  1. Asterix was much better than all the aforementioned crap! A small group of pendus holding out against a larger group of imperial invaders with a magic elixir that gives them uncommon strength and courage. Hmmmmm........where have I heard that before....sounds quite familiar?
  2. That explains a lot. Big tip for you. Don't watch that crap - it will turn you into an idiot, read some intelligent books instead.
  3. Actually I take that last post back. In a day and age when people don't bother reading, you should be given a pat on the back - even if it is The Famous Five.
  4. Famous 5! You big bunch of girl's blouses! lol I'm messing (partially).
  5. I would have thought the freshies would have been looked after in Wolves??
  6. That's what kills it. You can send the message back home, show them videos no less! But still that pendu mentality that thinks everyone is a liar out to thwart them has them doing God knows what to get here. They don't even do any sensible planning, thinking that they will get here and everything will be cushty. I'm just amazed no one has opened up trade schools in Panjab so that they can have construction skills to use when they reach here!! For God's sake that's what the majority aim for here, you'd have thought that someone, in all these years would've clocked that one back home. Plus they frequently can't even speak English or speak it really poorly at best. We've gone from being this apparently highly successful community (which I think is possibly a dubious statement in itself - but that's another matter) to having some of our people sleeping rough in a matter of a few years. Are people back home ever going to understand that it actually isn't like heaven over here? UK isn't a good place to be right now. They are better off in US/Canada or even Australia. Hell I think even places like Malaysia and Africa could offer more opportunity? I tell you, the increased rightward swing here doesn't help either. Some of the white firms who may have formerly hired desis, now aren't having any of it. Plus, those Polish, Albanians etc. etc. are coming here with skills. Our lot aren't. Really?! What Gurdwara was this?
  7. I'm surprised no one has beaten you with the blasphemy stick for saying that! I recall reading a Kapur Singh article that was suggesting that much of the contents of DG were not written as bani but as secular literature by Guru Gobind Singh ji.
  8. Nice to see the Gurdwara making effort to help. I know some round here allow them to sleep in the divan hall if needed and are open late for them. All things said and done, I'm sort of proud of the way our lot do actually help the faujis despite some people thinking we leave them to the wolves here. I've got to know a few and although you get the odd obnoxious twat, some of them are nice guys. That being said, I don't know why they came here as they would be infinitely better off in Canada? UK is a bad choice, I see lots of them loitering around. They look stressed. I think they thought it would be cushty when they got here. Reality is a mf. Hell, I know plenty of new grads and other UK raised people who have been out of work for a while now. What chance do these guys have? At least they have somewhere warm in this cold weather as well as a chance for a hot meal.
  9. You carry one like they are angels Mithar. Like there isn't a world of crap to sort out in your society that is specifically the result of perceptions of macho Jat culture. Have you noticed what happens on the west coast of your country for instance? Or are you going to pretend idiotic spoilt 'gangsta' jat boys aren't killing each other like lowlife thugs there? Anyway, if you keep living in denial, see how your communities problems will grow. It's your choice. Plus my idea of construction courses for pendus back home is a golden one. If they are good, they can come here and do site work with better wages. I don't know why no one thinks of these things back home? Is it because the boys out there will feel ashamed of openly doing so called 'low caste' work? Then come here and beg for it anyway.
  10. Just someone calling things as he sees them. Without any gloss. We have issues in the UK and we need to organise ourselves. That involves directly and bluntly facing up to and combating certain idiocy we have going on amongst ourselves including backward village type mentality and blatant sycophancy amongst other things. Trust me. It's for the better in the long run and has been avoided for way too long. It's time for some frank exchanges and changes.
  11. And as a serious suggestion, I think people should open up trade centres where villagers can learn bricklaying, carpentry and plastering etc. back home. That will help them immeasurably when they get here, and it will help the economy there too. Seriously. That this hasn't already happened says a lot about our people's sense of planning.....
  12. What, that I feel exasperated and openly attacked certain crappy things I have been witnessing amongst ourselves for decades now makes me egotistical? Maybe I'm just tired of it? Anyway, you sure it isn't because your own 'caste pride' is being prodded? It's about time we faced up to certain crap we've been tip toeing around for too long in the community, lest we get yet another generation of backwards penducentric youth. Don't shoot the messenger. If you don't like the message, change things.
  13. I say more power to the faujis too. It must beat sitting around on a farm back home feeling suicidal because some Bahman did some mysterious complicated mathematics on you and 'ruined your life' beyond any hope. Or wanting to jump into a well because farmer x down the road spent 5 times more on his daughter's wedding than you could afford and you now feel like a lesser man or losing your mind with envy at the sight of another apna visiting from UK/US/Canada with some cash to spare + any other miscellaneous pendu backward crap you can think of. lol
  14. Do you think this is limited to UK youths? I meet pendus from backhome with this same attitude regularly. Go to the westcoast of Canada and you'll meet even more jumped up Panjabis there. Maybe it's a much wider issue in the community than you are making out?
  15. According to the account azaan was banned in Amritsar. I've always presumed this was down to nihangs myself. M. Ranjit Singh seemed to be more concerned about banning beef eating in his kingdom than this type of stuff?
  16. I had the giani at the Gurdwara try to give me a lecture about following Akal Takhat maryada etc. I don't think they are too keen on me doing the longer DDT reharas? He seemed to be against sampardayas? I just told him that the sampardayas can turn around and say that they have older maryadas and that they can say that the SGPC were historically politically influenced by goray. That's another thing though, like when you sometimes go for a congregational prayer at the Gurdwara and they do the other shorter reharas, it feels like you've missed some out. I mean, I'm not knocking anyone doing the shorter one because in this day and age, with things being as they are, apnay doing any prayers at all is a good thing - short or otherwise. But yes, it does feel a bit 'something' that I can't quite put my finger on. Back to the thread. One thing that no one can deny is how DDT have put themselves squarely on the Sikh map with their actions over the last few decades. They also don't have the stigma of 'political sellout gundh' the SGPC have now. They've so far managed to keep themselves pure of all that. I don't agree with every single opinion from them but one thing no one can ever say about them is that they are sell outs. They manage to reach the masses better than anyone else too.
  17. Look I get it. You got upset when I laughed at your people's masters. I'm sorry. Anyway, if it makes you feel better, I don't really give a toss when the taleban get it either. Win win to me.
  18. I'm sure you have both personal as well as intergenerational experience of being the white man's he-biatch of choice yourself! When you were growing up, I bet you this fellow was your hero and role model.....
  19. And you can pretend like other people don't have the experiences that you like to downplay for obvious reasons. Just shows you where your loyalty really lies.
  20. That's fine. You have to say though, it's pretty low of certain peasants to consider the people who do the very jobs that they've ended up doing themselves as 'low caste' isn't it?
  21. I agree 100% I don't support any of them. It's Tony whose doing the loyal Panjabi bulldog crap. Like we haven't had enough of that shit already in our itihaas. It was Tony sir....he started it! PS - Surydev, I must say, your last post was very witty. Have you started reading books or something lately? ; )
  22. You know Mithar, you don't even broach the other side, how so many of these pendus come here thinking they are better than 'vlaathis'. Bring backward peasant caste ideas that they conveniently seem to forget when they become labourers, and then resurrect at the first given opportunity, dragging our quom back to the medieval age again. Not all of our parents/grandparents came here unskilled, it's usually peasants that do. Who also come with a idiotic 'better than you' attitude. Plus, don't you think after all these years of migration, people back home would at least up the odds in their favour now with some understanding of the jobs market in the place they are going. Especially since there is an easy exchange of information now? I'm sorry brother, but you seem happy to just excuse all poorly thought out acting/behaviour by our lot. You should try raising the bar a bit. The way people still make blind leaps abroad from Panjab and end up in deep shite these days is exactly because of this.
