How Do We Resolve The Clash Of Rehat (Time) And Modern Times?

How do we resolve the clash of rehat (time) and modern times?

I see alot of people want us to go back to 300 years or 500 years back into the good old days but we are living in modern society with technology and newer interactions and surrondings, so how do we go about such a thing? I see there are things in todays world which does not work with Sikhism like drinking, drugs, sex rock and roll all that jazz. And there are people who see the merits of what Sikhism and the past had, how do we merge these two oceans together for the betterment of the Sikh community. Even though most Sikhs do not even know all rehat and alot of us still need to study them and overcome the clashes between each jatha and how we understand panthic maryada.

I would say that a lot of people are slowly realising that many aspects of the 'modern life' you talk of are often harmful, shallow and unnatural. That is why so many people convert to religion in response in my opinion.

In that respect people do often yearn for a simpler, more wholesome, spiritually and ecologically holistic lifestyle.

The battle between 'modernity' and traditional lifestyles is far from over or concluded. Any large ecological disaster may set back the modern stuff seriously, then we'll be back to more basic lifestyles and rules of governance.

How about something like wearing bana? compared to suits? Also how about something like invasive surgery that requires shaving of hair or female facial hair it is a very complicated issue because it would require pesh-> what if someone in such a surgery died during the surgery? Or a Sikh who has cancer and looses hair from the therapy or has to cut it off.

It is not the rehat but more like how the culture of some people is emphasised almost like religion such as some people have a culture of telling people off, even hitting domestic violence when compared to verbal dialogue diplomatically how cultural issues come around.

Where does it say that a sikh has to wear a bana at all times? Apart from that there is nothing to stop a man from wearing a bana, many members of the 3HO do it.

This is nothing new. In persian accounts of the sikhs they are slandering the sikhs as filthy people who dont shave their hairs so this has always been the norm... In surgery you just do pesh afterwards..

Or a Sikh who has cancer and looses hair from the therapy or has to cut it off.

Kesh is not about having long hair, its about having UNCUT hair.. so if you're bald due to cancer it does'nt mean that you have violated anything.. as long as you dont cut it.. some people dont grow a beard however they are still keshdharis since they have'nt cut the few hairs they do have..

People are like sheep.. Where one sheep goes, the others follow behind.. most people do likewise.
