Serious note if you get a chance go to the Akahara for Shastar Vidiya i have been to 2 lessons ie: 6 hours and my entire physical aspiration towards my body/khalsa/guru have increased for the better, I no longer just sit there getting fat, I feel the "bir ras" to train,weights,vidiya, download the traning videos and watch them and try to copy the moves and you'll see the benefits (I don't recommend the weapons, you'll need serious guidence, but the shastar namaskarn,mool pentra etc you can do in your living room, go to http://www.shastarvidiya.org/video/ & download the vid's PS: i haven't started chopping up goats, and eating meat, but you never know..hhaha(joke) :wink:

Vahiguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vahiguru Ji Ki Fateh I heard over the weekend that the Dasam Granth contains some ‘taranas’. My knowledge of the Siri Dasam Granth is very limited, can somebody give me an indication where I can find these. I was always under the impression that the taranas were in the sarab loh granth Queston asked by sangat please reply and I will fwd all replies

Working on the Sikh Cyber Museum has been a great journey of discovery for me. I have learned so much about a very important part of my peoples history and an important part of history of the country in which I live today. A history that very little is known about or talked about. A history that binds the cultures of Sikhs and the British. There is a general identity crisis within the asian youth of today because they do not know, what they are doing here, or how they have come to be here, or who they are. Only when we look into the past and understand where we have come from can we ascertain where we are now and more importantly in which direction we must venture in the future. I hope this website helps the next generation of British youth to learn from our past, appreciate each others cultures and make a connection for the Future. hmm..very interesting points thankyou Ironic how this posting above speaks of dividing the Sikh faith yet the AKJ remain ALONE on their stance with regard to: a) being anti-Raagmala, compulsory keski for women, c) compulsory "naam drirh" (which incidentally arises from Radasoami influence) d) puritanical fanatic compulsory vegetarianism, e) what can only be described as "pakhand" Kirtan (devoid of Raags) f) brahminical use of Sarbloh (amongst the self-proclaimed "bebeki" AKJ) g) their endless renditions of Bhai Randhir Singh's texts which are equivalent to the Christian 10 commandments. They also reveal through their actions a complete LACK of knowledge with regard to: a) Gurmat Sangeet (knowledge of Raags and musical meters) Shastar Vidiya (knowledge of combat arts) c) Ayurveda (knowledge of medicine) d) Santhia (correct learning of Scriptures) e) Katha (expounding scriptures and historical texts) f) Ithihaas (historical study)

Read "Sikhs of the 18th Centrury" by Surjit Singh Gandhi(dodgy name poor guy) but the book is good, see www.dtfbooks.com for other books

!!Barcardi/Coke & a few Spliff’s ! ONLY READ THIS IF YOU ARE AT UNI,& you DRINK,SMOKE SKUNK & LOVE LIVING LIFE!!! People may think I'm crazy, but I feel so high from sikhi, its just that it hard to feel it when you don't realise what this "thing" called Sikhi is so great. When I started getting into Sikhi 2 years ago, all my knowledge of sikhi was a photo of Guru Nanak in my front room. I used to love uni, man all the late nightclubs, checking out the ladies, rolling the skunk & keeping sweet with all the lads. Trimming the goatee beard and gelling the hair …..and putting on the badest garms ..man I’m just smiling writing this. It was a good laugh man , blazing up the reffa’s and chilling to Redman,Wu-Tang. Many people don’t realise how happy House and Garage can make you high, such a buzz when you see the dance floor packed with people of all colours & creeds. At uni we always used to go to the library with the thought of “yeah man,got assignment to do,well go to the library from 10 o’clock to 4 and then go to happy hour, what happened we used to get there at 10.30,scratch our heads thinking of what books to get by 11 would have gone out for a quick ciggy by 12 aaah let’s go to the bar to see whose there…and that’s was party time again …. Clubs were wicked coz now I look back and think if it weren’t for my mates and if it were’t for the gigs, I wouldn’t have been here today. I always had my conscience battering me sayin “Don’t do this don’t do that†but I always ignored it coz that’s what my mind loved doing. Uni is tough man especially when you walk around behind shadows of everyone else,no one knows weather they are coming or going. If anybody asked what religion I was I would hold up my kara and say “I am a sikh†then I used to such a hypocrite, when I used to see a “PUGWALA (smoking and drinking I used to get so p****ed of & used to cuss him, and when I used to see sikh girls drinking or smoking I used to think, damn man I gotta marry one of these girls one day “and she ain;t gonna be smoking or drinking†I always thought if one day i do become a singh,i won;t be like that dodgy singh Then after a 3 years heavy sessioning, I was getting sick of the same routine, get up bill up, and chill do assignments and driving up and down uni road’s trying to look bad! Man there must be more to life I always asked myself, and today I can say clearly there is!! But you don’t know why because it’s not your fault. I never reliased that Guru Granth sahib was NOT just a book and IS MY GURU. I used to read the history of the Great SikH Women, who used to have there baby’s chopped up into little pieces and hung around there necks, beaten and raped to be forced into converting to Islam…but they never gave up there faith in the Guru ji. I remember reading the story of Bhai Taru Singh who said the executioner “You can chop of my head ,but not my hair or beard be cutâ€â€¦.I recall story’s of Banda Singh Bahadhur having his 8 year old son’s heart being ripped out in forced into to his mouth to make him convert….my brother and sista’s your HISTORY,YOUR HERITAGE IS SO GREAT BUT NO ONE WILL EVER TELL YOU IT JUST MAKE THE EFFORT TO READ A WEB SITE(do a search) OR LEARN A SHORT STORY,TAKE OUT 10 minutes a week anything read a leaflet or shabad from http://www.sikhitothemax.com and do a word search I used to think what will happen to the gurdwara’s in 10-15years time, I used to think that if I DON’T CARE ABOUT SIKHI ,THEN WHO WILL!!! Its all good but you can't beat doing it yourself, and being present in the seva, alot of ppl nowadays just "pay and prey" ..sad ..but its kalyug

You have to keep clean it helps the brain function try it don;t have a wash for a few days and see what state your mind is in after a few days, have shower and freashen up and you'll seee the difference, (ps:it was long time ago @ uni, i swear) Sikhi requires a high discpline and that means the in all aspects, the body could be as clean as possible, but the mind still looks at women in lust ...so the mind is what we try to keep clean,through contemplation and practice. :idea:
