Good point, especially when it comes to physical aspects of Rehat. We might need to adapt, whenever needed for the Panth.
One possible example. Don't the fire fighters (especially the forest ones) have to be clean shaven in order for their masks to properly stick to their faces? If that is true, basically, it will be the Sehajdhari Sikhs who will end up doing these kinds of jobs (or sewa) for the Panth.

Yeah. I think there were a mixture of reasons, like the conspicuous, 'alien' turban/kesh, the vast majority of sullay men dressed fully westernised back then. Some Sikhs pulling out shastars on them. Might also be that some Sikhs fought against their idol/inspiration Hitler? 

I don't know if people should follow certain aspects of puratan rahit like a kuttar panthi on minor things. I think how our shastars should be carried is no biggy, if you're carrying them in the first place.  
 
Also, if we follow them literally, for instance the oldest one says we can't touch steel with our feet, but how does that hold when we have to walk across modern bridges with steel in them (for instance)?

The names i.e. EDL, BNP, Britain First, Combat 18, National Front are irrelevant. They are basically tentacles of the same beast. If things didn't happen, it may well have been effected by people actually resisting in various ways. 
This white supremacist thing has been around for a long while. All it is waiting for is the opportunity to to establish and normalise itself again. It's never gone away, just underground.
With the serious potential of economic and ecological turmoil that exists today, as well as the obvious existential threat many whites feels along racial lines, it is fertile ground for such impulses.
