  1. I agree, professor Surinder Singh Rocks! He is a khoji and he isn't scared to say the truth, or what conclusions his research has brought him to!
  2. Nagar Kirtan Value? Walking towards a heart attack! We walk and walk (which is nice...more people including me need excercise) but then we eat mataiy (sweets) and samosay like we've never seen them. Not realizing these were delicacies in our grandparents time...when people were actually active! So I like the walking Everything else?....well most people have a gloomy disposition, as everyone does while they sit in gurdwara (Im speaking of the masses not the chardikallah uchi avastha gurmukhs who are constantly imbued in maha-ras of the sangat) What should we do instead? maybe learn, maybe encourage more communication and discussion in the community...may encourage our uncles to stop saying "bhain**o" and "godhvaray" in the same sentence while they chomp away at juicy tandoori chicken and guzzle their pints! I believe life is more about understanding and adoring the truth as opposed to a penance based spiritual reward...although the latter entails the former. I am congressi, does that make me RSS? (and no, I'm actually hungry)

  4. In our 10 guru's time, It was tradition to go to your guru to get your child named. That is how anand (guru amar das ji's grandson was named)
  5. I LOVE congress...does that make me RSS? On a more serious note and not to detract from Niranjana's great post. I do agree with him. These internal strife creators make sikhi, the sikhi saroop a common gesture. Bhagti is incomprehensible for their pro-logic minds.
  6. k, can we get back to the topic. Is no one else inspired by anyone?
  7. Hanji N30, Tell us why baba karam singh hoti mardan wallay
  8. no apologies needed for me, but I LOVE the way you said "drawoff"...thats awesome, I will 'draw' because I'm a drawer!
  9. on a more serious note, I have bhai gulaam mohammed chand's video and I will be posting it on the net with the help of NEO .
  10. rang baranga, I agree with you about the jagat jhoot bit..it is one of the bajjar kurehits for the khalsa. I totally agree. on the other note, I do padhs constantly...not tutti; in actuality, if the problem was me carrying tutti in my pockets; then the padh scenario would be debunkt...please don't do my baseti on the net...your veer drawrof
  11. 5281 mak, thank you for setting it straight...I love forums:)
  12. Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh! I just commented on the ajooni magazine thread and thought "which sikh of yesteryear really inspires me the most?". I have 2 people and 2 simple reasons: Kavi Santokh Singh: I have been reading his garab ganjnee teeka and his mindset and astuteness in his thinking are beyond me. I find it to be very very comprehensive and it is a good solid platform for further 'khoj'. I also love the scholarly contribution he made in his time. suraj prakash granth Nanak prakash and many more..... I also like his pagh on this link http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http...9CA219%26sa%3DN The second person would have to be baba sahing bedi. He must have been something else if he were respected by all. Everyone claims him as his own, sevapanthi, nirmallay, nihangs, udasi's, sikh sardars, bedi's.....I actually took a trip out to una to go see the gurdwaray...Very beautifully kept, and restorations are in place to keep it architectural true to its origins. I like his pagh too. AUTHORS NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT SABOTAGE THIS THREAD LIKE OTHER DISRESPECTUFL MEMBERS like "dr@wrof" (not to name names). Lets keep this serious guys!
  13. Tsingh, I believe the accolade given by bhai Dukh Bhanjan is based on the blessing given to baba kaladhari by guru gobind singh ji with regards to the birth and stature of sahib singh bedi. He said "your grandson will be my 'ansha' avatar". This could be a story that was created after the fact, but I am leaning towards this story because there are instances in history where people have had blessings from the guru and they have continued and remained. I don't believe there is a semi-mystical VIP lounge where all the sikhs who have had blessings meet or sit down... as for the poker adverts, they are testing our greed, lets just be happy that it isn't the porn stuff that usually comes up....(oops, that doesn't happen to anyone else??) drawrof..mahapaapi ps. ansha avtar (from my memory) is a charismatic leader who does raaj
  14. Bhai lal is different from bhai chand...even though they may be from the same ilk. I am chardiankallah but I do alot of padhs because I eat too many potato chips (as you guys would like to call them 'crisps'), am I hurting everyone's sentiments because I have indulged in the gluttony of eating? does it hurt your sentiments..(that I don't know but I it would certainly require your avastha to be really high in order to not lose dhyaan when I let it rip). nonsense aside, rababi's were kicked out because they wouldn't become amritdhari. They would have the same mentality of anyone sitting on any kursi because everyone wants to be karta purakh...and then sit back and be 'rab'....its our ego's best attempt at emulating god...hence we have the philanthropist who now can "BE GOD" by doing good for the less wealthy....but I think they do padhs too and I feel that the sanctity of my padhs, which are still more consistent than most people's 'iraadha gets ruined by entering the wrong nostrils.!
  15. On a more serious note, what would be a logical and effective approach to this matter. Clearly, modernization is seen as the hallmark of progression..regardless of whether the work is done tastefully or not; so my question boils down to what steps can be taken and how. Is there any media source or big whigs we can use to counter this?.....
  16. I like the daler pentra...with one hand up and one leg cocked....tilted back , one finger up so no one can close a grip on the wrist, and the leg shaking like a crane kick...then you can say Na Na Na na na re, na re, na re....
  17. cheeseburger with fries...Yes Please, I'll take a stab at it
  18. I will be the chips! why don't they just take off the panels of gold...drill through the walls, put in air conditioning...maybe even a tanky on top of darbar sahib...the airplane or even better..the roman warrior (so its like 300)...then instead of gold, which is going bad...just simply put up gold colored bathroom tiles...that way if the tanky spills....darbar sahib will be clean...my only concern is that the christmas lights and tinsel do not fall...... cheers...I also think they should go back to the candles in darbar sahib, instead of the fluorescent lights...which are tacky, and then have a disco ball at the top, to spread the light....why not think outside of the box!
  19. my life is a paradox I am RSS and I like McDonald's cheeseburgers, so I think I have to quit my religion and I would like the islamophiliacs to explain to me why it is okay to serve beef at mcdonald's but next to impossible to get sausage???? is it a coincidence or are you guys on this website in guise to push ronald's agenda??? dhan dhan AAA steak
  20. Niranjana, could you please exand? I am not sure as to why khem singh bedi was knighted...this would help everyone.
  21. I disagree with Niranjana, his observations at a glance would seem logical and intelligent but it tackles the issue at a "us" vs. "them"...which you have rightly alluded to in your many obsversations about groupism on the net. I'd like to shed some light on khem singh bedi. I will be as broad in my scope as I can afford to be without compromising the focal point. I will write in short terse sentences as I've already given my intention backgroud-descendent of baba lakhmi chand, ancestor accepted khanday ki pahul, who was then given a blessing of an 'ansha avtar' for a grandson (I am talking about baba kaladhari and his grandson baba khemi singh bedi). mystical realities= the descendents of baba phool ji, namely the raja's of jind, nabha, and patiala, were in prominence...so the guru's word was true maharaja ranjit singh was the descendent of 5 generations of seva to the guru khalsa panth...his boons were also realized and squandered baba maharaj singh was seen as a great leader for the community but he was shafted by maharaja ranjit singh for the dogra brothers...hence the influence of the dogra on the sons of maharaja ranjit singh and their amicable nature with the british. British policy- eradicate all sense of 'tribal, ancient, old' religion and take advantage of colonialism by subduing the masses. Methods included getting people to question their validity as 'cultured' humans and constantly using duality to pitch them against the ideal...the rulers who were british. The British took the constructs that the masses were used to and worked with those to tweak the constructs in their favor. TThey had a modernist approach and saw everything as being 'practical' (something you hear from the youth of india even today..functionality takes precedence). byproducts of british policies: arya samaaj. A reaction by swami dayanad 'modernizing' vedic religions to take out rituals. This form of religion was understood and promoted (inactively, by not having much protests against it) and many sikhs started cutting their hair and adopting this path Effect on khem singh bedi= He was from an affluent family that had 360 villages around kalaar, which even, if split up, would have provided enough money for the average bedi at that time. He also saw the blessings of the guru and realised that people had to be mobilized and was upset that the dogray were in power Reaction= khem singh bedi started doing prachar from peshawar to kalaar his chakarvartee would last 2 years before he cycled a village again. The bedi's were naturally respected as per indian tradition with familial respect. So he was treated as a 'baba'... british's counteraction= they kept giving him more land so that he would stop his empowerment as he preached hindu's and sikhs were from one stock etc etc... (originally they took it all away, and only gave a fraction of the amount, but they kept giving more to subdue him) I do not know what he was knighted for but khem singh bedi would have been smart to keep his detractors close at hand...
  22. Gurfateh guys, firstly, let me apologize in advance as what I am about to say will come across harsh. I was wondering how many people actually listened to this katha on dasam granth by swami brahmdev? I ask because they clearly call him swami brahmdev udasi at the 24th second. The reason I ask this is that we tend to give people with titles or accolades due respect. Although these people specialise, should we not be striving to learn ourselves? why deny ourselves that sacrifice that guru sahib provided for us? I respect everyone, including myself, that life is busy and we can't learn everything. My benti is that we try to be more mindful and then try to understand....sometimes the language is hard to understand, I agree. I love this site because it allows people to say what they want and people can deduce what is right and wrong using that knowledge. The recent dialogue on the sikhi-shia thread is amazing becuase it empowers us all...may waheguru bless everyone so much that we can be ambassadors for guru sahib in the best possible way...we do not have to agree with each other on everything, thats not really going to happen stay in chardiankallah and please take my request seriously
