vah ji vah, dhan dhan sant maharaj ji sevadars who stay with their murshid until end and did bhagti.

It's been told that it was not easy to stay in sant maharaj dera to do bhagti or seva. One had to go through vigorous schedule of seva and simran with very little space to even "sigh" or "yawn" or "sleep". Many students tried to stay in the dera but most of them couldn't survive days let alone months or years of tapasaya. As mahapursh used to say, at the first you have to push(hat) yourself to be vigorous in simran then after some time naturally surti get imbued in samadhi.

Anyway there is a huge difference between bihungams in puratan times and bihungams(celibate) sevadars in dera now. These days every bihungam(celibate) sevadars of mahapursh have cell phones, satellite T.V, laptop, video mp3 players, credit cards. Real concept of bihungam/celibate in Sikhism which was tyaagi tapasavi who embrace celibacy to do immense seva and bhagti is slowly becoming extinct.

It's true - you had no choice but to wake up at Amritvela - they even took register! Also, no eating until Nitnem was complete, even if it took all day.

Huuuuge difference! Not just in behingums, but in Mahapursh as well. However there are still places where the sewadars have to 'walk the walk' or they get kicked out - things like doing minimum 101 Jap Ji Sahibs daily etc.
