  1. yeh but when most people hear "its whats inside that counts" it sounds sortov....u no......lol in some film some guy says "only ugly people say that" haha (its nt tru tho).....its kinda patronising....im nt sure of the word im lookin for.....but nyway u can still b "beautiful" and have untrimmed eyebrows.....because its only at a certain spiritual stage that looks TRULEY cease to matter....u no wot i mean?
  2. um......was mohammed a prophet? most people would say yes. i would diss him because he married a 6 year old child (ayesha) and murdered a PREGNANT woman because she made poetic verses that competed with him. he pillaged villages and encouraged a "them vs us" attitude. guru gobind singh says in bachittar natak that he was sent by god and was given all of arabia, but his own ego and filth took over and "set up a cult". im not dissing jesus, im just saying why would he go to saachkhand if he hadnt obtained the naam? when he visited baba harnam singh he said "it is my request that all my followers join your panth"
  3. because people are lazy and dont have enough faith in god and guru. would you rather wake up at 1 am and have a cold shower or wake up at 10 and have a hot soak later on? gurbani says the beginning of the spiritual path is like licking a rock (ie not very fun) but when naam raas is obtained people never look back. im hoping to take amrit within 2 years. if you are properly prepared then the experience is life changing, many arent prepared and often break their rehat. alot of people dont bother at all because its too much hard work and waste their life.
  4. tell me how it is possible to have stuff like khalsa mehima before the khalsa was even created! the sarabloh granth was DEFINATELY not there until after 1699, and i am pretty sure that some of the dasam granth wasnt there either. therefore gurus amrit is invalid according to the nangs. i am interested about this bir. how can you be so sure it dates to exactly 1698? is it definately authentic?
  5. "women should not have their hair loose but tie it in a topknot on top of their head" - bhai daya singh, i think the 1st of the panj pyare. of course women should look like khalsas. usually when i see a sikh girl (amritdhari) i cant even tell if she is sikh - sometimes she looks like a paki with a hajib thingy, other times a hindu. its always easy to see a keski wearing lady. if u tie it neatly they look kinda gangstah.
  6. jesus is definately not in saachkhand. he never did any meditation etc. therefore he could not have found then naam. i heard somewhere that jesus asked for the secret of naam off baba harnam singh.
  7. lol im not trying to be harsh or nyting, but if u want gursikh friends then go and chill at the gurdwara more and just find some peeps there......u cant really be "friends" with someone over the internet im not dissin u r nutin, im jus saying that the best way to get a good sangat is to do it in real life. otherwise i dont think the saadh sangat really affects u much.
  8. all nihung wannabees have been getting at the bhaang and sharaab too much. in real life nihungs are the saaaafest people, so tolerant and gangstah...... anyway, dasam granth wasnt even finished by 1699 baisakhi. and i doubt much of sarbloh granth was done (if im correct most of it is khalsa related). maybe for dasam granth most bani was done, but it definately wasnt compiled or anything. bhai mani singh did that much later. the question i pose to the nangs is, does that mean the panj pyares and guru gobind singhs amrit is invalid? are the nihungs above the panj and the guru? can someone quote that kirpan de paul amrit rahitnama please.
  9. i had a semi-realisation (nothing special or divine really) about sikhi recently. i have realised there is no point arguing over such things because the point of view comes from the intention and attitude, and if people think its ok to slap makeup on, even if u tell them it is wrong and give gurbani quotes, their attitude in general wont change. if your intention behind makeup is HONESTLY just to stop sunburn, lol, then go ahead and wear it, but deep down if its to look prettier (and its usually more subconscious) u know its wrong. just ask yourself if your a girl, what would the mother of the khalsa do if she came in this day and age? what about the father, guru gobind singh? would a gurmukh use lipstick and makeup? why or why not? would guru gobind singh get a khalsa tattoo or a stud in his ear? most questions can be answered with very simple common sense.
  10. unlike islam sikhi isnt a cultural thing, its a spiritual thing. you dont have to wear a salwaar kameez, but ill wear a kurta later to get away from the temptations of brand names. when people say western clothes you dont have to associate it with skimpy tops for women etc, just wear something that doesnt show off your figure or too much skin. like cover the arms, etc - obvious stuff. i think anything is fine really, as long as its sensible.
  11. yes me and most other REAL gursikh guys find normal (ie kesadhari/keski wearing) girls attractive. its only because society has told you that hair is wrong that you have been brainwashed into thinking "i must keep removing my hair, otherwise i will never find a husband". its actually teh opposite....there are no gursikh women left any more....even my cousins are worrying me now....they have started wearing makeup n even bleaching their hair! there will always be the spirituality vs physical appearance debate, but the bottom line is, guru ji said "live as a kesadhari sikh" and "never give your daughter to a clean shaven".....if u want to be a sikh....you have to follow the gurus commands NOW, not in 10 years time and procrastinate saying "ill be ready then....im jus getting more spiritual first" recently i have tried to follow gurujis commands more...like wake up amritvela do more naamjaap....i set myself a time to start....the day before i was like "i aint ready to wake up at 2.....i wont be able to do it....maybe i should just wait a little bit, ill do it eventually" bt i just jumped in at the deep end and now its ez. on a slightly unrelated thought....i was thinking....alot of sikhs cry becuz they cant find a keski wearing girl, or all hte men drink and shave, there are no good sikhs left, look at the muslims they are so strict....but think about it......when have u last seen a muslim woman in a propa burkha (ie showing nothing but hte eyes (or one eye lol) as it says in hte quran? how many men actually keep a beard and wear the funny hat? so its not all bad......but it is pretty bad
  12. last year 220 sikh girls converted to islam. i find it is ironic how the most fallable religion is catching so many converts. the same could be done with sikhi is we made it a bit more missionary.......people always say "sikhi is not a missionary religion" where does it say that? guru arjun trained missionaries....how do u think 100 turned into 25 million? i think there are 6000 odd white sikhs in the uk....thats pretty good considering sikhs dont ever get off their ass.
  13. the action is irrelevent, it is hte intention. guru tegh bahadur refused to do a miracle to save his own life - guru nanak did a miracle to save mardanas life. miracles and spiritual powers are very very possible but they are kept under wraps. follow the rahit and youll understnad one day but they should never be used like cheap circus tricks!
  14. Namdhari like Bhai Ram Singh introduced the concept of non-violent protest. Without him there may never have been a Gandhi, or even Martin Luther King, without them the world situation may have been very different. Considering the tiny size of Sikhs in comparison to other groups (there are even more wiccans than sikhs) they have contributed far over what they are expected to, for humanity.
  15. guru granth sahib is unlike any other scripture because it was written directly by the founders of hte faith the original remains intact so we know no corruption has occured it has a mathematical system to prevent interpolations it is applicable to all mankind it does not add dogmas and impose ideas on dress and basic lifestyle it is written by enlightened souls rather than so called prophets its authors are also from different religious backgrounds so has a univeral message it has no scientific absurdities, neither does it claim to prophecise DNA and whatnot like eg the quran, but does have a number of scientific facts that were not available at the time, eg numerous solar systems, worlds, rotating earth, etc it is written in a script whcih was specifically developed for the purpose of writing it it is written in different langauges yet all seem to be coherant and come together .......if i was going to trust ONE scripture in the world.....i know which one it would be
  16. yo kaur....just wear a keski! just becuz some stoopid ppl abuse it doesnt mean its wrong or shud hold u back i dont understand how muslim women can go in their little black tents all day in boiling hot weather so no1 sees them....and sikh girls cant even leave their body alone!!! so little discipline.
  17. lol i dont actually live in bham but i go there sometimes..... wheres that? near aston? lozells?
  18. why would u need to remove hair from a bibi if she is giving birth? personally i would rather die than cut my hair. it sounds extreme, but true. once i was doing alot of conditioning of my shins on a wooden pole (thai boxing training) and i got a big bruise there, and i noticed there was a tiny patch where there was no hair on me leg  altho most people wouldnt have seen it as a bad/big thing (as it wasnt intentional) i felt guilty for about a week
  19. lol i kiked ali sinas ass a while back n he never replied
  20. or it could simply mean u can love god either way. its not like by having long hair u suddenly have the ability to love god. but loving god isnt always enough for mukti.......
  21. i would say they are the most perfect level a human being can reach. can u name a human better?
  22. no it isnt, but once u keep ur outward form, the pride u have in sikhi may compel you to take more steps in sikhi. and also, hajamat (removal of hair) automatically makes one a patit (shunned one.....lol) in sikhi. the removal of hair is one of hte biggest sins one can do....of course it shud b discussed alot!
  23. the gurus were souls who were enlightened to the pinnacle of bliss. guru gobind singh talks of mohammed in bachittar natak. he says god gave him all of arabia and the opportunity to preach a true creed but screwed up because of ego and set up "a cult". this is actually incredibly true - if we look at biographical accounts of mohammed, his original "revalations" were more peaceful and slightly more loving of god when he had little power, but as soon as he had an army and more ego all his "revalations" turned to killing the kufirs! its also worth mentioning that mohammed was celibate for the first part of his life but had over 11 wives after he had some power (after khadija died). geeza, no offence, but i am worried about all ur questions so far......im not saying blindly follow, but read into sikhi a little more.....question everything....but dont go criticising everything at every corner. guru gobind singh said anyone who worships me as god goes straight to jaam.
  24. im pretty sure bhagat kabeer had long hair anyway doesnt he talk about using his hair as a chauri to dust the feet of the saints? if so then has he contradicted himself? nah.
