  1. "...Paath Competitions" how does that that work?
  2. Explains why there are muslim, hindu and sikhs with that name. thanks.
  3. lol...you're not implying...... btw, are people in Punjab today with the surname Dogra related to the traitors?
  4. I agree that Turk is not = muslim, because of the line "...Turk Pathan Aml Kia..." from Asa di Var. Turks and pathans are different peoples, so it's not necesarily a reference to the religion (though Turks are mostly muslim).
  5. Some do, many don't - I learned quite a bit from http://www.mianmir.com and www.info-sikh.com The first site mentions Guru ji as 'Sahib Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj' but isn't written by a Sikh, which shows that his followers have quite some respect for Maharaj. There's fascinating stuff at http://www.info-sikh.com/PageDesc.html They still have Maharaj Ji's Mala and Hukamnama!! Wonder what the Hukamnama says?!
  6. Fateh! I need some info on Mian Mir (who laid the foundation stone at Harimandir Sahib). Does anyone know why Maharaj chose him? their relationship? where he came from? what happened to him? etc. The web sites I checked don't help..... Thanks!
  7. Beetlejuice - the questions you ask have been asked before again and again. Use the search facility. Please keep private battles private - i (and i'm sure many others) don't come on here for this admin-cut.
  8. gsingh00 - it's not about force - get someone to hold you in a headlock and try to slide out your head; or a guillotine choke; or a neck crank etc. Gurnit singh - where do u live? I can't find many singhs to roll with.....
  9. Interesting.... personally I think different types of Kirtan appeal to Sangat at different avasthas - I kid you not when I say dharmik hip-hop got me on the first steps to Sikhi. Raag Kirtan at that time was just boring - like A-level maths would be to a kid in year 1. BTW, Rarasahib style (especially the original) and AKJ are very different. Sant Isher Singh Ji always asked the sangat to sit still, close their eyes or look only at Guru Sahib and was 'shant'....
  10. Haile Selassie I wasn't Rasta or Bobo - read about him. He was just 'adopted' by the Rastafarians and was in fact an Orthodox Christian and had no dreadlocks. The only Rastafarians in Ethiopia are Jamaican immigrants....check out wikipedia to get an idea.
  11. Cheers Shaeediyan - I'll try out these techniques for sure!
  12. Liabilty may have been the wrong word, just that the dhara takes a battering sometimes depending on who I'm training with - ironically, it's the Singhs who don't think twice about pulling! the others are a bit more respectful..... The reason I ask is that I know Singhs have been training in wrestling for centuries, so there must be a way the old warriors tied their kesh and dastar to make them more secure - a dumalla comes off just as easily as other styles when sparring hard btw.
  13. Thanks for the idea, i'll try it for sure. What about the dhara?
  14. Fateh! My dhara has grown somewhat and ends up becoming a liabilty when practising grappling or wrestling. I know many Singhs do some martial art or the other / shaster vidiya etc - what do you lot do? Also, is there a way to do the jura so it doesn't open? - I tried many styles of dastar but they all come off at some stage. Show me the light Matheen
  15. Amardeep, some people reckon that gyaan needs to be earned, so they aren't so free with their knowledge. That leaves people like me as ignorant as ever. It's a shame because, like you say, some people here have a huge amount of gyaan.
  16. JM - are these the same as 96 crore khalsa gupt fauj? also, do shias have the same view of 'heaven' as other muslims?
  17. lol- I just came across it today and thought it sounded good....
  18. JM, 1. what does the word Panth mean? - we always hear that it means nation, what do you reckon? 2. Some of us don't really give a c*ap about caste or race, but i know some do. 3. I have been a victim of islamic violence....but with Guru's kirpa sorted them out and I still love them all. 4. I am not in de-nile i am in de-getto. You are young, my son, and, as the years go by, time will change and even reverse many of your present opinions. Refrain therefore awhile from setting yourself up as a judge of the highest matters.—Plato
  19. Muslims oppressed Sikhs until the fall of the Mughal raj (except for a a few short periods in-between). It is natural for there to be mistrust, logical or not. A lot of what is being said above and the Iran thread reminds me of how the RSS claim everything was invented in Mother India, but this time it is Persia.
