  1. semi religious muslims (ie those who dont drink chase girls and stuff) but dont totally agree with all the craziness of the quran are safe to hang with. but those hardcore muslims in salwaar kameez who say islam is the only way need to be steered clear from.
  2. no where in sikhi does it say ur average bahman or moslem will achieve salvation - unless u can find me a quote that does. a sufi saint for example, is technically a "muslim" yet does not do any of the stuff your typical sunni muslim would do. they are peaceful and focussed on meditation. this kind of person will get mukti (MAYBE). if a hindu does pooja all his life, nothing will happen. but then again hindus have no structure or code of conduct to their religion. if a hindu spends his entire life meditating on 1 almightly god and reaches brahmgyani stage, then he will get to god. personally i believe that since very few people meditate alot and do this, its mostly sikhs who go to saackhand, but even your vast majority of sikhs dont make it. doing namaaz daily isnt enough, guru says that for salvation you need the gift of naam...once that is obtained u r sorted there was a wiked guru gobind singh quote from triyah chariter that says there is one truth, but accord to ones intellect it is expressed in a myriad of ways................
  3. nah muger singh its pritpal singh bindras one, and i saw it in a shop meself.....will get it next week fo sho! jtsingh......im not sure wat ur tryna imply........u saying the guru had to let out some spiritual energy????????????? gurbani is str8 from waheguru not some byproduct of stress.....and guruji was the perfect human and not affected by stress! i didnt get wat u meant about persian influence either. i think tis best to leave hakayat out of it since thats a totally different story due to authenticity issues.......its best to leave that to a different thread
  4. buy jodh singhs translation, usually about 25 quid  for the 2 volumes. its a good thing to have at home anyway. just make sure u treat it with respect (duh)......ive seen it at peoples houses just stashed away with all the other regular books.....tis still gurbani!
  5. i wasnt very impressed with that article, especially the sanjog/vijog thing. it could have been much better. eg - from what i have read in gurbani, one cud b talking about SGGS mentioning solar systems (japji) gas turning to water which in turn is used for creation evolution countless universes and galaxies guru tegh bahadurs mention of the big bang/"bubbling" the earth is round days seasons etc being controlled by the sun ratehr than by earth moon reflects light rather than produce it (i think i read that in sidh ghost) also mention of rotation of earth in DG rather than sun going round a flat earth (one of the chandi stories i think) those arent BS misinterpritations of words or vague phrases.......those are DEFINATE scientific references waaaaaaaaay ahead of their time....and there are prob loads more that i havent heard of or read
  6. i havent read all the stories but ive read probably about 20 of them from random sections. my personal feeling is yes, it is bani, please read it before you rip it out of it, although healthy debate is good. i dont know what akj views are and dnt particularly care, because from what i have read guruji doesnt glorify sex in any way at all infact it is a haaaarsh warning against it in the age where even some amritdhari/soon to be sikhs are having girlfriends and boyfriends, and sikh girls (im referring to monneh really) have a reputation of being the worst slappers of all asian girls, triyah chariter needs to be read MORE! im getting the entire set next weekend in english btw. theres a translation by pritpal singh bindra in 2 volumes, apparently his translation isa bit biased (against) tho.
  7. you keep your hair because the guru told you to, and the guru knows better than you do. i see alot of people trying to make big fat debates out of the hair issue, to cover the underlying subconscious issue, which is, i want to blend into society and i want to look like the goreh. if u lived in a pind in india, where everyone around you were 100percent gursikh, do u really think u would even think about cutting your hair? do u think the sahibzadas or bhai taru singh had a good long think about the reasons for keeping and not keeping his hair before his scalp was torn off? there have been good points raised already on why you shouldnt cut your hair, if you find yourself too emotionally frail or mentally weak to keep your hair, dont disguise it behind "ive never heard any good reasons" just admit what it really is. be honest - its the best way.
  8. yeh interesting..... are there any historical accounts of women getting amrit in guru jis time (mata sahib devan/kaur obviously but i havent seen a reference)....cuz a naamdhari website sed NO.....n i cudnt think of any examples that were explicitly documented
  9. either wayyyyyy........if sum1 reading this forum remembers a few questions from the list......when some muslim is tryna convince him ISLAM IS TRUTH and trust it happens alot.....he can turn it round on him and make the moslem tink bout it himself.....yeh it might cause discord but its better than ppl convertin away at this rate the "booklet" is nt gnna b much of a "booklet"....is alredy 30 pages
  10. How comes there are no really old accounts/rehatnamas of women being called "kaur" or given khanda de paul? Like Mata Sahib Kaur is called Mata Sahib Devan in her hukamnamas and old accounts? Can someone clever provide any old historical sources.......... (btw im not against women taking amrit (duh) ive just never seen any historical stuff)
  11. lol.....i dont live in a pind i live in london......and my "story" was made by me.....regardless of whether its siv or shiva the intention is still the same just like raam is used 4 god in SGGS or chandi is used as a metaphor for divine light in every human fighting the desires in chandi di var....doesnt actually mean that guruji even remotely CARES about shiva...theres some gurbani where guru gobind singh says "i do not acknowledge ganesha, nor krishna as importnat " or something like that
  12. Sikh kiddies are thinking that amrit is outdated and irrelevant to todays society, because they were just for the times of wars, etc.....how do u sort out that misconception?
  13. since iv bin born into a sikh family and ive never really wavered in my faith in sikhi i wudnt really know, but ive read a fair few manmukh to gurmukh stories, 1 was bhai rama singhs, and i found that REALLY inspiring, and a few others i found cool aswell. ive never heard anyone tell me a story, only red it in a book or on the net. yeh if u hear a lot i guess they cud get kind of patronising, i think the best thing 2 do is show what u CAN achieve as a sikh, and what people in the past HAVE achieved. there are plenty of strict muslims/christians because they are brainwashed into thinking the quran/bible is divine, the words of god etc and on the other hand the sikh kiddies are thinking that amrit is outdated and irrelevant to todays society, because they were just for the times of wars, etc.....how do u sort out that misconception?

  15. i didnt say buddhism was boring, i said ch'an buddhist meditation which i tried was boring. try it, youll be pleasantly (un)surprised. just sit there and try and clear ur mind of all thoughts. and then? urm...yep, thats it.
  16. the deh siva.......does actually refer to god, in kabiobach benti chaupai theres a line that goes something like "they erroneously call mahadev the eternal SIV" by worshipping a weapon......that is as bad as the hindus, becuz the hindus claim they are worshipping a facet of gods personality/virtues......so really there is little difference in my mind.....mayb sum1 can convince me otherwise how do nihungs do shahster puja anyway? bow to it - yeh thats orite....bt do they do nyting else?
  17. buddhists meditate on nothing-ness. its quite boring really, ive tried. its just like clearing your mind. i did a quick look into buddhism (ch'an) a while backand 2 b honest i was a tad confused......its got nice concepts but the idea of enlightenment is apparently when u realise "ur mind is the buddha mind".....but buddha in buddhism is just an enlightened soul.....so......... :? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Admin note: Khalsa soulja atleast give some respect to name you have chosen and use appropriate language to describe something. You need to keep this in your mind that this is "Sikh" website not "Desi" website. We have edited your post.
  18. hence the reason me n my m8s r makin a (short) book on sikhi for the youth for distributing at gurdwaras etc altho its coming along slowly slowly, ill post sum chapters up in the near future
  19. "but since sikhism wont ever die ther prob wont b for a while"         im interested in the kalki avtar stuff, but i havent really seen any sound scriptural reference to it, the whole thing about hte bani that guru nanak wrote didnt really convince me since no1 said where it came from (or maybe i just missed it) and it really didnt sound like guru nanaks words talking about unbelievers dying and whatnot (or mayb im wrong) amrit i wud b v interested 2 see references within dasam granth.....awaitin ur info........
  20. No, read my post. Think about it. Sikh men were given a unique form. Why were Sikh women kept the same? Can you recognise a Singhnee on the street (other than the kara)? Alot I see could be Muslim (because their chunni is dark) or hindu (becuz hindus wear chunnis aswell)..........the question is........why would Guruji not give a Singhnee full Khalsa roop in the same way he gave a man? How can a Singhnee maintain her identity and "Khalsa roop" when she looks so similar to those around her? Im not saying Keski girls are gurmukhs and non are manmukhs, or without a keski you go to hell, or without a keski you are a hindu, im just saying that i see a contradiction or question that doesnt appear to have an answer, other than it is possible that the original rahit may have recommended women to wear a keski.....u no wat i mean?
  21. yep, but none of us are guru gobind singh . apart from (modern) paintings, ive never heard guruji wearing lots of jewels. from what i heard he wore a nihung style conical dumalla with loads of chakkars on it.
  22. jjj.......wots a winter hat/cap??????? :? i prob dnt undastand wot u mean lol.....u are not showing off if u are wearing a keski....alot of ppl think its a kakkar....so they are following their rehat.....in the same way ur not showing off by wearing a kara its not as easy as u think for a girl to go out in a keski......much harder than it is for a boy i find it hard to believe that guruji would give men their own special sikh identity but leave women looking the same as the hindus.....and guru gobind singh says in his 52 commands "always wear a turban" and that is irrelevant of gender...as is the sau sakhi rahitnama telling u to keep a big and a little turban....plus theres bhai daya singhs rahitnama saying women should never keep their hair loose but tie a topknot....and ive never seen a bibi with a jurra just covered with a chunni (wud look a little silly IMHO) steel bangle......wot it sounds like is u are doin a dumalla....i do that...they r hevy
  23. even if chandi represents weapons, its still not right to worship anything other than akal purakh, obviously
  24. she doesnt want my style, she dnt like it lol wot style u learnin 2 do now steel bangle? panjabi style or dumalla? jjj.........everyone has a different interpritation of the rahit...call me taliban.....but when sikhi says "one who wears a hat is reborn as a leper" i tend to stay away from hats because guruji knows better than i do, its just a case of follow the rahit ..... if its out cold then tie a bigger phug
