  1. "devdas is gay.. da latest GUD bollywood releases: main hoon na hum tum don't ask me why i watched hindi movies!!..'cause most of time i am prettty much ...anti-hindi bullcrap" - Sherni-E-Punjab LOL omg, Devdas in my opinion was the only DECENT Hindi film that was ever made, it had a decent story line that was quite believable unlike most Hindi films, it had a good musical score, also the dance sequences were actually appropriate (quite rare in a Hindi film and not just random as was in most cases) and it actually made you give a toss about any of the characters. This is one of the few films that evoked sympathy in me which is very hard to do. WARNING SPOILLERS!!!!!! As for your other suggestions, Maine Hoon Na, "GUD" I don't think so!!! Come on, the storyline was worse than Police Acadamy7: Mission To Moscow (for those who havn't had the missfortune of seeing don't bother) for example since when was the military in charge of the so called largest democracy don't the primeminister have a say in "Project Milap" which in itself is a joke (though nice and idealistic in a way but ultimately futile to even suggest a thing). Then there was the VERY coincidental reunion of Ram (Sharukh) and his brother Lucky (Zayed), like who didn't see that coming. Also it was really stupid how it was briefly mentioned how Lucky failed his exams (again) so he would mess about for another year despite tuition fees which his divorced unemployed mother has to pay (very convincing!) Then there was the comic element which really really sucked, sure it would make you laugh but for the wrong reasons. The teacher that everyone would avoid was so lame, it was a half baked sub plot to fill about 20 min of this underflated balloon of a film. Another silly yet supposedly comic aspect of the film was where Ram would sing (unvoluntarily) to his chemistry teacher (who looked rather hot but thats beyond the point) and musicians would appear out of thin air. Even Scary Movie's randomness was far funnier than this. The only remotely funny thing in the movie was a Matrix spoof involving the lead character and some oversalivating teacher (lasted less than half a minute). The action was dissappointing and ripped off the Matrix massively. To sumerise the stupidity I'll mention two key memorable parts: Freeze frame (rip off of Matrix clear) with Ram floating in mid air, arch enemy some how strolls over to him despite every thing else not moving and cheesily elbows him like something out of WWE. Then there was the part near the end of the fight, the terrorist leader (Sunil Shetty) has his pistol aim at Ram, he gives a really tedious and over cooked speech. Aims, demands Ram to turn around (to make sure he kills the right man?) to shoot him, Ram ignores him, copter comes and Lucky (they like to push the limits of their storyline dont dey) calls Ram aboard, Ram quickly removes pin from grenade of baddie and hops onto the copter. Baddie is bewildered as his (druggie/hobo) outfit has too many pockets, decides not to take Ram down with him and blows up gracefully. Like the majority of Hindi films musical/dance scenes are random and most of the time innappropriate. My verdict is if you like comedy, action, and romance then don't be a cheapskate and rent this film, instead make the effort to watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind , Lord of the Rings (all 3 are good, if not then Saving Private Ryan) and Casablanca. Hum Tum Okay, I only like watched the first half of the film because it was that rubbish, from what I saw we have a naive pretty bimbo some "cool/slick" (pretentious I think) cartoonist guy. Remove the word cartoonist and you're left with a template for most Hindi films, the characters were very fake and generic. My mom who managed to watch the rest of this said it was "no good" and she is a fan of Hindi films and somehow managed to like Main Hoon Na despite me pointing out the stupidity of it so its best to assume that this one is rubbish. I know its likely I'll recieve backlash of the kind "you're too damn picky", "well thats your opinion", or this favourite "well I really enjoyed it". Well before you respond my to my post with kind of replies, my reply to that is "bees around honey, flies around $***". Basically there's people who preffer good films and then there's those who preffer rubbish films. A turds a turd no matter who likes it.
  2. Cool, really? I always knew I wasn't the only Sikh who did. My fav bands are Smashing Pumpkins, Greenday, Muse, Lost Prophets, David Bowie, Iron Maiden, Blink 182, Queen, Toto, Velvet Revolver, Rancid and Nirvana. What about you. I even got my own guitar and am learning to play.
  3. I know this is a bit late but I havn't been able to go on the forum recently. Anyway in response to Tejvir Kaur, Kal Ho Naa Ho portrayed Sikhs in a derogatory comical way rather than what you're implying as nice and inoffensive. What really annoyed me was the scene where the bibi shows her some photos of some Singhs asking her which one she liked and her response being "They all look the same". Also there was the scene where the Singh brought his sons over and they looked meek, goofy, shy and silly with the father and mother being swollen, pompous, loud and of course silly. Also did anyone notice how the bibi would idolise the photo of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, and at one point she was worshiping a shrine of Ganesh in their house. As for PMC, yeh that ONE hit was good but I was really put off by the intro to Mirza, come on what kind of image he trying to promote but then again he was already pandering to the ghetto/punjabi audience. As for me I'm into rock and metal (inoffensive music does exist yay!) :¬P :yo: before anybody comments no I do not like Slipknot or any of that thrash metal ok. Like they say "Whatever rocks your boat". O yeh and in response to lil princesse's suggestion that we should watch the matrix instead of boring hindi films, yeh the 1st one but come on reloaded and revolutions gotta be the worst sequels ever made in hollywood history, you should have suggested Lord of the rings now dat triliogy rules from beggining to end.
  4. The funny thing I find is that absolutely no Sikh on this forum has condemned p2p as stealing.
  5. Well go on this site, it has info and cheats on just about every game made(on every single platform just about): http://www.gamefaqs.com/
  6. This is to BabbarSher Thanks for the support but I'm happy with keeping my hair. I'm just annoyed at this pretentious and arrogant attitude that being clean shaven is better than keeping one's hair intact and that you're automatically ruled out for any girl (apart from mail order ones). This is to lil princess "well FINE then, i agree, yes some girls like that in some guyz (shaven punjabi)" - lil princess Well actually, where I'm from its actually lots of girls who are into the shaven type not just some. "but please why do u want to go change someone! why do u want to go after a hoochie mama!? why go after a girl that u know doesn't want to look at u because of what u are" - lil princess I havn't shaved and I don't intend to for anyone no matter what some people reckon I'm missing (I prefer the conservative type anyway). "if u ask me they are going to more insecurity b/c they lost faith in their religon" - lil princess Most guys I know who cut their hair wern't really religious in the first place and didn't feel that they've lost much, in fact there's this firm belief that becoming an amrithari isn't necessary at all and that only people who intend to become granthis require it. Which is why I think most guys find the decision to cut their hair so easy because they think there isn't any stigma attached. "i mean i can say the same about guyz, i pluck my eye brows, shave my legs, have piercings.... but i am not blaming it on guys, im blaming it on myself, and thats another issue!" - lil princess Well thanks for sharing that but I havn't conceded my hair and facial hair. I was critisicising attitudes of most Sikhs so rant at them not me. BTW being in Leicester, there are much more religious guys than there are religious girls, I don't think its the girls fault though, I don't think parents place enough emphasise about religious with girls (I havn't bothered to elaborate here but if I'm wrong correct me anyway). This is to Jamuka This wasn't a stupid debate. It wasn't really a debate at all. I don't follow any Sants or Babas so I don't know where you get that from. I never did say you had to have a turban or a beard to be Sikh (but it wouldn't hurt if everyone could have some commitment towards their spirituality). I just criticised commoun practises of many so called Sikhs (who also include those with patkay but booze) in my locality (hence I typed Leicester) and if you can justify them I'll be glad to apologise.
  7. I partly agree with Singh47. But it's also the guys who are also to blame as well. What I've seen in Leicester is what I call "Jatt culture," meaning as long as you wear a ridiculously chunky kara and a gold khanda necklace, speak Punjabi fluently (no need to read), emphasise on jatt pride and listen to bhangra music you are a Sikh and no-one can question it no matter what you do (even eating halal meat doesn't seem the slightest bit wrong). The few real Sikhs (including myself) are seen as extremists "gianis," "khalsa crazy" etc so with this kind of attitude who's gonna be religious. Also I reckon guys only shave just to pull girls, I keep getting the same crap from my mates when the subject of girls pops up "How you gonna get a gal wit dat bush on yo face", "Monks arn't supposed to be on the pull" or "What kind o gal wud wanna friction burn." I havn't actually asked any girls (not something you say in everday conversation is it!) what they think but from things I've seen, it does seem to be true that clean shaven faces are the best and this adds a lot of peer pressure to look "good". Doesn't everybody hate that sheep mentality?
  8. Good quote too, about time I found something for my profile.
  9. "No Ignoring !!!! They will take your ignoring to be your weakness. No more toleration to such comments !!! of course unless u want the whole world to think that we are stupid. Lets be united and act. Things will start as a joke, and future generations fed on these jokes will eventuallyt think that sikhs are in reality dumb." - BabberSher I couldn't agree more, look at how goray think of the Christians and the Irish in the UK. He should at least make a sincere apology to make amends. But on the other hand I doubt that his one little joke is going to make any difference to most peoples attitudes to Sikhs. Over here (well at least as far as I know) Sikhs are seen as intelligent, entrepreneurial and hardworking (stereotyped as doctors and factory owners) so doubt his tripe would make much difference.
  10. This is a reply to Beast (sorry that it is late). I'm writing from my own experience in Leicester. Notice that I use the word "most" as well, I don't slander all monay, nearly all of my uncles, aunties, and even my parents are monay but they have respect for their faith. However I was talking about the Sikhs I have encountered in the Leicester (those between 13-18 ). Of course there are monay that do behave but they are significantly smaller in number than those who are blasphemous. Don't forget that different areas are not all the same, I've been to Walsal and as far as I know, the Sikh community there is mainly religious. My opinion is not biased no matter what you say, get a social life and you might actually see the kind of things that go on. I do look down on certain people, I look down on philanders, hypocrites, misers, racists, hoes, druggies etc. I don't see why I should sympathise with this kind of trash. I'm not saying that the only Sikhs are those of the Khalsa, it is just that mona is one of the best terms (in my opinion) to use for someone of Sikh origin who does not maintain long hair which the majority of the apostates are. I apologise if you can think of a better phrase. Beast what do you think is acceptable behaviour? Do you really think that guys like me are arrogant fools because we wish to disencourage liberal behaviour?
  11. That article is so true. "White" culture has no shame or remorse for their actions its no surprise that these Sikhs had it bad. "If Goray don’t tease you then Apnay will. Our monay kids put a lot of peer pressure on Keshadari kids to become like them." - Singh47 I couldn't agree more, (most) monay just want to have fun, booze, tobacco, indecent intimacy and in some cases bongs and other paraphernalia. Its no surprise that they insult us, to them we are just old fogeys who they think need to loosen up (well that's the attitude I've been sensing). What annoys me the most is how they wear chunky karas, Khanda necklaces etc whilst being so hypocritical and even have the nerve to call themselves Sikhs whilst endorsing Jatt pride as well which I find a contradiction.
  12. I understood that very well. He's tryings to say that a child will develop a mentality from their parents. This mentality will be the basis of how the child will react to certain things, most people just don't go on a killing spree if they see a horror film or take heroin after seeing Pulp Fiction because they have raised to think that you shouldn't do that. To simply say the child will cave in to peer pressure is ridiculus, if the child has no strong opinion on smoking when offered a cig then he/she is likely to try it. Same with beer when the child comes of drinking age, if the child hasn't been told that alcohol is evil and has seen many of his/her relatives drinking than he will have no obligation not to drink. It is a well known fact that religious teenager is less likely to try drugs than a non-religious teenager. PM either of us if you don't understand still.
  13. I still think parents are the most important part of a child's development. If a child is taught to think as a Sikh, he/she will resist most peer pressures such as smoking, drinking and sex (unfortunately bullying and material posession most can't resist). However I totally agree with you about the white washing, most of my cousins hardly know anything about Sikhism and are all into the ghetto scene. I've never heard about children ringing the police though, when ever I used to get slapped, I'd just accept it knowing I did something wrong. It's a real shame that a lot of Sikhs are becoming liberalised/secular and that there isn't anyone to rally those Sikhs left to prevent any more damage being done.
  14. Hey stop arguing. Amrik$ingh, you shouldn't insult someone if they don't say something you like, instead justify why you think he is wrong/incorrect. We are here to discuss like friends not debate like enemies. Which brings me to my next point: "I'm older than you are and I have more education as well as experience in life than you...Looking forward to the next time you stop by (on your daddy's computer)." - Shasterkovich Everyone's point is relevant regardless of education or material possesions. Also age doesn't make one superior, its what one has done in their time that matters so don't assume that just because someone is younger than you that doesn't mean that they have an inferior intellect to you. Sri Guru Har Krishan Ji is a good example of this.
  15. What I'd recommend is that the parents teach their children from an early age, morals, punjabi and to keep kesh. Once the child reaches adolesance he/she will be able to think for himself and if taught properly will wish to learn more of Sikhism if not they will just want to follow pop culture and go down a spiral of moral decay. Not necessarily should the child be taught gurbani, just things like it wrong to say certain words, that stealing is wrong and that God who loves all doesn't look so kindly on those who do wrong (also evildoers should like glamour models or sex symbols should be discouraged as well). Having learnt some important morals, the child will take interest when he/she is older and will be inquisitive to learn more, eventually they will become god Sikhs through their own effort.
  16. Don't take offence but I don't believe that prediction. Think of it like this, over 25 million Sikhs(including those who call themselves Sikh for the sake of it) in a growingly secular world with a population of approximately 7 billion people. With Islam and Christianity the fastest growing religions, I don't see how Sikhs are supposed to rule unless we suddenly breed like rabbits or hide in fallout shelters hoping the rest of the world blows each other apart. I'm not saying Sikhism will die out but I think it will stay as a minority religion. I don't see why you're fussing about it anyway, I don't think it matters how large a religious belief is, it's values of the religion that matter. Just look at Islam, Muslims are always showing off that their religion is fastest growing but that doesn't mean that they are right.
  17. I'm not saying it is totally the guy/gals fault (it is partly because they won't repent even if you explain to them that they are being immoral). I was trying to say it is too late and futile to try to aim at teens. I think it is largely the media's fault that so many of the young generation have detracted or become ignorant of the real values of Sikhism. A lot of parents don't emphasise enough on religion, I'm not saying they don't bother but not enough is mentioned and instead they emphasise on trying to get a job after finishing school (whether it be with education or not). Then as a result, they (juveniles) without the guidance of God become assimulated into pop culture and fashion trends which in turn causes peer pressure to try out drugs or to have sex. I believe that no-one could be more responsible than the parents as they have the influence to affect the child's way of thinking and therefore the child's future actions.
  18. Yeh I guess Beast is correct (though statistics do prove things depending on the context in which they are used). I don't think Denmark tightened up its policy or Sweden (Sweden's known for having a strict drug policy). I know Holland has because the Christian Democratic Party has taken over there. I don't see why don't have an immigration policy like Australia.
  19. "Have you considered that these figures (if accurate)..."- Shasterkovich You questioned my statistics and I have shown the sources. Don't question if you don't expect a reply. "To confirm what?" - Shasterkovich I'd assume that you'd use your initiative and know that I was talking about your quote: "The cultural habit of having many children can be seen not to survive even one or two generations in UK immigrant families." - Shasterkovich I don't believe that this is entirely true, it is still quite prevalent in the slums and council estates where the majority of them still live. I just want you to back up your statement.
  20. crap typo! i ment to say: what's stopping them from having many children instead of what's stopping them from not having many children
  21. These statistics are based on: World Almanac and Book of Facts - 1935 Readers Digest Almanac and Yearbook - 1983 The CIA World's Fact's Book - 2001 I don't think you can get any more accurate than that. "The cultural habit of having many children can be seen not to survive even one or two generations in UK immigrant families." - Shasterkovich But they STILL ARE on the increase and organisatons like HUT are running a muck. If second or third generation Muslims are still speaking with the freshi accent and going missionary on our girls then what's stopping them from not having many children. By the way what sources have you read to confirm this.
  22. Here are some facts, France has an approximate poulation of 60 million of which 5 million are Muslim and before it had been 100,000 in 1946. That's a 55 fold increase since now and then due to a lenient immigration and birth control policy. Holland also has a growing problem, of the 20 million inhabitants, 8 million (a conservative estimate) of them are Muslim. It's safe to assume that Holland will be 99% Muslim by 2044 if they are left unchecked. Denmark isn't faring to well either, there are 1 million Muslims and 5 million Danes. Within forty years 1 out of every 3 Danes will be Muslim if things continue as they are. I use to think Britain was crowded with them but surprisingly they only make 2.7% of the population (1,579,229 out of 58,489,975).
  23. As an optional extra curricular activity? If you havn't already noticed, most Gurdwaras offer GCSE and A level Punjabi classes which teach moral issues but the majority of Sikh teens see it with comtempt and think that as long as you can speak a few words you're automatically Sikh. "U cant force anyone to learn the subject if that buddy dont like to do so. Or does ot possible." Well why bother asking the question then? Do you really think that given the choice, that some Punjabi ghetto wannabe would want to give up his girlfriend, clubbing lifestyle and cigarettes just to live the life of a saint? You're forgetting that we are dealing with a very superficial generation with a liberal ideology and apathy for religion.
  24. Well you've forgotten that religion is separate from the state and has no influence on the government including education. At my school, we only ever learn about moral issues in R.S or English and even then our teachers don't even imply that doing certain things are wrong (not even from an atheist view point). They leave it up to the class to discuss whether something is right or wrong and usually obscene comments are made in favour of outer-marital sex or drugs. Our teachers would have a lax approach to these obscenities and would not even critiscise them. The only thing that we can do is to set up Sikh schools which would encourage and distil religious and moral values into the pupils or we can take a more conservative approach towards the media and regulate/censor the innappropriate filth in music, TV and internet. If we can do that (which I doubt is possible) , sex and drugs won't be as glamorous as they are now and the youth will find religion more appealing as their minds will have less corruption than that of Ghetto wannabes who see religion as an unnecessary apendage that only gives them unnecessary guilt when try to achieve happiness through imoral means. I doubt that there is anything else we can do to spread moral values without upsetting liberals who would use the excuse that it would impede on their lifestyles and that it is ultimately their decision whether they choose be moral or not. To make matters worse they would also argue what morality is and would claim that morality is relative to the current ideology of a society thus making much contraversy with little being solved and the liberals having won due to the permissive attitude of society.
  25. All of dat is so true. It's bad enough that there are plenty of "Sikhs" trying to act ghetto but when you actually get any who try they are usually any of the ones N30 mentioned.
