  3. Guest Jee, love for Waheguru can first be started by Sadh sangat, for it is there where one hears the mahima of His infinite magnificence. Then too, we must bear in mind, that He Waheguru is nothing than an infinite Ocean of Love, Prem da Sagar. Love for Him, is only possible by His bakshish, His kirpa. His kirpa is always being showered on every one, but the thing is, our bowls are upside down, so we benefit not from it. So in order to be receptive to that His kirpa, His Prem, is only possible by making Him "razee", or pleased. And the thing which most pleases Him as per Bani, is, when we engage ourselves in His Bhakti as per His Simran. His Simran, purifies us from all our paaps/impurities. Once a bit purified, we put more efforts in doing His bhakti, the consequence of this is that, we are making ourselves more and more receptive to His pyaar, His Daya, His kirpa, His bakshish. So the secret to love Him, is to please Him with what He most likes, and that is nothing more than doing His chintan, His Simran. In this respect, the Bani tells us: ਭਗਤੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੋਈ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਰੰਗੁ ਧਰਤਾ ॥੨॥ Bhagath Thaeraa Soee Thudhh Bhaavai Jis No Thoo Rang Dhharathaa ||2|| He alone is Your devotee, who is pleasing to You. You bless them with Your Love. Or look it the other way: You bless him with your love, he who pleases You. There is an utmost beautiful quote from the Bani which says: darshan paava jeh Tudh bhavaa. So you see, through His bhakti, not only we get His blessings for loving Him, but something still more wonderful yet, and that is His darshan, by pleasing Him. Such is His beant wadeeayee. SSA.
  4. “Knowing Is Not Enough; We Must Apply. Wishing Is Not Enough; We Must Do.” – Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe This one line of the author above, has a very deep meaning if seen in the right perspective. We all know much of Gurbani, we memorize the Banis by heart, but yet as seen above, that is not enough. For knowing only by itself leads us no where, we MUST apply what the Banis tell us in each and every verse. By just reading the prescription.... We do not get any recovery, no matter even if we read it a thousand times... It is only when we take the medicine as per the prescription, we can get cured. And in Gurmat, the medicne is His Nam. Also, our biggest malady is haume, and due to this haume, we are trapped into manmat/agyanta, which induces us to remain engaged in the painful chaurasee ka chakar The Bani says: Prabh ka simran mun kee mael jaae .... Brothers, it is only when we do His Simran as per clear instructions in the Bani, that our agyanta will be removed, and once this agyanta is removed just as rust on a piece of iron, we shall regain our purity and gradually start getting closer to Him, just as a piece of iron towards a magnet. Then, wishing only to be with Waheguru is not enough again. For that, we must do something. So we may ask what to do now? The answer again leads us to what the Bani constantly stresses upon, His chintan, His simran. In that respect, the Bani clearly tells us: Jin Har japeeya(simran), se Har hoeeya. Guru Sahiban and Bhagat jan left the Bani for us, in order to see His apaar mahima and then to strongly love Him though His bhakti of His Simran, in order to get purified from all our negatiivity, such as karmas, paaps, vikaras, sanskars .... in order to fill ourselves with the Amrit of His Nam, for the only purpose of merging our surtees in Him and become one with Him. No matter what the world does or says, it is the Sat Bachans of Guru Sahiban which alone count, for that is the timeless Supreme Truth. That is His Beant wadeeayee. SSA
  5. Importance of Sri sukhmani Sahib Sukhmani Sahib, is the key to attain supreme bliss. Just as hunger can not be satiated, just by reading, talking about food, or looking at pictures of delicious food. All this is only good only to the extent of making us go in that direction, where we can get the real food and eat it, in order to satisfy our hunger. In a similar way, to derive the true happiness and true bliss to which Sukhmani refers to, can be well summarized, just with the very first starting verse where it clearly tells us what to do: ਸਿਮਰਉ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਉ ॥ Simaro Simar Simar Sukh Paavo || सिमरउ सिमरि सिमरि सुखु पावउ ॥ Meditate, meditate, meditate in remembrance of Him, and find peace. It clearly states and repeats 3 times the word Simar, which means: meditate, meditate, meditate on His Name, and you shall achieve eternal peace/happiness. And eternal peace can only be achieved when one merges in Him. Thanks to the Bani, we know that the real food is Nam, which satisfies our hunger of True happines and peace, this Nam is also the True Amrit, by which we become immortal, means, we get freed from the unendable cycle of births and deaths, not otherwise. So, in this sacred Bani of Sukhmani Sahib, Guru Jee is talking to us about True eternal happiness, and also about how to achieve that ultimate peace, by the simple, effortless, and the all fruitful practice of His Simran. SSA
  6. Just as one can not stop the waves, but one can learn to surf. In a similar way, one can not stop the reactions of the karmas, but through His bhakti, one can go above them, without losing balance. Such is His apaar kirpa, His Daya Meher. SSA.
  7. In my humble opinion, I think it means, that the mystery/depth/ updesh of the 5 Shabads is revealed by the Guru, and He tells us to one pointedly meditate on them. SSA.

  9. Dear brother Amardeep, it would be better if we say, that the Creator Himself, assumed a limited form as a Guru, for us limited beings, in order to teach us the Higher Truth in our own terms. Gur Gopaal Purakh Bhagavaan || The Guru is the Lord of the World, the Primal Being, the Lord God. Raag Gond Guru Arjan Dev He Waheguru Akal Purukh, is Alakh Purukh, is Nirala, is Agam Purukh, thus not perceived, not only by any our indriyas, but our spiritual sight is also taped by our karmas, vikars, sanskaras...... So you see, not only He is subtle, thus not perceived as said above, but neither we have any such instruments to reveal Him, for we are spiritually blind, thus all our actions are futile. He also, in His original form is in a way to say, He is limited, for however He may much want, we can never ever have His darshan, nor profit from His akhoot Jot. So He comes at our level as a human being like us, which is considered the top of the creation. He comes as a Guru, as Guru Sahiban, because He, our True Father and Mother, can not resist Himself, when He hears our terrible wails of pain and despair due to our own karmas, for that is what in reality exists in the mayavee creation. And His greatness is such, that in spite of being omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent, He respects His Hukum, His bhaana, in terms of His own created laws of nature. He does not display any supernatural powers, that is not His character, unlike the avtars of gods, godesses, or other spiritual entities. His purpose of coming here, is only to make us know about His true reality of Nam or Shabad, and to make us foolish agyanis understand, that Nam is the only eternal and unchangeable Truth that exits, and is the only boat, the only vessel, which by boarding on, we can cross from the false and perishable creation of Brahm, to the other side of the shore, where only eternity and True bliss exists, namely Sach Khand. Gur Bohithh Thaarae Bhav Paar || The Guru is the boat to cross over the terrifying world-ocean. So you see, if the Guru is the boat to cross the maha bhavsagar, it is just but natural, that He Waheguru, assumes the form of a Guru to take our souls across, isn´t it? The glory or mahima of Guru and Gobind is apaar, words fail to describe Him, He is beyond any description.... Stay blessed. SSA.
  10. Usually Void or Sunn, in spirituality, is referred to the cosmic space between 2 levels, 2 realms, 2 khands, ..... The Void between the region of Brahm(not the Brahmlok or place of residence of god Brahma of the hindu trinity) , and Satlok/Sach Khand, is so much filled with utter darkness, that it is impossible to cross without the Jot, the Light of Shabad Guru. And to give us an idea of that utter darkness in that Void space, Satguru Guru Angad Dev Maharaj describes it to us in His following Sat Bachans: ਜੇ ਸਉ ਚੰਦਾ ਉਗਵਹਿ ਸੂਰਜ ਚੜਹਿ ਹਜਾਰ ॥ Jae So Chandhaa Ougavehi Sooraj Charrehi Hajaar || If a hundred moons were to rise, and a thousand suns appeared, Eaethae Chaanan Hodhiaaan Gur Bin Ghor Andhhaar ||2|| Even with such light, there would still be pitch darkness without the Guru. ||2| Here, He is saying that there is already a spiritual darkness (agyanta) without a Guru, but also, He refers to the utter darkness before reaching His Darbar. He says, even with the light of 100 moons and 1000 suns all together, without a Guru (Shabad Guru), then too there would be utter darkness to even think of going through it all alone by itself. It would be as good as an attempt of suiciding. That is why Sree Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj clearly tells us in the Bani (Ang 864 - 3) : ਮਤ ਕੋ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥ Math Ko Bharam Bhulai Sansaar || Let no one wander in doubt in the world. Gur Bin Koe N Outharas Paar ||1|| Rehaao || Without the Guru, no one can cross over. ||1||Pause|| For the Guru alone, the Shabad Guru, has the Light of Waheguru Akal Purukh Himself, to pierce that horrible darkness and more, to reach safe back in the lap of Waheguru Akal Purukh. That Shabad Guru or Nam, is also the one to which the Bani refers when it says: Nanak, Nam jahaaz hae, jinee chareeya se utareeya paar. That Shabad Guru is Nam, in whose company/ or by boarding onto it, one crosses the Maha Bhavsagar and reach our Nijh Ghar, not otherwise. For that very reason, the Bani in almost each Ang, stresses upon Nam bhakti alone. As we know, on this respect it also says : Awar kaaj tere kitay na kaam, mil Sadh Sangat bhaj kewal Nam. Nothing is of your avail where salvation is concerned, so join the sangat of a Sadh, and do or practice Nam bhakti alone. Gurbani is perfectly clear and transparent, that it leaves no doubts as per what we ought to do, if we want to merge in Him only, otherwise we are free to wander in the chaurasee ka chakar Stay blessed. SSA.
  11. The best religion is that one, which takes us gradually above all existing realms and merges our surtee in Him, and that one, as far as I know is Sikhee. First it prepares us to become good human beings to all beings, for as long as we have hatred or ill feelings towards anyone, we can not evolve as spiritual beings, thus our chit or mind can never ever get fixed upon His Lotus Feet. For, to be able to Love Him (prem bhakti), and merge in Him, we need to be pure. And as the Bani tells us, Nanak Naam jahaaz hae, jinee chareeya, se utareeya paar. Sikhee teaches us how to get hold of that Universal Power of Naam, thus reach Sach Khand, and become one with Him. What else is then left to be achieved? The answer is obviously nothing, thus, Sikhee at least for me, is the best path. SSA.
  12. Brother, when we say mirror, it refers to the spirit nature , not the physical. Everybody rich, sick, poor, or any other physical aspect is related to karam, whether past or present, for without karam, nothing can happen. Karam has to do with body and induced by the mind. The creation is made as such, that it is impossible to be here without incurring in karam, whether good or bad. It is only when we firmly hold on to His Lotus Feet through His Nam, His Shabad, His Amrit Bani, that one arises above the web of man( mind ) - maya - karam, thus the endless cycles of births and deaths. Attaching oneself to Him through His very Bhakti, has to do with our freedom for ever from the mayavee creation and return our Nijh Ghar Sach Khand, where we merge and become one with Him, and thus be also Sat(Eternal changeless) Chit (all Consciousness)Anand (permanent bliss ), just as He is. Apart from Him one Satnam, all else is false, transient and perishable, thus "koor". With Him Sachay Patshah, only goodness is found just as Light from the Sun. By being away from Him, only pain and ignorance are the consequences of that separation. By ourselves we can hardly do anything for we are moorakhs, mughads, agyanis, and above all heavy sinners. It is by keeping Sadh kee Sangat, that we learn to grow and mature spiritual wise, to the extent that we merge in our Origin Waheguru Akal Purukh. That is His beant wadeeayee. Stay blessed. SSA.
  13. Inhale WAHEGURU, exhale all negativity

  14. Waheguru Akal Purukh, is also known as Alakh (Unseen) , or Agam Purukh (Unaccesible). Unseen, means the unseen or formless form In Sach Khand, the form, beyond the last mental plane, or causal plane. This form is Sat Shabad, pure Shabad or Naam, or Satnam. So in the line above of your post, the Bani is telling/describing us about the reality of Guru Sahiban, Satguru; that the True Guru, Satguru, is the very manifestation of that Agam Purukh, who is Nirvair (without rancour) and Nirala(extraordinary beyond any description). And the beauty of Guru Jee is, that while being omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent in the human form of their time, does not display any miraculous powers, not does interfere with the laws of Nature for their own profit ...... it is just beyond any imagination or description. Waaaheguruuuuuuuuuuu. SSA.
  15. Though the topic of this thread is posted quite some years back, nevertheless I find it interesting, for it can happen to anybody and anytime. Just my 2 cents. Usually this faithless state takes place, when things do not happen according to our thinking or wishes, so it deeply goes inside and attacks the person, and when one becomes fully aware of it, it is a bit late. To reverse this state of being faithless, it will take quite a bit of time. It is not as easy as switiching on or off the lights. So it is better to go slowly, than to slip down before even standing up again. First of all join sadh-sangat, go to Gurdwaras, do sewa, listen His mahima in kathas-kirtan, have an attitude of a beggar at His door in order to be graced with faith again, do any type of sewa at Gurdwaras, lastly do Waheguru´s chintan/simran of His Naam, this is the base of getting restored our faith and have deep faith at His Lotus feet. Then, do not have expectations, let things flow as they ought to happen. For getting disheartened, is the worst enemy of faith. Though however difficult it maybe, we should always have a shukraana attitude for Him, and try to mentalize ourselves and say : Tera bhaana meethaa laagay. Stay blessed. SSA.
  16. Just my 2 cents in this beutiful topic/thread, Real knowledge(GYAN) comes only by doing , what our belief tells us to do, by implicitly following the instructions given to us through the Bani, of those who themselves are embodiment of Gyan, such as Bhagat Jan and Guru Sahiban. And that what we ought to as per Bani, is : Ik Oankar, Satgur parsad Jap. We have to do the jap/meditation/simran, of that One Supreme Lord, through His Nam. Rest is all man-mat. Satgur bajoh hor kachee hae Bani SSA.
If I am pleasing to You, Lord, then I obtain the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. Raag Maroo Dhan Dhan Satgur Nanak Dev Maharaj Guru Jee, in His beautiful line above is telling us that , all of us want to have His darshan somehow, but the thing is, as He says, I get your darshan if, it pleases You, or if You are pleased, it is the same thing. So according to the Bani, what is it, that which Guru Jee constantly keeps repeating throughout the Bani to do, in order to please Him. The clear cut answer to this question in simple and direct words, is also given by Guru Jee in the following verse, though sadly many jeevas are deluded in man-mat, in doing what they see others do, but, never ever try to understand what the Bani is telling us to do really to please Him, and thus fulfill our purpose as human beings. The True Lord is pleased with those who love the Shabad. And so how do we love the Shabad? Well, by meditating on it, only. Through Simran/focused and attentive jaap. Here Guru Jee is flatly telling us we manmukhs, how to please Him. For as seen what the whole wolrld do, absolutely everybody does that thing, which they think is for their benefit somehow. Nobody ever stops to ask himself/herslf: whatsoever I do as bhakti as per my view, is that pleasing to Him? If not, then why do we keep on doing it? Of what use is that our manmat? Why so much lack of faith and futile discernment, in the teachings of our Guru Sahiban and Bhagat Jan? Why? In another verse of Guru Jee, He tells us: ਸਾਚਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੋ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਏ ਨਾ ਵੀਛੁੜਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥ Saach Milai So Saachae Bhaaeae Naa Veeshhurr Dhukh Paaeidhaa ||12|| साचि मिलै सो साचे भाए ना वीछुड़ि दुखु पाइदा ॥१२॥ The True Lord is pleased with those who merge in Truth; they are not separated again, and they do not suffer. Once again, we may ask or think, which Truth is reffering to, Guru Jee above? And how do we merge in it? Well, the Truth is only One. Shabad/Naam / Sat-Nam (Ik Oankar Satnam). And merging in this Truth, is meditating on it so much with love and devotion, that we get merged and dissolved in It. Once merged in Nam and becoming one with Him, as seen in the second half of the verse above, we are not born anymore in the ever suffering wheel of 84. So much grace is being showered by Waheguru, yet we remain empty, for engaging in doing all those things which not only do not bring us closer to Him, but rather, take us farther away from Him, such as ..... reciting, bathing and pilgrimages, etc.... all these things, keep us outside, while our goal (Waheguru)is within us. And that what we ought to do, we simply dislike it and take it as a fantasy, or pure theory only; when the fact is, the devotion suggested by Guru Sahiban, is the ONLY Bhakti which has real value or results in terms of pleasing Him, and thus God realization. Stay blessed. SSA.

  19. Gurprasad, is the blessings which one receives from the Guru, the Parsad from the Guru. What does one usually do when one receives the parsad? One usually intakes it, isn´t it? In the following anmol bachans of Third Patshahee He tells us: ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਥਾ ਸਰੇਸਟ ਊਤਮ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਚਾਖੀ ॥ Har Anmrith Kathhaa Saraesatt Ootham Gur Bachanee Sehajae Chaakhee || Through the Guru's Teachings, they intuitively taste the sublime, exquisite and ambrosial sermon of the Lord. Here He is telling us, that Guru Jee gives us His teachings, His gyan as parsad, which if we intake it, practice it, follow it faithfully, we shall taste the Amrit Naam. This is the apaar wadeeayee of Guru Jee, for giving us such parsad , by which if we taste it, we get cleansed from all our sins, not any otherwise, thus become worthy to merge our minuscule drop soul, in the Infinite Satnam Samundar. Stay blessed. SSA.
  20. Supreme importance of Naam bhakti, above all other practices for the sole purpose of our union with Him, Waheguru Akal Purukh. Naao Poojeeai Naao Manneeai Naae Kilavikh Sabh Hiriaa || he who worships the Name, and believes in the Name; the Name erases all his sinful mistakes.
