  1. As far as i know the Farla was given to one chardi kala singh to represent in the UK. And it wasn't Niddar Singh.
  2. True, but you're missing the point Xylitol's trying to make - Waheguru is everything - preserver, destroyer, etc. Everything is under Waheguru's hukam, there is nothing higher.
  3. The trick is not to believe everything you read - we all have enough bibek to filter out right from wrong. Sometimes hearing different viewpoints helps get to the truth, makes you think and makes this place more interesting.
  4. trust me geezer, life in london is not fun......why do call yourself "Wahegurubol" and swear in most of your posts? clueless.....must be the bollywood influence.
  5. Yes, they have a great human rights record and really love Sikhi.
  6. The problem is the love for 'kursi' - i've seen many Singhs destroyed when politics takes over their minds. You can't generalise entire sampardas - if you look, you can still find a few Nam intoxicated, chardi kala people in all 4 sections of the community, but you you have to look hard. Gurbani actually mentions that out of thousands, there will be only one true Gursikh.
  7. Thanks for the information. Amardeep - that's why i wanted the translation.
  8. Has anyone come across a translation for Uggardanti on the internet? Please let me know....Thanks.
  9. Anyone know where i can find kirtan of Bhai Nand Lal ji's writings?
  10. Singhs who were at Taksal at the time of Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji all agree that it's Bani. However i was told that certain Banis are 'not for everyone' and even that parts of Sarbloh Bani are generally meant to be kept gupt from 'the masses' as they require anubhavi gyaan to be fully understood.
  11. For what it's worth, Pir Suleman (from "the Suleman tapes - Rarasahib) mentions the same thing i.e. Yam took him to Azrael, who 'sentenced' him.
  12. Another test is that they don't teach different things.
  13. Sounds like a slave mentality similar to that found amongst people in other former colonies.
  14. Amazing. I've heard of many such cases and witnessed a few myself. Who is the baba ji you talk about?
  15. The Singhs i've spoken to from Taksal all say they are 100% certain that it is 'the Bani of Guru Gobind Singh Ji', so yes.
  16. Niranjana - i think he's refering to the commonly quoted line: "Jab Lag Khalsa Rahey Niyara......." Don't know where it's from though.
  17. Quite a few Singhs from 3HO (check out www.sikhnet.com) wear Cholas to work. Personally i feel that 'Bipran ki reet' relates both to Hindu practices and trying to be like the majority (hiding your identity) - basically not having the guts to stand up for what's right out of fear of what others will think. The Dastar and 5Ks help give the strength to stand alone. Hence the link between Bana and Bipran ki reet. BTW - Bana for me refers to the external kirya of the Khalsa and Bani the internal.
  18. Traditional style Kacherey are made in such a way that you can wear nothing else and still be decent (for want of a better word). They also give you loads of 'room' keeping everything healthy, more comfortable than boxers, can't be pulled off, nala has many uses, etc etc
  19. No, Kachera. Look at: http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...ficial%26sa%3DN
  20. Kya baath.... thanks Kam - that is what i was looking for. a must-listen for anyone wanting to do simran. Hope it's the complete set of Bachans.
  21. Neo - i tried downloading the file today and the first 2 mins or so are fine but then it sounds like its 'scrambled' - like a chewed up tape or scratched cd. Does it work for you?
  22. Homer, this has been discussed to death on this forum.......
