I posted this elsewhere, but I thought some of the shastar afficionados might enjoy these vids of the European longsword (mostly in the tradition of Johannes Liechtenauer) in action. Its quite basic stuff, but thats what would be expected with such a inflexible weapon as the long sword. Problem with such large weapons is that you 'commit' more than with smaller lighter weapons. Also, the need for them to go blade on blade is pretty crude - would have also been better if the attacker had followed through with a few more counters. I expect the guys fighting with these sorts of weapons would be very strong and also clunked up with armour... Good to see these guys trying to study and revive their medieval traditions though.
