Thank you Bhenji. I am always late night owl instead of waking in the morning and doing my studies. Now, I find it easier to do simran in night after finishing everything.
I would like to do as much as possible simran now , without wasting my life further and looking for gursikh people company too. My mind is going off other things like facebook, moovies etc and am enjoying spiritual side of life.
You are welcome.. lemme know if I could be of any help . Cause we have senior abhiyaasi members here on the forum- you can read their posts to get the necessary boost and knowledge and ask them things personally too
Sat veerji, lucky veerji, Bhagat Singh ji, his servant, Tva prasad veerji are major jewels ( pls forgive me if I have forgotten anyone) who can answer your questions then Sajjan thug ji, raganorak, neo and deniro are those quiet ones but ofcourse at Gupt higher levels. .. Dalsingh and chatanga veerji are different level scholars
And me, still nascent ji, jaikara veerji, jageera ji, soulfinder veerji, , sukhpreet, mahanpapi ji, harsharan ji, kaju etc are all walking on these paths on our own journeys at followers level- seeking struggling, searching- holding hands of each other and arguing at times. ((Pls forgive me but that's my personal account of this forum))
Welcome to this world of sangat

Valuable tips.
Doing Simran and feeling tired is a good thing. There is a very fine line between drifting into sleep/dreamless sleep and sunn. With practice, you will be able to recognize the difference.
On 2/27/2019 at 12:06 AM, Lucky said:@moorakh, I totally second what Sat1176 has explained above. Whether you should think of sleep as a hindrance or not, is difficult to justify.
According to my own experience, I reckon that some of us may assume we are falling asleep, but in fact, we are rising into deeper states. I'm no expert on sleep, but i can give a few pointers for you to look into....
- If you drift off into dream state, then this is mostly Maya. I'm referring to doing simran whilst sat up with back straight. Doing simran whilst lying down is something I could discuss in the future. For yourself, at this stage, i would pay attention to what happens exactly when you think you're falling asleep?
1) You're head may droop forward, but if you're back and posture is giving way, then a) you are probably going into dream state-maya or b) you're prana flow isn't strong enough.
OR
2) if you are drifting and can maybe hear things in background, and not losing your asan, AND gurmantar is still going, ..then you are most likely going towards the dreamless void(eventually). From what I remember, this stage was rather confusing because i was never sure if i were asleep or in deeper consciousness. IMO, i'd say to continue going deeper into your simran if you are encountering this. Just keep checking that your gurmantar was still going. The tricky part is that you'll only be able to confirm this once you are back and fully awake (disassociated).
This was the approach that i was using at the time, even though I wasn't sure, but It helped in progressing further. I hope that gives you better understanding. Really, you don't wanna overthink it too much either but just keep focus on gurmantar. If sleep comes, and you really feel inclined to get under the duvet, then do so. Otherwise, just continue and assess after the session. Before hearing naam, you're mind will go through a number of intermediary stages. It's all about 'cleansing' the mann.
In time, you will learn that there is much more to sleep and how a gurmukh remains jagath 'an-din' (day-night). I'm not going to say too much on those topics or how it's possible, because it will probably be confusing.
On 2/27/2019 at 3:48 PM, Sat1176 said:Some can enter this stage directly, but some like me fall asleep and then enter this state. It is spontaneous and only happens with Waheguru's grace. You can't force it and it will happen when you least expect it. Mind in it's chatter must become small as a tiny piece of a mustard seed so it fits through a tiny hole so to speak to enter higher states. When this happens the mind awakens itself on the other side known as becoming "jagrath". Those steps I shared with you in the above post are a way to try and induce that state at night. Your body goes to sleep but mind tries to awaken, so you can spend the night in the higher states and doing bhagti whilst the body gets rest. Some will question and be sceptical of this form of night time bhagti, as it is not how it is normally preache
Now after about an year I am able to understand what you both meant here. I thank you again !-that could only be have understood once one experience it. we have always perceived sunn as sleep but body sleeping and mind being awake, now I understood what you meant.
Also for someone who may be facing sleep during meditation don't worry! it's a part of the game. It overall rises your concious. Sleep strengthens our grounds to let waheguru ji come and reside on our hirda.its a slow process

These days I just do enough Gurmantar until any Anhad sound manifest in the head/ears then I try switch to listening to these and ease off the Gurmantar until my thoughts begin to come to the forefront. Then I slowly bring back Gurmantar whilst keeping Dhyan on anhad sounds.
Benji this is not a sprint, it's a marathon. Do what you can when you can and don't beat yourself up. Build up slowly. Just keep persevering even if it's few minute bursts.
I don't have specific routines which is not what you want to hear. You need to find what is working for you, whether that is in the morning, evening or night.
Let's say I'm doing chores (cooking, vacuuming or ironing) at home. Keep reciting Gurmantar and keep your focus on the sound of jaap don't let your surti run away on other thoughts. Do this in parallel to doing your work. That's what I do. Why waste time thinking nonsense. Keep Dhyan on Gurmantar.
If your day job requires mental effort then obviously you can't do both. Then I just use my time when I travel to work or some free time during lunch break. Go for a walk or find some where to sit and jap.
Hmm... Such an honest answer...
But @Kaur1510
as u r new to Simran this may not work for you. We really have to work aLot - massakat to control our thoughts initially, till our body learns to enter 'sunn', and doing Simran while at work is something that even I can't do yet. Yeah listening to kirtan, japp videos/ audios or just doing chupai Sahib or Japji Sahib while in the kitchen is easy.
As a student, when I was in 6 or 7 grade my mom used to wake me up early to study but all I did was dozing off. In later years I realised that it's more convenient for me to sit at night and study after everone retires to bed, the same works for me still. The sehaj dhun becomes more pargat once it's late and the world around becomes quiet, though everyone talks about Amritvela - I do try to wake up then -alarms etc but honestly I don't know what happens after 10-15 minutes of Simran in Amritvela. I find myself in my rajai all wrapped up a few hours later.
So it's basically your personal thing- Amritvela is when your mind relaxes and get absorbed in the Mighty Lord! Then Amrit literally drips on Rasna ... That will take time ofcourse as that happens once all your 'paap' gets burnt off'. Be positive! Take the initiative - move that first step and feel

Even after being a woman, I don't mind being called a weaker sex, rather I accept that YES woman are weak, We are not that strong physically and don't find it an issue to repress my ego either.
I am happy being a woman, because being a woman makes it easy for me to Surrender, to be kind and subtle. To accept myself as a 'suhagan' of my 'kant' - Parmeshwar.
If we ponder upon the concepts of Gurbani, we notice that in our bani all human beings are considered as wives and Lord as husband so technically speaking SGGS ji is also a female Guru.
I am happy being 'weak' if the men around me treats me nicely, and respects me more.
You see - being a daughter I was more pampered than my brother, My brother took special care for my security when in crowd. My husband takes more responsibilities of the outside world than me, considering me tender and I love being the one who's more subtle, , more tender, I feel ' precious' to them. Big deal if I am not physically strong, I respect their manliness and accept them being 'superior 'in facing - the world' for me and giving me their 'shade. When I can easily relax and feel ' secure' in their presence.
I am not a 'house - sitting' ( homemaker though,), I work and am easily capable of earning my own living plus supporting my kids but I love the way my husband plans our finances and respect his intelligence on worldly matters.
I am proud that God has imparted me a capability of bearing children and bringing them in this world, I am more blessed. More patient, sensitive and caring.
Don't you " men " out there ❤loves your daughters more- so why wouldn't my Guru Sahib?? I am 100 percent sure HE DOES

@Mooorakhbhen ji any suggestions or tips for veer ji on here
SSA
Not really @Soulfinder veerji. I read his post a couple of days ago and knew I sail in the same boat but honestly I don't have any good solution for him. He's surely at a better position than me, being a man and Amritdhari .. so all I can say is that look veer there are people like me too who long for external Amrit, however aren't lucky enough to get it. So better be thankful than try to change your spouse!
As for me, I have all a worldly woman can ask for. A loving, caring husband ( who takes care of all my Materialistic needs plus cares for all kinds of physical needs too- it's just that he doesn't understand spirituality - he doesn't have that hunger, so he can't relate) who provides for me. Two Lovely kids, non interfering in-laws, very caring parents, siblings.. I mean its just a perfect life otherwise.. tit bits here n there of course are handled and are necessary too.. it wasn't this perfect few years ago.. Dukh became Daaru and I thus became my Guru Sahib's child. I am progressing substantially. My waheguru is on my side! What else I can ask for..
I have accepted my husband's way of living as waheguru ji's hukam and love him that way! As for my bhukh -" I am sure Jin upaayi medni Seyi de adhaar".. aap rakhega! Aap karega! It's his job! I have stopped worrying.

Yeah! Think about all the elements of nature... .. Sunlight, water, fire, air do u find them partial- don't they treat everyone equally
Yet we get what we 'are destined to- as per our karmas'
No blame game is thus 'Gursikhi' - it's our -Karmas-, but we can always ask from 'him' , he has every thing in his hands still it's up to him to give or not. His will- he may give 10 or take 20 back. U will be blessed only if u accept- his will- unconditionally! That's LOVE.
And Jin Prem kiyo tin hi Prabhu Paayo. - keep loving n u may 'get him'

Japanese scientist Dr Emoto proves what our Gurus taught us years ago. Why do you think that there's a Amrit Sarovar all around Harmander Sahib?
Why do we keep water jugs near where we read Gurbani?
why is it called Amrit? How does normal water crystals convert to Amrit. It's the magic of Bani. ...they provided proofs haan?
Here it goes...
"The extraordinary life work of Dr. Emoto is documented in the New York Times Bestseller, The Hidden Messages in Water. In his book, Dr. Emoto demonstrates how water exposed to loving, benevolent, and compassionate human intention results in aesthetically pleasing physical molecular formations in the water while water exposed to fearful and discordant human intentions results in disconnected, disfigured, and “unpleasant” physical molecular formations. He did this through through Magnetic Resonance Analysis technology and high speed photographs.
His research also showed us how polluted and toxic water, when exposed to to prayer and intention can be altered and restored to beautifully formed geometric crystals found in clean, healthy water. The following photos are images of photographs of the the water in the Fujiwara Dam before and after...

Let me try ..
U understand 'Mool Mantar' veer?
Thas d base, right.? Mentioning the virtues of 'THE ALMIGHTY LORD' that He's one, sat ( true) is his Name. Akaal ( time less- ageless) and so on
Similarly this pankti mentions the three virtues of THE GURU
1. Agam : one who can't be reached. ( that is we can't reach him - if he wishes he can of course call / meet/ reach us)
2. Nirvair - infact the whole pauri talks about this one, that he treats everyone equally like a mirror does, without any anger or grudges against anyone.
3. Nirala- the one of his kind. Uss varga koi ni
Hope that makes it easy.
Cheers to him!

Hanji, I can understand. Sometimes I myself get confused if I was sleeping or meditating,, and that's just a machine. But the idea overall is that 'silence of mind' and that's the most difficult part of this game.
