In my time, when you were at school, we all had to go assembly and there were usually christian tales/sermons/hymns (which, looking back I sort of enjoyed singing sometimes). 

Yes, this can be a pathway to conversion, but where I grew up, kids were also made to visit the Gurdwara on a school trip, so........

There's a difference between say attending mass at catholic school as a non catholic out of a loose love for God, semi optionally, and say....catholic boarding schools where indians were raped and genocided. 

A dif between a field trip to say a mosque and being converted to take shahda or death and death penalty for speaking your native tongue.
