  1. Yes will watch out for arguments but in general how can we make sikhawareness more about learning and less about arguing place. Please feel free to leave feedback in the feedback section. Can you invite more gyanis you may know from india or jawadi kala taksal here.
  2. Does it that matter when it comes to philanthropy? Sure he is sikh from universal sense- he is learner(sikh-shisya-student) but from strict dharamic sense he is follower dehdhari radhaswami Guru so he is not..anyway enjoy the great story...look at the essence i don't wrap my head around on these semantics details. He is donating his money for seva..thats good enough for me/good human for me and yes good sikh from universal sense for me.
  3. Here is the sikh version of this story- Singh who gave up his billionaire business http://profit.ndtv.com/news/corporates/article-billionaire-shivinder-singh-quits-fortis-opts-for-full-time-sewa-1220768
  4. Description given of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in "A Dictionary of Indian Literature: Beginnings-1850" Very interesting peace of tidbit talks about works of sri guru gobind singh ji: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sujit_Mukherjee
  5. Yes i agree such precedence should not be set otherwise we will not have maryada in next 10-15 years if such things keep going on so maryada has to be maintained carefully. I have mentioned this before on this case, it be beneficial for couple if they would have made extra efforts to abide in the teaching of anand karaj rather than wrapping their head around semantics of outer traditions. All though exceptions are made in case by case cases when it comes to outer external modification of anand karaj lavan ceremony. For example- Bibi Surinder Kaur taking laavan with photo of Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh
  6. Never heard of it..please cite the source of this so that I can look into it further.
  7. I believe this is great vantage point for us. Instead of shunning text or rejecting the text in parnioa/fear/insecurity we can use that as our advantage to convert more hindus into sikhs as most hindus became sikhs than muslims due to similarities of indic spiritual framework theology of eastern dharams.
  8. This is confirmed in japji sahib teeka by sant gyani gurbachan singh bhindranwale and gyani thakur singh ji japji sahib katha: source: pdf page -44-45 japji sahib teeka by sant gyani gurbachan singh ji bhindranwale:
  9. Resounding yes, this going on for too long..This topic is locked but please feel free to message us to re-open it if you have anything ground breaking/significant/scriptural evidence to add both for or against.
  10. Good to hear from you back, you can dress modestly, you are not required to bring anything, just follow normal protocols such as remove your shoes, cover your hair, pay respect to our living guru be it in form of small humble bow or full fledge bowing down, sit in the main hall on floor like everyone else as equality gesture and after the wedding, enjoy our free meal at the langar hall which is provided to all despite of religion, race, color, beleifs.
  11. 1. Yes initially for following reasons a) this tradition was started to avoid infiltration from mugals - positioning food of khalsa b)as a beginner to meditation/naam simran after amrit it help avoiding negative vibration of food made by non amritdharis. As one progresses spiritually where one gets to stage where one is naturally spontaneously automatically drawn towards shabad/knowledge of shabad-naam, perception of non dual lord in all, all in one, one in all. This rule one can easily transcendent it with shabad abidance from akaal ustat: Sab karam fookat jan sab dharam naihfal man || Bin ek naam aadhar sab karam barhm bichar 2. Traditionally, all though encouraged its depends on circumstances so its not a rule written on a stone, please see below more info, http://kam1825.podbean.com/e/can-someone-take-amrit-without-their-partner/ 3. It usually something to do with food.
  12. I am not suggesting that I am saying you want to apply argument against this for eggs/meat yet milk you are ok with it you are just accepting milk to uphold just because saint did so...either accept all or deny milk as well..sorry you cannot have both ways with your logic.
  13. I think drinking milk back in Guru's were different than drinking milk now due to deplorable conditions animals go through now. This is clear distincation..we should not confuse the two.
  14. Here is the video of baba nihal singh ji explaining four kurahits including kutha mass (meat in a hallal way) https://www.facebook.com/652447751445011/videos/952023628154087/
  15. Here is very small limited human attempt to start meaning of Gurbani spiritual/adhyatam terms..As always gurbani terms due to its both nirgun-absolute and relative - sargun nature would have multiple meanings to fit various seekers/various spiritual aspritants at various different stages/aspects of divine . 16. I have theory which possibly may be true I think it massive pyshological (slave mentality) impact of 200 plus years of Anglo Saxon white colonialism in India.
  17. Forget all the labels, light pervading all is the ONE :p...great topic btw.
  18. Just following up, hows that katha pursuing career going veer? I heard few years ago taksal was planning to open up schools of gurmat in english in india so some of the stuff can be translated and both singhs from west and east can train each other. Really torch is in hands of sikh youths of today, there are plentiful of old textbooks which talks about deep layers of gurmat, time to bring out those. Unfortunately, there is less interest to study the vidya/apply it than is it learn basic stuff from gurmat to build rapport and be a katha vachik- get the foot in the door. You need lore more patience, contenment to become a kathavachik under guidance of mahapursh all the time. I like how many solo parcharikhs just talk about outer stuff, skip through real essence of gurmat all together...how bloody convenient..do they really think sangat is that dense?
  19. Opps forgot to cite source of above attachments, its from ishvar amalok lal by sant isher singh ji rara sahib
