    DAY 14: 14/2/16
Going to keep it short and sweet today.
Couldn't resist having left over pakoray (from yesterday) for a late breakfast this morning. I know it isn't exactly health food but I had it with green tea and decided to hoover up the house straight afterwards to burn off some of those calories.
Just been snacking lightly today. Having a fair bit of paneer, which I wrap in a single, solitary roti.
Going to take it easy this evening. Feel I can because I haven't eaten loads; though I do feel slightly tired, which I believe is from yesterday's blow out!
Gonna have some green tea now and get some reading in.

    Catch you all tomorrow.

I agree with you here. i do not share meditation experience as i feel its very personal and its like a big kept secret within my own being. also the little gyan i have ill only share it with someone who i feel will appreciate it and use it. Theres a fine line between trying to help someone and expressing your ego.

    Day 13: 13/2/16

Subjective experiences! What misapprehensions they can cause.
Today was quite an informative day. Met my nephew who last saw me a few weeks before I started this diet. So I asked him if he noticed any differences since then. This is what he told me:
"Your waist looks smaller. It was getting a tad bit kudhoo before. I didn't want to say it."
"The area under your chin has shrunk. You look more chiseled about the jawline."
"Your skin looks much clearer. There aren't any spots or blemishes."
I asked them about any losses mass-wise and they said they didn't notice anything significant.
    So there we go.
I think the slight decrease in strength (and aggression), may have been making me feel like I've lost more gains than I actually have?
Went to see my brother, pubi and new niece. Was a victim of our famous Panjabi hospitality. Had about 4 bhaturay (maybe 5 - I know, I know!!), with chana, chilli paneer and a little aubergine. Had a few green teas. Carb overload! Got home bloated and did a shortish ((40 minute) shoulder workout which was really 10 sets of shoulder press and a few light weight burn outs. Just finished that. Feeling better, but that food is still hanging around in my stomach. Probably why I didn't train for longer. On the plus side, I have a small tub of chana and paneer (and a couple of bhaturay...) I bought home, which takes pressure off from making food myself! Might not have the bhaturay....we'll see.
A little tip here: when I have carb heavy meals, sometimes I might juice a karela and drink this 10 minute before eating the meal. It seems to help in combating that lethargic feeling some of us get post-carbs.

I noticed that too. Because of such things I've come to  personally believe in keeping your religious practices to yourself as much as possible. More often than not, talking about it seems to cheapen it. I find people in general can react quite unpredictably to disclosures of religious practices. Plus it's none of their business as well to be honest. I don't expect people to understand. It's the same with meditation: tell people you do it for spiritual practices - they raise their eyebrows. Tell them that you do it for psychological/health purposes and they are more receptive to it. Strange that.
I get rest days, they just aren't planned! lol And, to be frank, sometimes a workout might be so mickey mouse that I hardly count it. I think today was like that for example.

They are a perfect example of what we want to try and avoid!

I trained on Thursday and yesterday (fri) i felt tired, which was expected but late afternoon my body just went shutdown, i literally was on my bed lying on stomach and did not move from that position for good hour. i wasn't asleep, more in like meditative mode (im not a nap type of person)..
Last night had cousins over who decided to bring nandos for dinner, i just told them i was on veg diet and made my own food. @dalsingh101 yeh its not craving, though i felt like having it, its just memories of how good it tastes..lol and the smell hhmm..lol
Generally speaking, I've noticed that when you tell people you are going on a veg diet for religious/spiritual reasons they tend to give a negative response. However if you say i'm going on a veg diet to loose weight, the same people become encouraging and positive.lol
Dalsingh101, as you work different body parts it makes sense for you to work out everyday, although i think one day a week complete rest is beneficial too.. your call..keep it up!!

Sant mahapurshs humility is so natural and simple it leaves you awestruck.
There was an incident that happened in wolverhampton with sant baba isher singh ji..Baba ji was going to attend a divan at nanksar gurdwara and one individual took it upon himself to print posters saying to not attend the divan as sant baba isher singh is a pakand etc.. While a sevak was driving Baba ji they saw the individual pasting the posters on the wall.. Baba ji asked the sevak to stop driving, baba ji came out went to the individual and said 'please let me help you' the individual was shocked and said these posters are about you.. Baba ji smiles and replies 'meleh kapre ninda toye'...
I cannot validate the authenticity of this story as i heard it in a discussion amongst sangat but two things we can learn from this is the humility of elevated souls and that even if one slanders you, let them as they are wiping off your sins.:)

    Day 12: 12/2/16
Today I craved...no, crave is too strong a word....I remembered..... meat fondly.
It was chicken wings to be specific.
Still up on my diet. Made some boiled milk with crush almonds, pista and pumpkin seeds in it as a protein source.
Just finished a little bis and tris workout. Feeling okay, looking forward to a relaxing Friday evening.

I used to try and get a little training in everyday, but was wondering if I should make it every other day whilst on this diet; to allow for recovery? Who am I kidding, I want to try and get something done, no matter how little, every day. I look forward to training, I do it on my own mostly and I feel very comfortable doing it. It's like ME time - even if it's a really shit session.

Nothing else to really report really. So I'll sign off here.

Take care folks, and watch that waistline!

@dalsingh101.. I took superpump max pre sup...It recommends 2-3 scoops but i just took half a scoop as i just wanted a little push as im not a big fan of these things. Defo agree to keep these pre sups short term not long term.

@dalsingh101.. I will keep you updated here and there as do not want to overshadow your blog. I kind of know what to expect just paying a lot more attention to it. 4th day in and this morning when i woke up i felt fresher and did not have that grogy feeling. Also feel lighter and have that 'floating in the air' type of feeling when walking around. I could not train last few days as i had that 'weak feeling', just felt too demotivated to train. But today feel more up for it and will take a pre-sup before training, i do not normally take these sups but feel i need that little energy boost. I'm predicting my bag work is going to have less power but i will be faster. Im also making effort to not eat too much as this tends to happen to me with veg diet, ill keep my self to 3 meals and snack on almonds and fruit.
From my personal experience those who train for muscle mass on veg diet have a high protein shake intake.
@Ragmaala.. have you heard of eat like a king in the morning, prince at lunch and begger at dinner..
As your eating loads of carbs try not having roti at all for dinner (if this is really difficult just have 1 or maybe just half )

    Day 10: 10/2/16

    I did it!
I got off my arse and bought a bunch of vegetables earlier today, and after I finished a little training this evening I made a veg stir-fry (never made a veg one before), had this with a little desi style rice i.e. with jeera, onion and muttarh. The stir-fry (incase anyone is remotely interested - skip to next paragraph if not) had carrots, broccoli, chestnut 'shrooms, green beans, onion, red pepper, green pepper, courgettes, sesame seeds and was flavoured with some soy sauce and Schwartz Thai 7 Spice. I added cashew nuts to it and this really improved it BIG TIME (need to add more next time). Finished it with green tea. I got to say, people (especially those trying to lose weight) should make it a habit of drinking green cha straight after every meal.
Physically, I'm losing muscle mass at the moment. Like I've said a few times now, I don't mind, I'm seeing bulking up with vegs as a challenge. For all you brothers who manage to get muscular on a veg diet - maximum respect - I salute you!
Have to say, today feels like the first day that I ate decently most of the day.

How many do you eat? Maybe you could get away with 2, anything over is asking for trouble. Better you experiment with your diet and find what works for you best! I noticed my tidh is beginning to get a tad 'loose' as well. For me, that is the stimulus for me to now focus on it a little extra, so it doesn't become a jaloos. Planning a longish core focused workout for tomorrow as a consequence.

You should reply: Bheybhay! Main khana, tusi menu ahmay na mota banow! I tell you what though, you've really highlighted how important it is to have control over what we eat. If we rely on someone else and they are a bit clueless - we'll suffer! I've never had a problem with it myself but I've heard some brothers complain that their parents/wives got upset when they tried to eat their own diet instead of the family standard. If they do that, just tell them: "Tu shut up ho ja!"

    See this from 2.30 onwards.

Cool, let us know what you experience (physically and mentally) along your journey.

    Peace!

So you in your OWN words are saying that you have actually read something and understood it? FINALLY!!!
Yay ! that's a first on this forum for you.
btw I had not just justified it. I said it previously but your holiness wasn't up to understanding it actually. It's good that you have finally began to read and understand btw.

Now here is a big test for you. The Samprdayes are not sects. They are traditions in the Sikh Panth. btw can you confirm whether you understand this?

Actually it's you who has been vilifying the Taksal regularly since you have been here, btw. Without reason. Now you want to acknowledge the Taksal maryada?

WRONG! I said it many moons ago btw. Now maybe you actually feel it will work in your favour to accept it?

Actually I said the Samprdayes are not sects. AKj is a sect/jatha. Sri Akal Takht Sahib is maryada from a jatha (singh sabha). These are not Samprdayes and cannot compete with the samprdayes. Anyone who follows a sect will not have the approval of any act that contravenes the maryada of the Sampardayes inc women in the Panj Pyaeru and menstruation btw.

But it's good to see that you have actually began to read other peoples posts btw and understood them partially. That's better than nothing actually.

Paapiman's mentality reveals a lot. I grew up among a lot of South Indians and your typical high caste educated North Indians (Guptas, etc). What I noticed was that in general the kids were in pretty poor shape, embodiment of skinny-fat with no muscle. It was mostly because they were pretty enveloped in their studies and had no time to do sports or exercise. Meanwhile, my Punjabi friends were regular gym-goers, all extremely fit, and many excelling at sports. It was such a dichotomy I got non-Desis inquiring about "the cool Indians" versus "the nerdy Indians." I belonged to the latter group in my early childhood personally, it took a tight-knit group of Punjabi buddies to really push me into pursuing fitness. Even then, I was always considered "skinny" by Punjabi standards and ripped by the other Indians' standards.
Anyway, when I started going to the gym, I noticed the complete opposite. There were a ton of absolutely shredded South Indians and the like hammering it out there--all in their late 30s or 40s, and it seemed like they had started working out recently. Meanwhile, most Punjabis seem to go from being buff gabroos and patla mutiyaaran to being fat-ass uncles and aunties. My parents' South Indian/Delhiites friends would go on hikes to actually hike, their Punjabi friends would go on hikes to sit down under the shade and eat Paronthe. My grandfather was an absolute beast in his youth (so much he was renamed for his athletic prowess) but now he's lazy and doesn't even want to walk or bike anymore.
For some reason, apne mentality seems to be "work-out to look good in your youth, and don't worry about it afterwards because you're going to die eventually." It's honestly an absolute shameful and pathetic mentality. One should pursue fitness for its other massive benefits. Baba Deep Singh was able to step out of copying Guru Granth Sahib birs to picking up a massive Khanda and leading on the battlefield--THAT should be our inspiration, not the Punjab policeman with a tidh as big as his lathi.

@Singh123456777... I use fairtex aswell, but they are a bit on the expensive side. Your training indicates that your going to a proper muay thai gym. Even in london (uk) theres a lot of micky mouse gyms, as you say you pick up bad habits. My training was similar. 3 mins skipping followed by burpees, press ups, dorsal raise, dips squats, 25 teeps, kick,s punchs, hooks, eldows knees, x 5.. Then shadow followed by technique pad work or bag work and end with light sparing. Friday was main sparing where you had to bring your A game..lol. I stopped going gym but do same training at home..But i miss sparring, this is where you really learn about yourself..I prob start mma soon, but just getting my fitness up cos dont wanna pay for session just to work on fitness.
@Ragmaala.. Its never too late bro (for anything), all i would advise is don't rush things and as you get older warm up and warm down is very important, listen to your body..Im sure dalsingh and singh123 can give you plan according to your goal/aim. But all i would say is just start now..like now..lol Just start with push ups sit ups dips squats (costs nothing, you can do in your room)

Well at the start of the session we do skipping. We do three rounds of skipping and in between rounds we do burpees. After skipping we do brutal conditioning and warm ups. So the warmup consists of a lot of push-ups, spring ups, squats, burpees, and other bodyweight workouts. We also do stuff like suicides, sprints etc. After that we wrap our hands and shadow box for 2-3 rounds. After shadow boxing we either hit the pads and work on technique or we hit the Muay thai bag depending on the amount of people at the session. Sometimes we do really light sparring with shin guards etc. In the middle of the rounds of either hitting the bag or pads the striker probably has to do burpees or push ups. The padholder probably has to do squats or spring ups. After the bag or pad work we do some killer conditioning such as 100 hard kicks,100 quick kicks etc. We utilize proper technique otherwise if we don't we get hit in the stomach lol. Then we do a lot of ab work. Then we finish up. This is sort of what we do. This session is for all levels such as for beginners to advance. There are other sessions which have intermediate students and advanced students only. I'm an intermediate student so I can train in any class. I also do separate clinch and sparring sessions at night or after the regular all levels class.

Im going to India so I won't be able to train for about a month. When I come back from India in April I might train for a fight that will happen in june. It will be most likely a 6 to 8 week training camp. It will be my first fight but only will happen if I feel up to it after I come back from India.
