The union of a Sikh with his Guru and becoming one with him is like a faithful wife who discards the desire of others and lives in the refuge of one husband. 
 
ਪੂਛਤਨਜੋਤਕਅਉਬੇਦਥਿਤਿਵਾਰਕਛੁ॥ਗ੍ਰਿਹਅਉਨਖਤ੍ਰਕੀਨਸੰਕਾਉਰਧਾਰੀਹੈ॥

The Sikh who places his faith in the refuge of one True Guru, does not depend upon astrology or the command of Vedas, nor does he bring any doubt about the auspiciousness of a day/date or constellation of stars/planets to his mind.

The father Guru protects and brings up the specially virtuous children. Such Sikhs are freed of all rites and rituals by the Guru during their life-time, and instills the ideology and thoughts of one Lord in their mind. (448)

I have searched in the four directions, but no one is mine.
 
ਜੇਤੁਧੁਭਾਵੈਸਾਹਿਬਾਤੂਮੈਹਉਤੈਡਾ॥੧॥
je tudh bhaavai saahibaa too mai hau taiddaa ||1||
If it pleases You, O Lord Master, then You are mine, and I am Yours. ||1||
 
ਦਰੁਬੀਭਾਮੈਨੀਮਿ੍ਹਕੋਕੈਕਰੀਸਲਾਮੁ॥
dhar beebhaa mai neemi(h) ko kai karee salaam ||
There is no other door for me; where shall I go to worship?
 
ਹਿਕੋਮੈਡਾਤੂਧਣੀਸਾਚਾਮੁਖਿਨਾਮੁ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
hiko maiddaa too dhanee saachaa mukh naam ||1|| rahaau ||
You are my only Lord; Your True Name is in my mouth. ||1||Pause||
 
ਸਿਧਾਸੇਵਨਿਸਿਧਪੀਰਮਾਗਹਿਰਿਧਿਸਿਧਿ॥
sidhaa sevan sidh peer maageh ridh sidh ||
Some serve the Siddhas, the beings of spiritual perfection, and some serve spiritual teachers; they beg for wealth and miraculous powers.
 
ਮੈਇਕੁਨਾਮੁਨਵੀਸਰੈਸਾਚੇਗੁਰਬੁਧਿ॥੨॥
mai ik naam na veesarai saache gur budh ||2||
May I never forget the Naam, the Name of the One Lord. This is the wisdom of the True Guru. ||2||
 
ਜੋਗੀਭੋਗੀਕਾਪੜੀਕਿਆਭਵਹਿਦਿਸੰਤਰ॥
jogee bhogee kaapaRee kiaa bhaveh dhisa(n)tar ||
Why do the Yogis, the revellers, and the beggars wander in foreign lands?
 
ਗੁਰਕਾਸਬਦੁਨਚੀਨ੍ਹਹੀਤਤੁਸਾਰੁਨਿਰੰਤਰ॥੩॥
gur kaa sabadh na cheen(h)hee tat saar nira(n)tar ||3||
They do not understand the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and the essence of excellence within them. ||3||
 
ਪੰਡਿਤਪਾਧੇਜੋਇਸੀਨਿਤਪੜ੍ਹਹਿਪੁਰਾਣਾ॥
pa(n)ddit paadhe joisee nit paRheh puraanaa ||
The Pandits, the religious scholars, the teachers and astrologers, and those who endlessly read the Puraanas,
 
ਅੰਤਰਿਵਸਤੁਨਜਾਣਨ੍ਹੀਘਟਿਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਲੁਕਾਣਾ॥੪॥
a(n)tar vasat na jaanan(h)ee ghaT braham lukaanaa ||4||
do not know what is within; God is hidden deep within them. ||4||
 
ਇਕਿਤਪਸੀਬਨਮਹਿਤਪੁਕਰਹਿਨਿਤਤੀਰਥਵਾਸਾ॥
eik tapasee ban meh tap kareh nit teerath vaasaa ||
Some penitents perform penance in the forests, and some dwell forever at sacred shrines.
 
ਆਪੁਨਚੀਨਹਿਤਾਮਸੀਕਾਹੇਭਏਉਦਾਸਾ॥੫॥
aap na cheeneh taamasee kaahe bhe audhaasaa ||5||
The unenlightened people do not understand themselves - why have they become renunciates? ||5||
 
ਇਕਿਬਿੰਦੁਜਤਨਕਰਿਰਾਖਦੇਸੇਜਤੀਕਹਾਵਹਿ॥
eik bi(n)dh jatan kar raakhadhe se jatee kahaaveh ||
Some control their sexual energy, and are known as celibates.
 
ਬਿਨੁਗੁਰਸਬਦਨਛੂਟਹੀਭ੍ਰਮਿਆਵਹਿਜਾਵਹਿ॥੬॥
bin gur sabadh na chhooTahee bhram aaveh jaaveh ||6||
But without the Guru's Word, they are not saved, and they wander in reincarnation. ||6||
 
ਇਕਿਗਿਰਹੀਸੇਵਕਸਾਧਿਕਾਗੁਰਮਤੀਲਾਗੇ॥
eik girahee sevak saadhikaa guramatee laage ||
Some are householders, servants, and seekers, attached to the Guru's Teachings.
 
ਨਾਮੁਦਾਨੁਇਸਨਾਨੁਦ੍ਰਿੜੁਹਰਿਭਗਤਿਸੁਜਾਗੇ॥੭॥
naam dhaan isanaan dhiraR har bhagat su jaage ||7||
They hold fast to the Naam, to charity, to cleansing and purification; they remain awake in devotion to the Lord. ||7||
 
ਗੁਰਤੇਦਰੁਘਰੁਜਾਣੀਐਸੋਜਾਇਸਿਞਾਣੈ॥
gur te dhar ghar jaaneeaai so jai sin(j)aanai ||
Through the Guru, the Gate of the Lord's Home is found, and that place is recognized.
 
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮੁਨਵੀਸਰੈਸਾਚੇਮਨੁਮਾਨੈ॥੮॥੧੪॥
naanak naam na veesarai saache man maanai ||8||14||
Nanak does not forget the Naam; his mind has surrendered to the True Lord. ||8||14||

jeea praan sukhadhaatiaa nimakh nimakh balihaar jee ||1||
O Breath of Life of the soul, O Giver of peace, each and every instant I am a sacrifice to You. ||1||

Please, God, give me the Support of Your Hand; lift me up and pull me out of this pit, O Lord of the World.

I am worthless, with such a shallow intellect; You are always Merciful to the meek. ||2||

kiaa sukh tere sa(n)malaa kavan bidhee beechaar ||
What comforts of Yours can I dwell upon? How can I contemplate You?
 
ਸਰਣਿਸਮਾਈਦਾਸਹਿਤਊਚੇਅਗਮਅਪਾਰ॥੩॥
saran samaiee dhaas hit uooche agam apaar ||3||
You lovingly absorb Your slaves into Your Sanctuary, O Lofty, Inaccessible and Infinite Lord. ||3||
 
ਸਗਲਪਦਾਰਥਅਸਟਸਿਧਿਨਾਮਮਹਾਰਸਮਾਹਿ॥
sagal padhaarath asaT sidh naam mahaa ras maeh ||
All wealth, and the eight miraculous spiritual powers are in the supremely sublime essence of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
 
ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਭਏਕੇਸਵਾਸੇਜਨਹਰਿਗੁਣਗਾਹਿ॥੪॥
suprasa(n)n bhe kesavaa se jan har gun gaeh ||4||
Those humble beings, with whom the beautifully-haired Lord is thoroughly pleased, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||
 
ਮਾਤਪਿਤਾਸੁਤਬੰਧਪੋਤੂੰਮੇਰੇਪ੍ਰਾਣਅਧਾਰ॥
maat pitaa sut ba(n)dhapo too(n) mere praan adhaar ||
You are my mother, father, son and relative; You are the Support of the breath of life.

Meeting the True Guru, I am totally transformed; I have obtained the nine treasures to use and consume.

The Siddhis-the eighteen supernatural spiritual powers-follow in my footsteps; I dwell in my own home, within my own self.
 
ਅਨਹਦਧੁਨੀਸਦਵਜਦੇਉਨਮਨਿਹਰਿਲਿਵਲਾਇ॥
anahadh dhunee sadh vajadhe aunaman har liv lai ||
The Unstruck Melody constantly vibrates within; my mind is exalted and uplifted-I am lovingly absorbed in the Lord.
 
ਨਾਨਕਹਰਿਭਗਤਿਤਿਨਾਕੈਮਨਿਵਸੈਜਿਨਮਸਤਕਿਲਿਖਿਆਧੁਰਿਪਾਇ॥੨॥
naanak har bhagat tinaa kai man vasai jin masatak likhiaa dhur pai ||2||
O Nanak, devotion to the Lord abides within the minds of those who have such pre-ordained destiny written on their foreheads. ||2||

People wear all sorts of costumes and wander all around, but in their hearts and minds, they practice deception.
 
ਹਰਿਕਾਮਹਲੁਨਪਾਵਈਮਰਿਵਿਸਟਾਮਾਹਿਸਮਾਇ॥੧॥
har kaa mahal na paaviee mar visaTaa maeh samai ||1||
They do not attain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, and after death, they sink into manure. ||1||
 
ਮਨਰੇਗ੍ਰਿਹਹੀਮਾਹਿਉਦਾਸੁ॥
man re gireh hee maeh audhaas ||
O mind, remain detached in the midst of your household.
 
ਸਚੁਸੰਜਮੁਕਰਣੀਸੋਕਰੇਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਹੋਇਪਰਗਾਸੁ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
sach sa(n)jam karanee so kare guramukh hoi paragaas ||1|| rahaau ||
Practicing truth, self-discipline and good deeds, the Gurmukh is enlightened. ||1||Pause||
 
ਗੁਰਕੈਸਬਦਿਮਨੁਜੀਤਿਆਗਤਿਮੁਕਤਿਘਰੈਮਹਿਪਾਇ॥
gur kai sabadh man jeetiaa gat mukat gharai meh pai ||
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the mind is conquered, and one attains the State of Liberation in one's own home.
 
ਹਰਿਕਾਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਈਐਸਤਸੰਗਤਿਮੇਲਿਮਿਲਾਇ॥੨॥
har kaa naam dhiaaieeaai satasa(n)gat mel milai ||2||
So meditate on the Name of the Lord; join and merge with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. ||2||
 
ਜੇਲਖਇਸਤਰੀਆਭੋਗਕਰਹਿਨਵਖੰਡਰਾਜੁਕਮਾਹਿ॥
je lakh isatareeaa bhog kareh nav kha(n)dd raaj kamaeh ||
You may enjoy the pleasures of hundreds of thousands of women, and rule the nine continents of the world.
 
ਬਿਨੁਸਤਿਗੁਰਸੁਖੁਨਪਾਵਈਫਿਰਿਫਿਰਿਜੋਨੀਪਾਹਿ॥੩॥
bin satigur sukh na paaviee fir fir jonee paeh ||3||
But without the True Guru, you will not find peace; you will be reincarnated over and over again. ||3||
 
ਹਰਿਹਾਰੁਕੰਠਿਜਿਨੀਪਹਿਰਿਆਗੁਰਚਰਣੀਚਿਤੁਲਾਇ॥
har haar ka(n)tt jinee pahiriaa gur charanee chit lai ||
Those who wear the Necklace of the Lord around their necks, and focus their consciousness on the Guru's Feet
 
ਤਿਨਾਪਿਛੈਰਿਧਿਸਿਧਿਫਿਰੈਓਨਾਤਿਲੁਨਤਮਾਇ॥੪॥
tinaa pichhai ridh sidh firai onaa til na tamai ||4||
-wealth and supernatural spiritual powers follow them, but they do not care for such things at all. ||4||
 
ਜੋਪ੍ਰਭਭਾਵੈਸੋਥੀਐਅਵਰੁਨਕਰਣਾਜਾਇ॥
jo prabh bhaavai so theeaai avar na karanaa jai ||
Whatever pleases God's Will comes to pass. Nothing else can be done.
 
ਜਨੁਨਾਨਕੁਜੀਵੈਨਾਮੁਲੈਹਰਿਦੇਵਹੁਸਹਜਿਸੁਭਾਇ॥੫॥੨॥੩੫॥
jan naanak jeevai naam lai har dhevahu sahaj subhai ||5||2||35||
Servant Nanak lives by chanting the Naam. O Lord, please give it to me, in Your Natural Way. ||5||2||35||

ku(n)goo kee kaa(n)iaa ratanaa kee lalitaa agar vaas tan saas ||
With the body of saffron, and the tongue a jewel, and the breath of the body pure fragrant incense;
 
ਅਠਸਠਿਤੀਰਥਕਾਮੁਖਿਟਿਕਾਤਿਤੁਘਟਿਮਤਿਵਿਗਾਸੁ॥
attasatt teerath kaa mukh Tikaa tit ghaT mat vigaas ||
with the face anointed at the sixty-eight holy places of pilgrimage, and the heart illuminated with wisdom
 
ਓਤੁਮਤੀਸਾਲਾਹਣਾਸਚੁਨਾਮੁਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ॥੧॥
ot matee saalaahanaa sach naam gunataas ||1||
-with that wisdom, chant the Praises of the True Name, the Treasure of Excellence. ||1||
 
ਬਾਬਾਹੋਰਮਤਿਹੋਰਹੋਰ॥
baabaa hor mat hor hor ||
O Baba, other wisdom is useless and irrelevant.
 
ਜੇਸਉਵੇਰਕਮਾਈਐਕੂੜੈਕੂੜਾਜੋਰੁ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
je sau ver kamaieeaai kooRai kooRaa jor ||1|| rahaau ||
If falsehood is practiced a hundred times, it is still false in its effects. ||1||Pause||
 
ਪੂਜਲਗੈਪੀਰੁਆਖੀਐਸਭੁਮਿਲੈਸੰਸਾਰੁ॥
pooj lagai peer aakheeaai sabh milai sa(n)saar ||
You may be worshipped and adored as a Pir (a spiritual teacher); you may be welcomed by all the world;
 
ਨਾਉਸਦਾਏਆਪਣਾਹੋਵੈਸਿਧੁਸੁਮਾਰੁ॥
naau sadhaae aapanaa hovai sidh sumaar ||
you may adopt a lofty name, and be known to have supernatural spiritual powers
 
ਜਾਪਤਿਲੇਖੈਨਾਪਵੈਸਭਾਪੂਜਖੁਆਰੁ॥੨॥
jaa pat lekhai naa pavai sabhaa pooj khuaar ||2||
-even so, if you are not accepted in the Court of the Lord, then all this adoration is false. ||2||
 
ਜਿਨਕਉਸਤਿਗੁਰਿਥਾਪਿਆਤਿਨਮੇਟਿਨਸਕੈਕੋਇ॥
jin kau satigur thaapiaa tin meT na sakai koi ||
No one can overthrow those who have been established by the True Guru.
 
ਓਨਾਅੰਦਰਿਨਾਮੁਨਿਧਾਨੁਹੈਨਾਮੋਪਰਗਟੁਹੋਇ॥
onaa a(n)dhar naam nidhaan hai naamo paragaT hoi ||
The Treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is within them, and through the Naam, they are radiant and famous.
 
ਨਾਉਪੂਜੀਐਨਾਉਮੰਨੀਐਅਖੰਡੁਸਦਾਸਚੁਸੋਇ॥੩॥
naau poojeeaai naau ma(n)neeaai akha(n)dd sadhaa sach soi ||3||
They worship the Naam, and they believe in the Naam. The True One is forever Intact and Unbroken. ||3||
 
ਖੇਹੂਖੇਹਰਲਾਈਐਤਾਜੀਉਕੇਹਾਹੋਇ॥
khehoo kheh ralaieeaai taa jeeau kehaa hoi ||
When the body mingles with dust, what happens to the soul?
 
ਜਲੀਆਸਭਿਸਿਆਣਪਾਉਠੀਚਲਿਆਰੋਇ॥
jaleeaa sabh siaanapaa auttee chaliaa roi ||
All clever tricks are burnt away, and you shall depart crying.
 
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮਿਵਿਸਾਰਿਐਦਰਿਗਇਆਕਿਆਹੋਇ॥੪॥੮॥
naanak naam visaariaai dhar giaa kiaa hoi ||4||8||
O Nanak, those who forget the Naam-what will happen when they go to the Court of the Lord? ||4||8||

kevadd vaddaa ddeettaa hoi ||
But just how Great His Greatness is-this is known only to those who have seen Him.
 
ਕੀਮਤਿਪਾਇਨਕਹਿਆਜਾਇ॥
keemat pai na kahiaa jai ||

sabh sat sabh tap sabh cha(n)giaaieeaa ||
All Truth, all austere discipline, all goodness,
 
ਸਿਧਾਪੁਰਖਾਕੀਆਵਡਿਆਈਆ॥
sidhaa purakhaa keeaa vaddiaaieeaa ||
all the great miraculous spiritual powers of the Siddhas
 
ਤੁਧੁਵਿਣੁਸਿਧੀਕਿਨੈਨਪਾਈਆ॥
tudh vin sidhee kinai na paieeaa ||
without You, no one has attained such powers.
 
ਕਰਮਿਮਿਲੈਨਾਹੀਠਾਕਿਰਹਾਈਆ॥੩॥
karam milai naahee ttaak rahaieeaa ||3||
They are received only by Your Grace. No one can block them or stop their flow. ||3||

What can the poor helpless creatures do?

No brother. I mean Gurbani speaks of these things as not being of interest but delivered through Naam anyway. 
Usually in Gurbani any time these things are mentioned the surrounding context is usually that it's of no interest to the Guru or Sikh or that it's delivered through Naam or when one does not want that Maya or Power only Vaheguru and then the power serves the Guru's Sikh.
