  3. Thanks for the brilliant post. People often innocently or ignorantly refer to Guru Nanak as a messenger of God, a prophet etc, without considering the impliciti differences between say mohammad sahib as a profit and guru nanak dev ji as a guru. the theological implications and connotations of the word 'guru' are very unique.
  4. vah ji vah. That pammi bai picture, if im not mistaken is it not from the front cover of the album titled 'gidha malwieeaan da' ?

  9. Fateh all " Marx accused religious individuals of being idealistic and claimed his own theory was ground in scientific facts, yet his theory of the emancipation does not seem too far off from the concept of heaven or the promise of a ‘better place’ made by pioneers of mainstream religion. Just as Hobbes removed the concept of God and attempted to replace it with the all powerful Leviathan, Marx denounced heaven yet replaced it with is own ideas of the “promised land”. " - above is from an essay im currently doing. I believe Marx's theories provide a analytical tool for looking at the nature of comtemporary capitalism and not much else, His theory on the revolution and more so on communism seem a bit hopeful to say the least. Although i think his analysis from a materialistic perspective is accurate, his theory on the emergence of communism seems very idealistic, inaccurate and full of faults. Any discussion on this appreciated. thanks
  10. Fateh I agree wit amrit paji. I dont think ethnic cleansing during the partition can be considered as a battle, it was dark period in history. many people decided to become 'nihang singhs' during paritition so that they could freely carry weapons which allowed them to easily plunder. soon after partition the decided to stop becoming nihang singhs and went back to ther usual ways. My grandfather told me of atleast 10 people from our village who did this, adopted nihang dress to loot people. the 1947 riots can therefore not be considered as an event that nihang singhs were inolved in. Blame for the riots should lie in the hands of those who produced masses of literature prior to partition in order to incite racial hatred, but then again the muslims were doing the same thing.
