I have heard that using the Dattan to brush your teach makes them strong which is why during olden times, people did not have teeth falling out even at old age. But now with people using modern things like tooth brush/paste and shampoo they are having their teeth and hair fall out at old age.

Massage your gums.

Yeh , i would say the same..

People automatically jump to increasing strength of enamel and bone, but if your gums are weak...then that's not going to help.

The only dhesi tip that I know is to massage your gums with ginger root, or if you have problem grinding down fresh ginger, go for the powder. It works a miracle for sore gums.

I just just do it with my finger, tongue or a tooth pick (I make sure its blunt first!!). But I have also heard of using Mustard Oil with salt in it to massage your gums and teeth.

Two of the benefits of a Dattan is 1 the chewing on the tough bark and 2 the fibre rubbing against the teeth. 2 can come from brushing your teeth but 1 can only come from chewing plants. If you eats lots of raw vegetables in salad like carrots and cabbage that are tough to chew then it has a similar effect as dattan.

Dattan of neem tree is great because of the medicinal properties of the tree.

Sometimes we do not understand it but there is a lot of wisdom in the lifestyle of the elderly generation. During their time they didn't have tooth brush/past and shampoos. They used Dattan and instead of Shampoo they used yogurt. My Grand mother tells me that when she was young there were barely any bald people back then as baldness has become so common today. Even the medications they took, it was made by experienced Hakeems who had knowledge of the ancient sciences of Ayurveda. Today our people have abandoned all these things and take modern medicine which almost always has side effects.

I am 49 years plus and I do not have tooth decay or any of the tooth problems... ( yet) . My diet is is normal punjabi malaysian diet and I am addicted to 'teh tarik' a sweetned condensed Milk tea. Therefore I am entitle to speak my remedy, which could be none of the above suggestion, for a strong healthy teeth and a strong gums with a half century experience :-

a. having a bad habit of grinding teeth but not regular.( this could strengthen the gums and the teeth);

b. was doing weights (body building);

c. using hard bristle( or medium hard,) while brushing my teeth after breakfast , this brushing is done with medium force when the hand push the brush against the teeth/gums. I guess the force strengthen it.

d. being using one brand of toothpaste only since I remember..when I was 3 years old.
