Gurbani and Meridian Points

Recommended Posts

I was once told that some of the power of Gurbani comes from the fact that if prononced correctly certain meridian points within the mouth are stimulated by the tongue, lips etc. This sequence of stimulation 'generates' (or whatever the technical term is,) the chi/ki/prana energy within the body and effects you accordingly.

Has anybody heard this theory before?

3 cheers for Jogi Bhajan, hip hip....

No seriously, there may be something in it. There is perhaps no greater respect given to the purity of recitation than in the Vedic traditions.

Siksa (Phonetics), Vyakarana (grammar) and Nirukta (lexicon, etymology) need to be totally understood and mastered through personal tution. On top of this there are many methods of chanting one mantra which are able to detect mistakes made via syallable tests.

The reason so much emphasis is placed on perfect recitation is due to the oral nature of Vedic transmission of thousands of years before they were finally written down. Where as messages of new faiths were written down practically immediately.

Actually it wasn't Yogi Bjajans but an AKJ lady who told us at a Sikh Camp over a decade back!

Siksa (Phonetics), Vyakarana (grammar) and Nirukta (lexicon, etymology)

Are these taught as seperate subjects in traditional vidiyalas or just part of the main Vedas learning?

Do Modern Sikhs teach incorporate this as part of saanthia training ( or is it seen as too Hindu)?
