According to a judgment recently released by Justice Lucille Shaw, a jury found 34-year-old Nitish Verma guilty of one count of importing opium on March 6. Shaw wrote in the judgment that Verma was arrested on Aug. 4, 2019, after 13.7 kilograms of opium were found in his bags, tucked inside boxes of sweets. The street value of the drug was estimated to range from $294,316 to $936,460. Verma had argued at trial that he didn’t know the boxes of sweets contained illegal drugs, stating he was bringing the treats back at the request of a good friend in Canada. “Mr. Verma has filed an appeal against his conviction and vehemently maintains his innocence," said Mark Halfyard, Verma’s lawyer, in an emailed statement. "Mr. Verma was taken advantage of by an unscrupulous person known to him and is the victim of having drugs planted in his luggage. This is what he told the police upon his arrest and the position he has maintained throughout this ordeal. He looks forward to his day in court before the Court of Appeal for Ontario to challenge the verdict in this case." The judge stated in her judgment there was no evidence that Verma had connections with drug traffickers and several friends and family wrote letters of support for Verma to be submitted during the sentencing. In the judge’s decision, she recounted how Verma told the courts he went on the trip to India to help his sister find a husband and before returning, met up with someone at the airport in Delhi to bring back boxes of treats.

LUCIE − A 26-year-old man was sentenced to three years in prison and fined $50,000 in connection with drugs and drug deals made last year, according to attorneys this week. Rishubh Patel, of Port St. Lucie, pleaded no contest Tuesday to 23 charges and was sentenced in Circuit Judge Lawrence Mirman’s court, according to information from Assistant State Attorney Katy Reid and defense attorney Richard Kibbey. Rishubh Patel CONTRIBUTED PHOTO FROM ST. LUCIE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE The charges stem from a series of drug deals investigators made with Patel in March and April 2022, and also a search of his home and vehicle in May 2022, according to arrest records. The drug deals mainly were for “eight balls,” or 3.5 grams, of cocaine. Port St. Lucie Police arrested Patel on May 4, 2022, records show. A number of field tests of cocaine showed cocaine and fentanyl, though later analysis determined no fentanyl was present.

Sunday 27 August 2023 19:55, UK A gunman who shot dead three black people in a "racially motivated" attack in Florida has been named. Sheriff Waters said he used a Glock handgun and an AR-15 style rifle emblazoned with swastikas during his killing spree which occurred shortly before 2pm local time. Palmeter reportedly left several manifestos littered with racial epithets detailing his hatred of black people. Sundeep Singh Rai, 37, and accomplice Billy Hayre, 43, belonged to an organised crime group (OCG) responsible for the drugs - 30 kilos of cocaine and 30 kilos of amphetamine - being smuggled to the UK on a cargo plane from Mexico. NCA investigators knew about the importation and provided intelligence to partners in Border Force who found the drugs after the flight landed at Heathrow Airport on 26 May last year. The haul of Class A was removed and seized. NCA investigators allowed the empty consignment to run and monitored it. They watched as more than a week later on 8 June it was collected from a cargo holding area by a white Mercedes van and driven to the Greet Green Industrial Estate in West Bromwich. Rai, of Okehampton Drive, West Bromwich, and Hayre, of Hathersage Road, Birmingham, met the Mercedes van and unloaded the shipment into an industrial unit. The day after, Rai and Hayre – who both worked as housing officers at Sandwell Council – took delivery of another drugs shipment. The men met a heavy goods vehicle back at the industrial estate carrying a coverload of bananas. As the pair began unloading it, NCA officers supported by West Midlands Police officers, arrested them. Sundeep Singh Rai More than nine kilos of cocaine hidden in a cardboard box was also found in Rai’s car. Around two kilos of methylmethcathinone – also known by the street name of Meow Meow - was found in the garage of Rai’s home. And a property he rented in Balfour Crescent, Wolverhampton, was also searched where officers found 250 grams of heroin, 700 ecstasy tablets, a cash counting machine and a dealing list. Rai and Hayre initially denied charges of conspiracy to supply class A drugs but changed their pleas to guilty just before a trial was due to start at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 7 February. They were sentenced to 12 years imprisonment respectively at the same court today (25 August). The judge described the defendants’ version of events as ‘preposterous’. What has the NCA said about the case? NCA Operations Manager Chris Duplock said: “Rai and Hayre were behind a sophisticated attempt to smuggle class A drugs from Mexico on to the streets of the UK. “I have no doubt that had we not stopped them, they would have used this route repeatedly to bring in more drugs. “Working with partners at home and abroad, we will do all we can to disrupt the supply of class A drugs which are inextricably linked to gang violence and real suffering across UK communities.”
  8. Another one for @Veer and his anti Sikh propaganda Soft Target Description "Soft Target" is a term used by Intelligence Agencies for a country whose security system is lax and not fool proof. The authors called Canada and its government in the 1980s a "soft target" as the Canadian intelligence agencies either deliberately or otherwise failed to notice and curb the espionage activities of the Indian Intelligence Agencies to manipulate the Canadian Sikh settlers settled in India in order to defame the whole Sikh community. The book gives a new perspective on Punjab problem. Its version is reliable since it's written by members of the Canadian Intelligence network. It exposes the duplicity of both Canadian and Indian government[edit]

  10. You still are silent on Hindus vandalizing their own Temples then saying it was Sikhs! And Hindus have been caught trying to vandalize Gurdwaras You don't know much if you say majority of Sikhs there support Khalistan. Do you visit India often? If they are involved in human trafficking then what's the big deal? What other crimes are they involved in ? Please give examples https://www.geo.tv/latest/468639-indian-hindus-caught-vandalising-gurdwara-in-melbourne Indian extremists caught vandalising Sikh Gurdwara in Melbourne World Murtaza Ali Shah February 02, 2023 Four men, belonging to ultra-nationalist Hindutva groups, were nabbed by local Sikhs on the spot ShareNext Story >>> A screen grab in which the Khalistan poster can be seen sprayed black. — Screengrab/Reporter MELBOURNE: Four Indian Hindus linked with Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) andRashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) were caught red-handed outside Melbourne's Miri Piri Gurdwara to graffiti the Gurdwara and posters of revered Sikh leaders placed outside the Sikh holy place. A viral video shows four men, speaking fluent Hindi and Urdu, apologising for their attempt to vandalise the Melbourne Gurdwara a few hours before Khalistan Referendum was held at the Federation Square attracting over 55,000 Sikhs living in and around Melbourne. The four men, belonging to ultra-nationalist Hindutva groups, were caught by local Sikhs on the spot. According to local Sikh leaders, they saw the group moving around Gurdwara suspiciously in a car outside the Sikh holy place. They were seen with cans of spray, sticks and paint. When confronted, they admitted they came to vandalise posters on the property as well as the Gurdwara. The men, who apologised amid their confession, were handed over to authorities. A video that went viral shows the gang leader accepting that their intentions were not good. He says in the video: "We are sorry. We came here with the intention to spray the posters [of the Khalistan Referendum]. My name is Katan, the others are Dinish, Hardik and Rushil. We are from Indian Gujarat but we live here in Melbourne." He says in the confession video: "I am a Hindu. I am not against Punjabi Sikhs. We have come here to spray the posters." The Sikh youth then tell the mobsters that videos have been found in their phones of other Sikh Gurdwaras vandalised. The gang leader accepts that he has been involved in vandalising at other places.
  11. A very small minority , I'm sure there are relatively.many more Hindus who abuse Sikhs and mock Sikhs with things like Sardar jokes. And did not mention at least one incident of graffiting/vandalism was proven this year on social media to be Hindus doing it themselves.to.make Sikhs get the blame! Have you been harassed yourself?.
  12. I didn't say they are not involved in crime at all, I have posted many articles about seemingly UK born/raised Panjabis involved in crime and I know some relatives of relatives have been in prison for things like people smuggling, smuggling goods and even a possible manslaughter. UK Sikhs are now possibly the most highly educated and wealthy demographic in the UK now, I think you will find there is an inverse relationship between that and committing crime. And I am aware there are plenty in white collar criminal activities too like the recent Royal mail defrauding case I posted. Maybe you need to think outside of your urban life and see how Sikhs live in the suburbs before 'spouting shyte ' and trying to close down anyone who has a different opinion to you. And please don't tell me what to do. Thanks!

  14. I think you missed my point. Second and third gen UK Panjabis are not commonly.involved in crime. Many crimes by Panjabis in UK now seem to involve failed 'students' and 'asylum seekers' - these guys are not close to second or third gens born here
  15. Difference in Canada is that it seems to be mix of first and second gen gangs but in UK it's mostly first gen 'freshies' mainly ?
  16. @dalsingh101 ! sad news . not a funny story, but your favorite name features here...the names of the accused (and use of Singh than a family name) suggests they were 'freshies' and this seems to be some gang thing https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/shrewsbury-dpd-west-mercia-police-dudley-tipton-b2399553.html Four men charged with murder of delivery worker Aurman Singh, who was 23 and lived in Smethwick, died after he was attacked in Berwick Avenue in Coton Hill, Shrewsbury, on August 21.
