-MailScanner-SpamCheck: X-MailScanner-From: uczxsih@ucl.ac.uk Dear Members, Sat Sri Akal! (Truth is Eternal!) This is just a quick e-mail to thank you all for your help at UCL's Sikhi Week event last Tuesday, and to further let you know the talk that was scheduled to be held today (Tuesday 23rd November), has now been cancelled. This is also true for the other lectures in this series as agreed by the relevant committees. Some of you may have heard this event may still be taking place, but this is untrue as no Sikh societies have been officially informed. We apologise for any misinformation you may have received over the course of the last two weeks. This is now the committee's final position. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh! (The Khalsa Belongs to the Wonderful Lord, Victory is the Wonderful Lord's!) UCLU Sikh Society Committee www.sikh.uclu.org sikh.society@ucl.ac.uk www.sikh.uclu.org sikh.society@ucl.ac.uk End Fact1: The EVENT HAD NOT BEEN CANCELLED! Fact2: THEY WERE OFFICALLY INFORMED MANY WEEKS AGO, HENCE WHY THIER NAME IS ON THE FLYER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fact 3: This email was not sent by the secretary(who was responsible for the emails), it was done without their permission, BEHIND their BACK!!!!!!!!!!! Fact 4: One of the main people who were against this event taking place and influenced this email, namely KULTAR SINGH(UCL) was not even on the commitee! Question 1: Kultar Singh, if you are so against these talks taking place at your university, then why did you turn up to the talk at ULU? (photographic evidence is available of this) Question 2: The truth is eternal, as you have said in your email, then why the hell do you lie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! End I can't believe the amount BOSS have been harssing unis and spreading lies to sikhs!! Fateh

Anyway, wots wrong with a girl who goes to pubs and clubs ? it can benefit your life in other ways. . . . . Gurfateh Harpreet
  5. I was told to post this in from my uni president. Start Qmul Sikh Society have been 'thrown out' of BOSS for REFUSING TO CANCEL THE EVENT. Qmul Sikh Soc reply: 1. QMUL Sikh Soc are not affiliated to BOSS, hence we can't be thrown out. 2. QMUL Sikh Soc will not tolerate mistreatment of students by BOSS members(evidence of which we handed over to the student union) 3. QMUL Sikh Soc will not give into threats. 4. We support events conducted in a professional and academic manner. If people have problems with the lecturers, then they are invited to events for an academic debate. Kind Regards Jasdeep Kaur(acting President) Amandeep Singh(acting treasurer) End
  6. Narsingha, When doing a presentation it is often useful to adpat to the audience. If they are having trouble keeping up, it is on some occassions better to slow down! The last event was excellently advertised and organised. However one aspect which was poor was the flow of the Power Point Presentation. Jumping back and forth meant that i had to focus more on the screen to digest the info, whilst Gurdev ji was talking. This meant i missed some of the stuff he was saying! It would help if it flowed, rather than jumping back and forth. The first event is at our uni(Queen Marys). Hope to see everyone there ... Akaaaal
  7. the student asks ; Kiv sachi-aaraa ho-i-ai kiv koorhai tutai paal ? answer hukum rajaaee chalna nanak likhia naal So killing yourself would be a good idea ? Yes? Harpo

  10. Your already mukt, you just dont know it.
  11. hey sodi its harps! you 2 okie ?
  12. Yeah i gotta agree with you on that one to a certain extent. There are many families out there were all the sikhs are monnay. The girls in those family have seen Singhs but dont really interact with them - hence they are not used to them. Yeah i see your point Harps
  13. why does there have to always be a right or wrong way ? Why black and white? Why not grey? (ie personal spirituality - depending on the circumstances). On a personal level i think people get mistaken about what Gurbani is there for. It is there for our benefit - ie to improve our lives - WE NEED IT - IT DOESNT NEED US! Why do you do good deeds - its not to make the guru happy - he doesnt need your deeds, it effects your own peace of mind. DOING GOOD THINGS IS FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT. Spirituality is the key to happiness, gurbani is a tool which gets you there. ITs a gift. People have turned this beutiful gift into a BURDEN by extrapulating 'rules' and 'regulations' of how a person should do this and that, the deeper meaning of bani is compromised when this is done. Respecting bani is very important - not for the benefit of the bani - but your own benefit ! Rupsingh - if you are right or wrong in your fundemental beliefs - does it matters - are the beliefs really yours - you will find after back tracking that they are not. The environment around you has shaped your mind - you have formed your beliefs based on enviroment. who cares about beliefs? They are not yours are they ? - let go of everything! - live! - be alive! Do what helps your life!
  14. Im am not saying that there is no use of doing sevato guru granth sahib ji! Who said Guru Ji is just a book ?! Your not good at maths. LEARN HOW TO READ OTHER PEOPLES POSTs WITHOUT DISEASING THEM WITH YOUR OWN ASSUMPTIONS. Also, please answer my question about the building, stop side stepping it by engaging yourself in a personal attack. Harpreet
  15. Sikhi just is. It has been. And further, will be. It is SAT. It cannot be disrespected, only peoples ideas of what people think sikhi is can be disrespected. In essence, the people who claim that 'sikhi has been disrespected', are infact comparing their way of Sikhi to those in the programme. After comparing and calculating a difference they have concluded that they are right, and the other wrong. Is that the path of a true sikh? To judge, categorise and whinge(like a spoilt brat)? Spouting on about bani this bani that, go learn some life skills first, for example, accepting other people for what they are, embracing them for what they are , and not trying to ENFORCE your own views by categorising them as 'non sikhs'.
  16. So the building wouldnt blow up then ? Karamjeet ?
  17. So if Guru Granth Sahib Ji maharaj was in a building - and then the building blew up, would god have blown up ?
  18. Gurfateh Shastar Vidiya being a hoax ? LOL, trust me, when you've been doing martial arts all your life(and defeating top fighters on the way) and a 1 year trainee of Shaster Vidiya takes you down---- ITS NO DAMN HOAX THEN! Singh47 - provide some academic evidence or shut up.
  19. Ask them is it fair to take money of 'non kesdhari sikhs' and then not let them run the gurudwara? Its stupid and i recognise your level of concern, ill be honest with you, from personal experience they are a very stubborn bunch! how could your gurudawara be saved ? Do ardaas to Akaal - then go back there and kick ass(yes 1 person can make a difference) Gurfateh Harpreet
  20. Here here ! Sexy_Singh i think its clever User ID! Why conform! thats so boring - grow, evolve, jump up and down with joy! Experience the Experience, stop reading the menu eat the food ! Bruah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gurfateh Harpreet
  21. You peeps on a serious note, gimme a hand with this one. My friend works as a property developer in the City and is doing really well. The thing is he tells me he has to lie alot in his job in order to be succesful as a businessman. For instance, say there is a plot of land for sale for £1million and there are 3 potential buyers. 2 of them may be his competitors, they would ask him(unofficially) if he is interested in buying, he would say no. Then the other two would strike a deal on the land(ie ill take this for £850 k you can have £50k cash, if you dont out bid me). Then at the bidding time one would bid £850k, but my friend would go against his word and outbid him and pick up the land for say 900k(100k less than asking price) He says that 'that is the way the property business works', you need to be 'sly' to get far......... So the big question is it 'ok' for a Sikh to be a 'competitve businessman'? Lets face it top businessmen - tend to be top 'schemers' aswell. Forum ?
  22. When i first heard classical raag kirtan i was like, 'that sounds weird'. Now i'm addicted, i can't stop listening to it, its so intoxicating, it plants a seed inside you, which just grows and grows the more you listen to it. Its next level stuff - i when i say 'words are not enough', i mean it! Bhai Balbir Singh Ji and Bhai Baljeet Singh Ji bin playing on my sound system for weeks non-stop! please listen to it if you get a chance! WOW! We need more of these gifted sikhs in gurudwaras, can you imagine going to the gurudawara and the gyani singing in raag with old classical instruments?
