Why did Sikhs in the past sided with the British and even now side with them

I'm a Gujjar male and my people have historically been one of the most resistant people of south asia, we were labelled as a criminal race from the British and as a untamed race from Mughals, almost 99% of Gujjars were involved on the rebel ends in every independence fight, the only other tribes that have a resistant history similar ours is the Waziri Pashtun and the Bhil forest tribes, these two routinely also were never easily subjugated, even till this day the Waziris are fighting NATO, the Bhils are fighting the Brahmins. Why do Sikhs have a habit of siding with white people? Even in britain when the males from places of Pakistan pimp and sell white women out, you will see Sikh people also in the EDL siding with white people, is there a genetic reason for your trechary? The reason why the Indian army does not have a Gujjar or Bhil regiment is because these groups routinely fought against the invaders, and its suprsising because Gujjars have all the requirements, most the people here are tall, strong, look like wrestlers and stonelifters but get stereotyped even by bollywood a criminals for siding with the rebels instead of the imperialist.

Bro, some Sikh kings did side with British, but many Sikhs fought against British too. Sikhs gave plenty of sacrifices to free India from the British rule, even though they were less than 2% of India's population.

A Baptist Sikh is  Loyal to his death. Fearless. Sikhs in army where baptized pledging allegiance to humanity, truth and guru gobind singh jees teachings.

Till this day, the world has not seen an army of such strength driving them. Lots of research around this too by non-sikh academics. Possibly Sikhs embedded love in true faith.

It seems like the British gave you that martial title which means you weren't given that title from south asian people.

Sikhs were divided into two camps. The anti-British army of the Lahore darbaar and the pro-British armies seen in the smaller sikh kingdoms that were bordering Delhi and were fighting the Lahore sikh empire. When the Sikhs sided with the British in 1857 it was (from my understanding) mostly the armies from Patiala, Nabha, Jind etc (Who had always been pro-British and even fought their fellow SIkh brothers).. Some of the defeated Sikh soldiers from the Lahore darbaar also joined the British army - and for them it was mostly a question of avoiding the resurection of the Mughal Empire.

Firstly, after the Anglo Sikh wars, those who mainly took part in the mutiny...they had fought against the Sikhs some years earlier so the Sikhs did not want to help them, it was their way of taking revenge against them in the Anglo Sikh wars.

We do not need a title from any Tom sick or Harry. the king of kings guru gobind Singh gave us our martial title, we don't need reassurance from anyone else. We know who we are & don't need to prove it.

Martial title for Sikhs came way before British. During the formation of Guru Hargobind Singh Jee  (est 1606 )  till Guru Gobind Singh jee  (est 1708) - whom formed the Khalsa pure) Fauj (army). The British just re-used this concept to drive their motives. All the Sikh army where baptized pledging allegiance to Khalsa Fauj - becuase the British where flabbergasted at the Mind set that these Martial warriors where given once baptized.

Gujjar - take a peek into history and your discover for yourself.

Are you a gujjar from Pakistan or India? Gujjars in india are still up to thievery and all sorts. Pakistani Gujjars seem to have done very well for themselves though.

There is no treachery in our DNA. It comes down to people siding with those who they think will be better with. Pakistanis or gorre? Most Sikhs, if not all would go for the gorre. However please don't make the mistake of thinking that any individual or group speak for the whole Sikh people. As a muslim, that would be one of the silliest mistakes you could ever make.

we don't need status to know what Gujjars have done in India Pakistan and also Afghanistan, it was the Gujjar Chauhans who fought Ghori, it was Solanki Gujjars who then fought against Ghaznavid, it was Gujjars from Delhi who fought baber so much that they needed to send 3,000 of babers trained people to kill them, it was the Gujjars of the Gujara Pahithira who fought the Arabs and ended them when 6,000 of us fought 30,000 Arabs and stopped the Ummayad Caliphate, it was the Gujjars of Afghanistan gave the Abbasid Caliphate trouble, then in the 1980s it wad the Gujjars of the Kunar Province who fought against the Soviets there, the 1857 rebellions were mostly people of Gujjar and also bhil ancestry, my people lost everything from land and status fighting invaders. The Gujjars in Pakistan are mostly in Jihadi Lakshyra O Taiba, while Afghan Gujjars are in Hizb E Islami, the Gujjars in India still are fighting to get reservation.

So Gujjar, the world is moved on and Gujjars are still fighting battles of the past. Fighting NATO, should you guys be awarded medals for petty wars.  Yes, I fully agree Sikh fought for the British because the riches that were promised and received. It's the Gujjars who get treated as absolutely filth. It's remarkably easy to come on this forum and spew out countless amount of hearsay.
