Please discuss ----------- Sat Sri Akal Ji I want some opinions on this issue as I myself cannot say anything regarding mariyada without consulting or discussing it. I feel that Langar in Gurudwara sahib should be simple food like daal sabzi ,fulka, rice, salad or it can be a sweetdish sometimes.AS we know that in Gurudwara sahib we learn how to be contented with simplicity. We learn that we should not be taken in by the taste of tongue as we will never be able to satisfy it. "Eh rasna too anras raach rahi teri peyas na jaye"' as written in Anand sahib path. IF we read the whole path we know that it is only amrit of naam that can Quench our thirst or hunger not the different kinds of food that we eat for taste.Langar mariyada teaches us eating together at one place as a family.Eating simple that will reflect that we are not taken in by taste we don,t go after our tongue.WE are satisfied and happy with our simplicity. BUT what I have seen gurudwara sahib in California. I will not name it as I don't want to condem anybody here. I saw that Gol gappas, chaat, pakorras,etc. were served and people who were serving, some of them were standing with shoes on. I heard one guy telling his friend that langar is more good and has more variety in some other gurudwara sahib he named. I talked to him that we don,t eat langar for taste or variety but as parshaad . even if we get only dry chappatis and we eat it with love they will be more tasty than anyother thing in this world. I want to know here that is it O.K. if such spicy and chatpati things are served in langar. I don't feel it right I and my Husband never eat such things even if they are served. we go for daalroti only. I wan't opinions of as many as I can caz I will talk to the managing commity then about this thing according to the results of this discussion. U dont' like it u dont' eat it. we should not be thinking about what we are getting to eat there. just eat and leave.
