There should be reconciliation efforts by both groups in punjab to help bridge relations again between hindus and sikhs in punjab.

But that's only possible when BJP (national party of hindus) table a bill in parliament to bring justice and closure to 1984 riot victims and same goes for aam admi party.

It's hard for sikh community/other minorities to trust either bjp or congress after what happened. Trust is gained, so those who really wants hindu sikh unity, please provide this gesture.

I agree. Although I don't have much expectations from BJP. They were in power in the late 90s and didn't do squat for bringing justice. If anything they actually showed their true colours when they banned a book by Sardar Gurcharan Singh Babbar on the topic of 84 riots.

AAP seems like a good party which can bring justice. Sikhs should support them.

It's a must read.

Although the book was about the congress party's involvement in the Sikh genocide but it's strange how it was the BJP which banned the book. Just comes to show us that on the matter of the Sikhs, but congressi and BJP hindus are the same.

As someone who regularly visits India Punjab I am happy to say there is complete peace between 99% of HINDU punjabis and sikhs and no one really talks about 1984, and of they do they realise it was a political war , where both the congress and bhindrawala and his men shoulder responsibility!

Intermarriages, festivals, visiting of each others MANDIRS gurdwaras happen all the time.

The question of reconciliation between sikhs and Hindus really doesn't arise in India or the uk

If I remember correctly Bal Thakery was granted great prominence in Maharasthra, by prominent Hindu dignitaries, for a Shiv Sena lead crusade against Biharis. Didn't he state, 'go back to Bihar. We do not want you here.'What more can we expect from a nation where such crypto-fascists are granted free reign on a major political platform? And N30 this doesn't begin or end with Sikhs. Haha how funny coming from you. It seems you have never been to punjab. The Bhayas that come to the villages are only seasonal workers. They leave after their work is done. It is the cities where they want to settle and who dominates the cities? that's right, its the punjabi hindus. The Punjabi hindus treat these poor Bhayas like slaves. It is very common to see their women folk being assaulted by Punjabi Hindu.

The statistic of female infanticide is just as bad if not worse amongst the Punjabi Hindus. At least Sikhs have 2-3 kids average compared to the Hindus who only have 1 kid per family lol. As a result of this low birth rate of Punjabi Hindus, they only want a boy.

Just last year I went to India and had a conversation with a Punjabi hindu. He was complaining to be how if something is not done about Bhayas migrating to the cities of Punjab, soon they(Punjabi Hindus) will become minority in the cities too.

India is a failure. Inflation out of control, falling car sales, declining living standards, low investor confidence etc.

I don't think things between both groups can ever be perfect due to the right wing hindu groups who want to eliminate sikhi and any other non hindu group from Punjab and establish punjab back into madradesh the land of shiv, ram, krishna as it's history talks about it before they feel it was contaminated by abrahamic thought.
Then we have Sikhs who want a pure Sikh home land, khalsa raj and khalistan. But luckily for both groups we aren't all 100% right wing we do have moderate, tolerant elements who can build bridges and work on a better future collectively.
