  1. If I'm not wrong, what you mentioned is not Baptism. It is "Gurte" (the first thing baby is given after the birth).......traditionally (based upon the culture), it involves mostly sweet drinks (obviously in drops). Some parents/grandparents reciete Gurbani (based upon their religion) while preparing that drink and give it to baby. In your case, it seems like the parents want a Granthi to perform this rasam and Granthi Ji chose to prepare Gurte with Patashe and Khanda.
  2. FYI I found another name for Akdam Chakra (Gurmukhi version) or Akathaha Chakra (Sanskrit). Another name is "Wheel of Pythagoras". There seems to be some information regarding "Wheel of Pythagoras" as compared to Akdam Chakra. It's good to know that number of unrelated cultures use the same principles.
  3. Hello everyone, First of all please please get real knowledge about your body and not the information that mainstream media and today's most of the doctors tell us. High Cholesterol levels are not the only cause for Heart problems and High Cholesterol levels are NOT because of foods. Most of the Cholesterol is developed by our Liver. Do NOT take Cholesterol controlling drugs. Tip: You can take Cinnamon (Ceylon only and NOT Cassia) with RAW honey (unheated, unfiltered, unproccessed, totally natural) with water on room temperature before doing to bed and first thing in the morning. But do NOT take it for too long. So, in my option, one needs to take care of Liver in order to control cholestrol. Moreover, Cholesterol is required by body. The following articles might help you to know yourself better. These articles are from a doctor with 30 years of practice. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/12/05/does-high-cholesterol-really-cause-heart-disease.aspx http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/06/06/tips-to-lower-cholesterol-naturally.aspx http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/08/10/making-sense-of-your-cholesterol-numbers.aspx http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/10/22/debunking-the-science-behind-lowering-cholesterol-levels.aspx http://mercola.fileburst.com/PDF/Cholesterol_SpecialReport.pdf
  4. It seems like you've misunderstood the meaning of detachment. Gurbani is not asking to stop loving. Gurbani is asking to stop loving selfishlessly. There is a diffference in love and attachment. Attachment is the mother of all miseries. It is one of the 7 negative emotions of the mind. It arises when one has something and he becomes attached to it by identifying himself with it. Possessing anything is very dangerous because it creates attachment. There is nothing that is really yours. You become attached to things and people, and you think that they are yours, but they never belong to you. There is a difference in attachment and love. Attachment is selfish; love is selfless. Attachment brings bondage; love gives freedom. Attachment contracts consciousness; love expands it. Attachment becomes a source of torment; love becomes source of liberation. A relationship built on expectation can only bring misery; these days most of the relationship are attachments and not love. When Spiritual people asks about getting rid of attachment, they are not asking not to love or not to care; actually they are asking for unselfish love. In reality, getting rid of attachment is true unselfish love. e.g When my work is done, if I say that I am going to carry the table home with me, the organization will say, “Stop! This is not yours. What is wrong with you? I'm just supposed to use it. I am not supposed to own it. e.g You don’t know how to use the things of the world and you start owning them, that’s a serious problem. You are not enjoying the house, beautiful house in which you live. But you possess it, “My house, my house, my house.” And then becoming proud, you get intoxicated and then you get attached. Non-attachment is like a fire that can burn the binding power (germination power) of past samskaras.Non-attachment and love are one and the same. Learn to love all the things of the world, just as means but don’t get attached to them. This is the secret—the philosophy of non-attachment. If you really want to enjoy life and be happy, learn to practice and understand the philosophy of non-attachment. The greatest happiness in life comes from giving. All the things of the world belong to Providence. Please use them. Don’t try to own them. That’s a serious mistake that you are committing; something wrong with your thinking, something wrong with your behavior, something wrong with your understanding. So, there is a formula: all the things of the world can be used by you but please do not get attached, because they are not yours, they are given to you. "What you own today was not yours yesterday and will not be yours tomorrow. It does not and will not belong to anyone. You consider it your own and rejoice. This happiness of possession leads you to utter grief. Don't seek to possess things."
  5. Jaikara ji, would you be able to translate and also type?
  6. Would you love gold braclet and hate gold chain or vice-versa? Some would love chain but hate braclet or the opposite. But the wise person doesn't care because he knows that it is the gold in both the cases and it is just a matter of different shape and both could be redesigned to bracket or chain. In limited sense yes we would have to hate the things that lie in your spiritual way. Is this what you wanted to hear?
  7. It depends upon the way you look at Sharab as well as Sharabi. Ideally, everything is GOD; HE is in everything including sharab and sharabi. We call sharab as bad because it cloudes our Bhuddi. Who forces us to do take sharab? Our Mind loves or hate sharab because of its previous habits (in this birth and in previous births). So, bottom line is it is Mind which loves or hate sharab. Now, would you love or hate your mind? Ideally, when our birthi is one with God, then there is no difference between paap and pun; sharab and good; good and bad. BUT untill our birthi is not that good, in other words, until we cannot see God in everthing, it is required to avoid anything (including sharab) that distrupts our spiritual journey. And in order to avoid such things, we've to train our Mind to avoid certain tendencies (like taking sharab), we've to tell our mind that sharab is not good for me. Now, if you call it "Hate sharab" then it is your way of training your mind to avoid such things. Once we are with God, then everything becomes God and when there is only ONE then whom to love and/or hate.
  8. What is the source of Vair (Enemity/Hate) OR say why do we have hate anyone (good or evil)? HE is Nirvair (without hate) and we too are without hate IFF we kill our ego. Man minus ego is GOD. We hate because he think ourself different than the other but in reality we all are one. e.g Does our hand thinks that why should I give my hard-earning to other parts of body in other words he is selfish? If it thinks that way, our body will not be able to function as expected. Same way we suffer because we are selfish. We suffer because of our mind and its modification which in turn is dependent upon karmas. We suffer because we think ourselves different from the other subject and here lies the problem. We all (good and evil) are one. We could be (infact we are) creator of our own destiny if you know your mind and its modifications. If we don't want to study mind, karmas etc. then the simplest rule for happeniess is: Accept whatever God has for you and do your duty in unselfish way and skillfully. Pain is not in the objects, pain is when we attach ourself with the objects/persons etc. i.e Moh/Attachment. GOD has not asked us to develop Moh, HE has given us things for our better journey but we attach ourselves with objects so much and then suffer. e.g We go to a journey via train - during our journey we meet several people and develop love for some, and during we got very good luxury sleeper to travel. But when our destination arrives, we have to leave train and its luxuries and also have to leave people that we met. It is not possible to take sleeper and/or people with you once your destination is there. It is foolishness to attach/moh ourselves with the objects or people during the journey. Who is to blame here if we develop Moh/Attachment with the objects during the journey. God? No, it is us who developed attachments and there lies the cause of our suffering. e.g We don't feel actual pain if we're not attached to the subject. e.g We feel pain when some near one goes away from this world; but at the same time we feel happy when we kill germs of our body. So, basically, the pain/suffering are not with objects, it is with attachments.

  11. Kam1825 veerji, Could you please upload FULL "Sri Gur Partap Suraj Granth" Teeka or steek? I know that partial teeka is there but (if possible) please upload complete and FULL Teeka/Steak for all Ruts and Raas. Thanks Das
  12. Does anyone has access to Bikram Jantri with all Sangrands and Gurupurabs for 2012. Is yes, please post it.
  13. I might be totally off, but as per my understanding of "buddi maala parvaan nahi hondi" means that "Old string of beads" is not good for meditation. "Maala" means string of beads and does NOT mean old age women.
  14. Katarpanthis might not like this, but this is what I've heard. I am not aware of 10 times but yes, doing bhagti during Maagh is considered more fruitful as compared to other months. The reason is that: The day of deities start on the first day of Maagh and their day is equal to 6 earth months. In other words, deities remain awake during their day (6 earth months) and they sleep during their night (6 earth months). Their deities night, bad forces [even these are under GOD's control] remain awake. As per Baba Nand Singh ji Kaleranwale: Those who remain awake on the night preceding the day of the pooranmashi will attain the spiritual merit of doing one month worth of amritvela. Those who remain awake the whole night preceding the pooranmashi of Guru Nanak Sahib Maharaj ji’s advent to this world will attain the kamai (merit) of one year worth of amritvela! The point is to remain in yaad of Guru Nanak sahib ji the whole night. Note: Religion is just a discipline (set of rules) in order to attain GOD. GOD (via HIS 33 crore devte) does not discriminate based upon caste, creed, and religion.
  15. This is what I understood from all the sources: Because of the selfish deeds of everyone on this earth; earth has already started complaining.......man has misused money, power, and natural resources and has done bad in order to pursue their selfish desires.....be it a nation or individual person. In other words, human has not used his Free Will for the betterment. Therefore, because of the above, GOD has a plan to clean our consciouness. And this cleaniliness could be in the form of natural disasters, physical wars, civil wars, anything we could imagine. Some say that even 2/3 population will be destroyed. And this could have been avoided by becoming unselfish and loving but it seems like we might have already crossed the limit to avoid it. After 2012, there will be a shift in human's spiritual and mental thinking. After cleaning earth, earth will be governed by spiritual people......this is a possibility that these spiritual people happen to be Khalsa......but may NOT be the Khalsa that we used to identify with ONLY physical properties. But there is high probabllity that Spiritually Inclined (Khalsa) Sikhs will rule India, Pakistan, Bangadesh etc. in the near future. and this rule will last for 5000 years. Bottom line is here: This is the GOD's plan to save our planet and this is not the first time it's going to happen. There are cycles within cycles within cycles within cycles. And ending of each cycle does bring some destruction (or creation depending upon how you view it). Bigger cycle brings great destruction and smaller cycles bring smaller destruction. The biggest destruction is after one set of Satyug/Treta/Dwapar/Kalyug. Each yug has sub-yugas and each sub-yogs has more sub-sub-yugas and so on. This time by Dec 2012 we are entering mini/sub yuga of Satyug within Kalyug which will last for around 5000 years. das

  17. Anyone has knowledge about this book for Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji (Rara Sahib)?
  18. Does anyone has the digital copy for Ruhani Sandesh for Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji (Rara Sahib). I think it has 2 volume. das
  19. Can I request who have not replied to this thread to please at-least post "No, I don't know" so that I don't have to post a message everyday to get more information. Come-on, it won't take time to share your knowledge on this topic OR if you don't know please post "No, I don't know".....specially where are the senior members?
  20. I find it unconvincing if some senior members (including book writers) that they don't know anything about this topic (Khanda Bath with Kachi Lassi and also of Panj Amrit). Should I assume that they just do not want to share this knowledge for whatsoever reason? Come on speak up.
  21. Anyone having more information on Panj Amrit (Milk, Curd, Ghee, Sugar, Honey) and if possible some references in Gurbani/Vars/Granths etc. Basically, my intention is to prepare article (with Sangat's help) and then paste on the Gurdwara which is deadly against Kassi Lassi. My intention is NOT to prove something to the management of that Gurdwara, but just want to bring something truthful to the Sangat (specially youth) because that management is just mind washing everybody every week. Kindly, provide me more information on Kachi Lassi (being part of Panj Amrit) and why Kanda is given bath with Kachi Lassi. Thanks
  22. Very useful information Kalyug veer. Thanks for that. Do you happen to have any information on Akdam Chakar??
  23. Hello everybody, In one of the Gurdwara in our town did the sewa of Khanda with only milk saying that bathing Khanda with Kachi Lassi is BrahmanVaad (because Hindus does this to their idols). I do NOT agree with them. I read and hear that spiritually Milk is considered to be Satvik and pure. But do any of you has more information on the following: * Any case where our Gurus and Sants have said anything about "How to do give bath/sewa to Khanda before replacing cloth". * What is the significance of Kachi Lassi (basically Milk and Water) in terms of Spiritual. * ANy other information that would prove that we did not do it because we're following Hindus rituals. We used to do it because it has some significance and Hindus and other religions did this for the same purpose. These so-called modern day scholors reject anything that is previous and Hindu related by saying it is Brahmanvaad!
