  1. Neither the Blue bana or the dastaar is unique to sikhs, Blue is the color by muslims, which is why when Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj went undercover and dressed up like that peer he was wearing blue. Also in Asa Di Var it states that Guru Nanak Dev Ji wore blue clothes before going towards mecca. (The Naamdharis have a different version where Guru Nanak ripped the blue clothes and went towards mecca). The armies of Durga (Chandi, Mata.. ) are also stated to have been clad in blue, Shiv Ji is all blue etc. So the blue was nothing new. THe dastar we know was worn by many different people sikhs and non sikhs, it was the sign of a king and honor, not the sign of a sikh. So I guess we dont really have a UNIQUE SIKH IDENTITY.
  2. lol well toof is a good word to use. !! Just coz u americans or whatever u are dont understand it.. Toof is TOOOF.. The word comes from the word Doop or toop used in arti for INCENCE STICK THINGIES... so no agarbati.. its TOOF..
  3. 3rd gender and no gender are two different concepts, No gender means it has no form neither male, female, or the others. The name third gender does not mean third in line or third from top, it just refers to another gender, in some cases there has been mention of forth genders etc, These terms refer to those people who are of neither male or female catagories. Those born with both sex organs or neither. Men who have more feminine characteristics which counter the masculinity of a man, and females who have more masculinity which counters the femininity of the woman. Then would this imply the khalsa is only ristricted to men? I would say no, as I feel it is not even restricted to sikhi, The eastern worlds excepted not only men and women but third genders those who were neither all as a valid part of society. In the perfect world of the west which only understands Black and White, Good and Bad, one or the other a third gender was unacceptable being neither one or the other.
  4. well its self recorded.. just gonna take some time to get it all over here. so 2 months is good.
  5. lol thats the problem i get incense.. !!! thats the word
  6. I am trying to get hold of a full akhand paath of Sri Dasam And Sarbloh Granth, I will be able to rip it to mp3 but got no idea on how to stick it on the net.
  7. lol say that to an aghori !! Not only that there are alot of rituals (no disrespect intended just not sure how to word it) within sikhism which revolve around the use of spirits. One being numerology, which is present in Sri Aad Granth Maharaj (not sure about Dasam or Sarbloh maharaj yet) Shaheeds - and the creating of shaheedi degh Asaans - (Seats on which Saints sit while doing bhagtee and being saintly) Lighting of Joht, Use of Toof and/or fragrances, Devi devtas and rakash all reside in that other dimension and they play a great effect on your day to day activity. And also its aparent that you should pay some regards as they are a life form too (they just dont have a body and a physical representation yet) and they can be offended and pleased, as in the case of the suleman situation, its as easy as urinating on the wrong tree which could lead to posession.
  8. Just to clarify when I said Sikhism im refering to what we have today, Akaal Takht run by a committee, being the centre of Sikhism.
  9. This may offend a few but I will say it: The official name of Punjab is "PUNJAB" not Khalistan !! well actually I think the official name was something else, but you can see where I was going with that.. Sikhism is not a form of hinduism, as there is no such thing as hinduism, but then again I would go as far as saying there is no such thing as SIKHISM. A Guru and his disciple is an intimate relationship which can only be understood between that disciple and his/her guru. A religion in the western sense which is now the de facto for all beliefs systems is to catagorize the beliefs into, goods bads rights wrongs.. etc
  10. sorry neo.. lalleshvari your comment just confuses things further. Taksal has a parampara/lineage back to Baba Deep Singh Shaheed.
  11. I was looking at the pictures of sikhs provided by Neo http://www.sikhawareness.com/sikhawareness...opic.php?t=3261 and noticed that there was pictures of different Sampardava, but no picture of Taksal as a jatha or sampardya. So I looked into it further and noticed, that there is no mention what so ever of taksal as a jatha or sampardaya. It mentions all others Nihangs, Udhasis, Nirmalas, Naamdharis Adhan Shahis (sevapanthis) but no Taksaal.. Now this raises 2 questions.. Why isn't taksaal mentioned in History even though it is a corner stone of the sikh panth. ? How authentic is the Mahaan Kosh.?
  12. It looks alot like shastars worn in the damalla, and held in the position you mentioned (curved forward) and used in punching is exactly how you would use damalla shastars.
  13. Sikhism is a paradox, its a child of hinduism and islam, yet the parent of all beliefs.. Its the original yet the youngest (second to the bahai faith)..Then again that how I see it.
  14. I have my own island.. ?? why didnt anyone tell me.. is it all part of the sikhawareness membership thing? Cool.. Nah you can get those cones at any hippy store which sells toof.. or at the mandir, For some reason gurdvaras dont seem to sell much toof..
  15. "Its not the size of the pag which matters.. " "Its how you use it.... " I use mine to keep my ears warm..
  16. I like the caste thing,.. not as a system of hiarachy where one is better then the other but just as a means to label oneself and then break those boundaries..
  17. Herbal essence is defianatly my fav. too. But nothing and I mean nothing beats using yoghurt, natural yoghurt not the muller crunch corner crap.. But use natural yoghurt with a little hunny in it, and that just works wonder, then wash it out and apply shampoo else you get a weird smell and cheese growing out of your dastar. Yoghurt and hunny is also good to use on the face and too eat at least once a day, Trust me nothing beats yoghurt.. And then after its washed while still wet apply AMLA oil (gooseberry) green one with that lady on it. It makes your hair smell nice (i like it) and keeps it healthy and black. If you wish to add a little aromatherapy, you can light a toof (the incence cone shaped ones in a holder) and just hold your hair over the holder and the smell is held in your hair, it also looks incredible when you see the smoke thingy move around your hair.. Looks wow.. But every time you come your hair after that, lets out a nice smell of whichever toof cone you used. Try it out some time..
