Sri Satguru jee might have used Cannabis as a medical supplement too.

@Kaur Inder - Please listen to the link above, if you haven't.
Marijuana/Opium was primarily used by the Sikhs as a pain killer during war times.

Those historical texts were not written by Daas. If you are not interested in studying them, that's your choice.

A quick aside on physical and emotional violence, and men and women.
If we say that men excel in the physical and women the emotional. I would caution women to not threaten, or engage in, violence with men. It's therefore also inappropriate to threaten it, and it puts men in a very uncomfortable position.
Considering that emotionally women are a super highway, and men are a foot path, in the world of the brain and nervous system, it's unfair for women to abuse men emotionally also. That would be like a man using his forte, and beating on you.
Ultimately we all need to respect each other.
I think it's a little cheeky to both threaten somebody with violence, and complain to the admin in the same paragraph.

People keep quoting this without reading the whole shabad in context.
I'm actually interested in old texts, like I said before, I don't necessarily literally believe in them all, but I still think we should not hide them like you are suggesting. We've had enough of that already.
BTW bhen ji, have you read this from an eye witness to the anglo-Sikh war?

paapiman reacted to dalsingh101 in Following All Rehatname
The impression you get (from extant hukamnamas from Guru ji) is that overall the idea was for Sikhs to be well armed. In some hukams they use the 'panj hathiars' phrase and in some a more plain wording that just says to come with 'hathiars' is used. I don't think it was as super rigid a prescription as you seem to be thinking, with an exact specification of weapons. That's probably why you see little variations in between rehats.
The 'kirpaan gatray rakh' might not be a separate rehat, but just specifying how to carry the kirpaan. I vaguely recall some rahit saying not to carry your sword slung over your back (like a Ninja).

Like I keep saying, I don't literally believe every last word of these granths but find them fascinating nonetheless.
Yeah, PP mentions a wrestling bout between a selected Bandai and Tat Khalsa jawaan, and the Tat Khalsa jawaan winning and people sticking meat in the losers mouth if I recall rightly.

I don't think so. They just use normal tap water.
In India, they prefer water from bore, nalka or well.

paapiman reacted to Noobhere in Sant hardev ji lulowale
I have been listening to the kathas of sant baba hardev singh ji lulowale. And santji are very wise. And their katha is eye opening, the way they do katha is just awesome.
However, i could not find anything about them online. I wanted to know about their biography, or events in their life. Like how high was their awastha? Or something like that.

paapiman reacted to GurjantGnostic in Dehydration
Here's an example. If you're dehydrated and use Sukha you will get super thirsty. And you will drink water. If you are on a forced march, thirsty no water, that same Sukha is going to hold your thirst at bay. Same with food.

Yes Veer Ji. For the record I don't touch opiates with a ten foot pole and I recommend the same to anyone but the maimed or dying.
I read the posts as well as I could in passing. It seemed more to reference use of certain things in the Paanth, the requisition of things for the Fauj, and a personal anecdote about Sukha which doesn't offend me.
I am interested about the sources but have not had time to read up on them.
I think the Guru Sahiban having Afeem for their Fauj in war and using it are two different things.

It depends on what your body needs and the terpines in the strain.

I think one of the really bad things about sukha is how it can make you ravenously hungry and eat like a soor (especially sweet stuff which is no good anyway).
Haven't been to Hazur Sahib yet, have you tried it? What was your experience like?

I have not had that bleasing.
It makes water more alkaline so I'm gonna go with with hydrating. In fact I'm going to hydrate right now.
We're all dehydrated.
