A Tail Of Love! Indian Teen Marries Stray Dog

Hinduism and Hindustani andhviswas is the laughing stock of the world. The Bhamans on here fantasising about their slum infested country becoming a superpower should realise that this doggie-matrimony better represents the state of Hindustan than the cut price Mars mission.

Missed your little comment here. So, is worshiping some invisible deity sitting in heaven who never really seems to show up when needed and categorized by science as non-existent "andhviswas?"

But the followers of this invisible deity seem to do far worst than this girl - bomb, kill, rape, behead, and money grab.

Its like all these people who are saying jyotish vidya as crap, fraud and against science but have no qualms about "donating" millions and spending countless hours trying to please their friend in the sky.

Or as I would say " If my water can't reach the sun how is your ardas going even further guruji?"

Hypocrite.

A belief someone can predict the future?

hmm not too sure of that, but wouldnt really go to someone who would predict the future, by marrying species of the creation un-naturally.

or a belief that marrying someone can be disastrous?

an animal is NOT someone.

or a belief that a second marriage will not be disastrous?

the order of marriages has no bearing on it success/failure.

How do you claim this is part of Hinduism rituals ??? Can you quote any scriptures which address to this ritual ???

I can't on either of the above questions. So I would assume that this has no place in religion/dharma or the world in which we live in.

By the way Punjab has a good number of cases where cousins are married ..so should they then call it related to Sikhi ???

Marrying humans to other species is not the same as humans inter-marrying in any book. And I mean any book.

I dont know why people worship this Brahma in his heaven or Shiva and Vishnu in theirs, cos they never, as you say, turn up when needed.

Why are the followers of these invisible deities killing and money grabbing?

Why are these followers of these invisible deities doing so much harm to others?

The answer is that they haven't been married to dogs to make their future lives better. (Many would argue they have turned into dogs themselves, but that's a topic for another day.)

So let's get these followers of these invisible deities who science categorizes as non-existent and marry them to dogs for India's sake.

Blind faith is blind faith. Whether it's that girl marrying the dog or people bowing before their invisible friend day in and day out. Everybody does it because it thinks its going to make their lives better.

You should be against blind faith but it has to be hog out. No cherry picking. ALL RELIGION by definition is blind faith.

The statement above shows the difference between the Hindu mind and the Sikh mind. Bowing to the Creator is not the same as marrying Fido in the hope your life will change for the better!

and on the daily mail website someone posts what everyone would have thought of when they first read this story

Yeah, and this is coming from a country (Britain) where bestiality is considered legit. And this country runs a space programme as well. Like the two are related. Douche!

Bestiality brothels are 'spreading through Germany' warns campaigner as abusers turn to sex with animals as 'lifestyle choice'

  • Animal welfare officer Madeleine Martin problem of 'erotic zoos' is growing
  • She tells of farmer whose once friendly sheep began refusing human contact
  • So when he put CCTV in his barn he watched men file in and abuse his herd

By MATT BLAKE

Bestiality brothels are spreading through Germany faster than ever thanks to a law that makes animal porn illegal but sex with animals legal, a livestock protection officer has warned.

Madeleine Martin told the Frankfurter Rundschau that current laws were not protecting animals from predatory zoophiles who are increasingly able to turn to bestiality as a 'lifestyle choice'.

She highlighted one case where a farmer in the Gross-Gerau region of southwest Germany, noticed his once friendly flock of sheep were beginning to shy away from human contact.

Shock discovery: Ms Martin told of one case where a farmer rigged a CCTV camera in the rafters of his barn after finding his normally friendly sheep refusing human contact, to discover multiple men sneaking in in the dead of night to sexually abuse his beloved livestock

So he rigged a CCTV camera in the rafters of his barn to discover multiple men sneaking in during the night to sexually abuse his beloved livestock.

'There are now animal brothels in Germany,' Martin told the paper, adding that people were playing down the issue by by describing it as a 'lifestyle choice'.

Armed with a host of similar case studies, Ms Martin is now calling for the government to categorically ban bestiality across the country.

Defenceless: There are even 'erotic zoos' which people can visit to abuse animals ranging from llamas to goats

Last November German authorities said they were planning to reinstate an old law forbidding sex with animals after a sharp rise in incidents of bestiality along with websites promoting it.

Parliament began debating changes to the national Animal Protection Code with the agricultural committee of the Bundestag pledging fines of up to £20,000 for a first offence.

Bestiality dropped off the statute books as a crime in 1969 but in recent years the number of people believed to be participating in such acts has increased significantly.

There are even 'erotic zoos' which people can visit to abuse animals ranging from llamas to goats.

Hans-Michael Goldmann, chairman of the agriculture committee, said the government aimed to forbid using an animal 'for individual sexual acts and to outlaw people 'pimping' creatures to others for sexual use.'

German 'zoophile' group ZETA has announced it will mount a legal challenge should a ban on bestiality become law.

'Mere concepts of morality have no business being law,' said ZETA chairman Michael Kiok.

When the 1969 law banning sex with animals was banned the Animal Protection Law was introduced, but it failed to include a specific ban on zoophilia.

The terms bestiality and zoophilia are the formal names for having sex with animals for pleasure.

how many guides/religious texts tell people to bow before the creator, and how many tell to marry a dog to make their future life better?

Human beings do all sorts of stuff that are not considered legit by the standards of religion - some of them you can find in threads on this very forum. One corrupt gyani grabs a bibi and tries to kiss her does that mean we have to stop the Khalsa panth?

Mr. Tony in his infinite wisdom is relating the dog marrying incident to the space programme.

By that standard, he should be speaking out against German beastility which is perfectly legit under German law and is growing. He should be questioning the Germans as well. No?

As for your religious texts - there are technically only a handful - the growing number of texts in the world deal with rationalism where the creator either does not exist or is irrelevant.

I think people are just jumping on their bandwagon without recognizing the subtleties that may be present in the story. And we know the truth is subtle. An elephant cannot grasp it. Only an ant can subtly pick it out, like sugar particles in dust. (Bhagat Kabir, 972)

Bhagat: A belief someone can predict the future?

Chatanga: hmm not too sure of that, but wouldnt really go to someone who would predict the future, by marrying species of the creation un-naturally.

B: Well first let's understand what's going on. A Guru predicted "that marrying a man would only bring destruction to the family and the community"

That's the prediction that if this woman marries a man, it will be disastrous.

B: or a belief that marrying someone can be disastrous?

C: an animal is NOT someone.

B: That question is referring to the prediction. 'Someone' is referring to a 'man'.

B: or a belief that a second marriage will not be disastrous?

C: the order of marriages has no bearing on it success/failure.

B: The village elders believe that the first marriage is problematic. Whoever she marries, the spell will be transferred to them.

So the elders reason that if she marries a dog, the spell will be passed on to the dog. The dog is much less capable than man at causing destruction. If the spell is given to a dog, it can not harm the life of a human. In order to prevent the spell from transferring to a human and causing harm to humans they marry her to a dog first.

We are missing a lot of info. The news is clearly biased. But from what I can gather, this is sound reasoning.

Their are three beliefs operating behind the actions of the villagers.

A belief someone can predict the future

A belief that marrying someone can be disastrous

A belief that a second marriage will not be disastrous

I asked you which belief you disagree with and why?

Ok, so leaving religious texts out of the equation still leaves us with the key word - rationalism.

I can understand the views of both parties here, on the one hand this space program could be the start of a new era of economic enterprise for india, and that is good news, on the other hand if you ask the families of those who, as Tony has said die in alarming numbers every day, they would feel otherwise.

It comes down to priority, what would you like to see done first, having a country where people are dying everyday for want of food and a successful space program with the potential to ensure exciting future gains for the country, OR a country where people are eating properly, yet there is no, or a delayed space program with the potential to expand enterprise?

If I were in that situation personally, I would like to see people fed first. But thats me, others may differ.

But I'm reminded of a remark by irman khan of pakistan, when he asked "why is pakistan spending so much on maintaining a massive army for some supposed showdown with india, when large parts of the country are without adequate food?"

The answer as to whether we should spend money on poverty reduction or the space race is simple. The answer is both. Concurrently, as human beings have always done.

The space race is going to be worth about 500 billion dollars in the next few years and its in Indias interest to get a piece of the pie.

Today, a poor fisherman can get all the information he needs right to his cellphone because of Indias space program to not only find the best fishing spots and to get the highest money possible for his catch.

http://www.economist.com/blogs/economist-explains/2013/11/economist-explains-0

"Take one recent example: a fierce cyclone that hit India’s east coast last month killed few, whereas a similar-strength one in the same spot, in 1999, killed over 10,000. One reason for the improvement was that Indian weather satellites helped to make possible far more accurate predictions of where and when the storm would hit. Otherwise, improved data on monsoon rains, or generally shifting weather patterns, can help even the poorest farmers have a better idea of when to plant crops. -

Some experts say Isro has paid for itself several times over
Fishermen in the southern Indian state of Kerala are receiving a much-needed boost in their efforts to find dwindling shoals - from the country's space programme.

For many generations, fishermen in the area have relied on traditional methods such as reflections in the moonlight - or even their sense of smell - to find the best places to cast their nets.

But as competition for the fish becomes more intense - with several foreign vessels now in the waters - the boats are using satellite technology to track fishing grounds they may have overlooked before.

"When you consider the human labour involved in the operation, when you consider the fuel costs, and then compare it against the quantity of fish caught, this is economically viable," VS Pelies, a fisheries consultant and former director of the Marine Fisheries Research Centre in the city of Kochin, told BBC World Service's Global Business programme.

"The satellites help it remain so. The satellites reduce the searching time.

"We waste lots of time in searching for a sizeable shoal... satellites have given them at least an area.

"Luckily for us, the current is very strong and the wind and wave action is very strong. The shoal will not get distributed at least for a day or two."

Commercial spin-offs

Once the satellites have spotted a shoal, the information can be distributed to the fishermen via mobile phones and the internet.

Alternatively, some fishermen travel with a larger ship, equipped to receive the information from space - and then relay it to smaller fishing boats.

_39865479_insat203.jpg
Satellites are able to track fish from space...
It is one of the practical results of the Indian space effort, which began 40 years ago in Kerala.

Vikram Sarabhai, the "father" of the Indian space programme, said his vision was to "connect the people, connect the world."

Another way the space programme is being put to use is in a new hospital at the Amrita Institute of Medical Science in Kochin.

There, large screens show patients in beds 4,000 km away. Experts at the institute can examine the patients via satellite TV beamed from space in what is known as "tele-medicine."

This, its pioneers believe, saves time and money by abolishing the frontiers to treatment in the vast sub-continent.

Some critics, however, point out that the internet could probably be used in similar way.

Others argue that tele-medicine and other schemes like it are a gloss put over to disguise the fact that, in their view, social benefits from the space programme are being put aside in favour of commercial spin-offs.

Selling information

The Indian Space Research Organisation, Isro, has tried to be as self-reliant as possible in the technology it uses - despite a tiny budget in comparison to, for example, Nasa, the US space agency. And it has a substantial commercial arm in the form of Antrix, based in Bangalore.

_39866165_fishindia203.jpg
...which then end up on sale in the market
"When we started this programme, we stated that as a policy, whenever we could go to industry, we would go to industry - rather than doing it in-house," Isro's Srinaner Murti said.

"This is one of the important policies we have taken."

Isro's budget is $450m annually, 40% of which is spent on Indian industry.

One example of Antrix's activities is the taking of data from satellites, and selling this information in the market.

"Particularly downstream, there are a large number of companies which operate in the computing market," Mr Murti said.

"That way, space could be seen as a catalytic investment - particularly the satellite and launch vehicles provide a basic infrastructure for a large number of industries for the downstream services."

Bangalore has been benefiting from the space programme since it was established in the 1950s. Around 1,000 industries are partners of Isro, some supplying the extraordinary specialist equipment needed for rockets and space exploration.

Education

But some feel that there is too much money in the space programme - money that could be spent easing the tremendous poverty in some areas of the country.

"I don't believe that not enough resources are going into the requirements that are uniquely Indian," S Shandreshaker, a consultant at the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore, told Global Business.

_39866091_bangalorebbc203.jpg
Bangalore is the hub of India's technology revolution
"We have a large number of people who are illiterate. We have a large number of people who don't have access to adequate health care.

"If India is to sustain itself as a major economic power, or a major power of any kind, you have to cater to these people."

However, Madhavan Nair, the chairman of Isro, said that India's space programme was tackling these problems too.

He said Isro's drinking water project had been able to increase usage of available water to 90%, up from 30%.

"That is the direct impact... it goes down to the common man," he said.

And he also stressed there were benefits to education.

"40% of our population are illiterate. We have used satellite media to bring an education programme to villages scattered all over the country," he explained.

"That provides additional quality of life to them, and also communicates them better skills for cultivation."

accepted, that it has brought benefits, like as you have said, the more secure news for fishermen. BUT, there aren't 7000 people dying everyday fishing, so the crux of the situation is that the benefits of the space program is marginal compared to the daily death rate for wont of food.

There is absolutely no religious or rational explanation in your post either.

Your answer can be summed up to "It's superstitious because it's superstitious"

Various belief systems have rationality based on those beliefs. One has to look into the subtleties of the beliefs and how they work to understand the rationality behind the conclusions being drawn. By stampeding on the truth like an elephant the truth cannot be obtained.

knowledge + humility (subtlety) --leads to--> truth (understanding)

To clarify I am not saying there were right to do what they did. But what I am saying is that I understand the rationality behind why the wise council did that. You don't have to agree with someone in order to understand them.

Yeah it could mean spiritual knowledge if you were applying it to achieve mukti.

There's more to that than just humility and knowledge but humility is important especially towards people whose flaws are apparent to you or those that hurt you. And the more flaws you see, the more they hurt you, the harder it becomes to maintain humility. Guru Amardas ji is a pooran guru because he could maintain humility even after being kicked by Datu a rival guru.
