Is this O.K

There was no need for all that swearing , bullying & shaming him on youtube. If they really wanted to change this boys life, they should have just pulled him aside discreetly & discussed the issue. Indians have a terrible habit of meting out justice on the spot. They probably themselves have low characters. with no right to shame anyone like that publicly.

Next time this kid will either smoke in private or will probably cut off his hair once he is out of his parents supervisions or who knows may even take drugs to rebel.

By Indians you mean all south asians or the people living in India. , Years ago I was on a atheist site defending Sikhism and one clean shaven  smoker sikh turned against Sikhism in few days , reason he said he was smoking with his friends and some sikh moral police attacked him , he was from USA or canada, so i guess these incidents happen in sikh communnity  above only is the proof

I once saw a video where they beat a pathi so bad who was old just because he did path at some other gurdwara sahib ji. That kid can sue them for posting this on Internet, they ruined so much for him. Can he live a normal life now since it will go viral and whatnot. What are the chances that kid will not go towards a crappy road now. in couple years, this kid won't be Sikh anymore and won't be afraid to smoke in public because of the video and people insulting him.

And if meat eating is allowed in Sikhi, why smoking is bad. Don't Nihangs do marijuana? I am not happy with this video. That poor kid is saying sorry like crazy.

Do you people think that this is .O.k., how is it different from Islamic hardliners or Hindutva brigade who beat people for not following religion

Unacceptable behavior by those people. Thank God, they did not beat him up.

They should have dealt with the boy privately and tried to teach him about Sikhism in a polite and a humble manner.

One cannot force religious beliefs on others; one can only preach.

Another example of unacceptable behavior (worse than the above).

They are beating an older guy!  Are we not taught to respect our elders?  So shocking.

The thinking is: just mutter Hari Hari Ram Ram, feel numb, feel good... Tomorrow go back to feeling weak, so either take some drug (best for everyone you just hurt yourself) or hurt someone weaker.. This is religion.

It's good to beat smoker or drinker. If you disagree you are jealous and resentful. This is Sikh religion.

Sikhism prohibits violence against smokers or drinkers. Sikh religion does not force its beliefs on others. Even a Sikh nation, will not force its codes of conduct on people of other faith.

You sound like a decent guy, and there are many like you, but there are also plenty of nasty and violent people among all communities, including sikh. India is already rough and ready anyway, and life is cheaper out there. I don't hold Sikh responsible, because it's clear there is opposition to what's shown in these vids, but average level of meanness among humans is always quite high, and that dictates what usually happens.
