  1. A common belief among the sangat where i live is that Sikhism is a religion based on logic. Therefore democracy, 100% equality between the genders and other notions are herefore a natural part of Sikhism as it is acceptable for the intelect. Kesh it not kept because it is the sign of the Guru, but rather because this is the way God created us(again using the mind to come up with things and explanations). missionary work is also forbidden as this is against the concept of respecting other religions, and the concept of Gurus performing miracles are also abandoned, UNLESS ofcourse there was a good reason for the Gurus to do so(saving lives etc). This is the view on sikhism in my area, but if the Gurus were only "allowed" to perform miracles in times of life-death situations, then why did Guru Nanak perform the miracle of traveling througout the khands in Bagdad? This was an act he performed in order to proove his stance, and not because his holiness was trying to save someones life. Guru Gobind Singh might have executed the panj pyares, as this is what was required for challenge of Maharaj "If you truly love me, then serve me your head) I see nothing wrong in Guru Maharaj executing the panj pyares and giving them a "new birth". Dhan Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj!!
  2. Kirpa Kari hum par Jagmata- Chaupei Sahib <- is this reffering to Mata Sahib Deevan according to Baba Santa Singh NIhang
  3. im not saying that i agree with him, im just giving his point of view. The Gurus presented their message in a way that was normal and known to the masses, and did not as such present them with something unfamiliar.. Today, Raag and classical indian music in not known in the west, so for this sangat of the west,(according to his understanding) it is acceptable to use bollywood kirtan, as it is GurBani that is central, and not the music as such.. GurBani is unchanged. Guru Nanak also adopted various forms of clothing, dependent on which sangat he was in. With Yogis he wore the clothes of Yogis, with muslims the clothes of muslims etc..
  4. i discussed this matter with another Sikh, and he says that the reason is it okay to do "Akj kirtan", is because Sikhism is a universal faith, for all times and ages, and Guru Nanak spoke to the masses in the language they understood, instead of talking sanskrit or some other language that they would not be able to understand. with this said, he then went on to explain, that in these days, Raag and classical musik is not the norm, and therefore it is acceptable to use modern forms of music in order to attract the masses, so that they will understand and relate to the Kirtan, the same way Guru Nanaks message could be related by the farmers and workers as they understood what was being said. they say that if you do everything the way the Gurus did, then you are limiting sikhi into being a simple 14-18th century religion, and not a universal religion for all times and places...
  5. Kharag Singh, Mata Sahib Ji's name was not kaur, but devi ... Mata Sahib Devi, our beloved Mother for eternity. Let our love towards this fabolous Mother increase day by day.
  6. i Think he is visiting Scandinavia in a few weeks, i'll try to see what his views are on the Gurus and post it here.
  7. The principles of the Khalsa can also be found in the Ksiatrya maryada and also the samurais .. the way i see it is that the principles of the Khalsa is not anything new, but rather a universal principle of Chivalry ariginating from God Almighty..
  8. i found this in the book of Mcleod( Dont know if the translation he is using is correct or not) Khalsa Mahima, Sarbloh Granth: By his command, The Lord created that panth which is the Khalsa..... 366. (Created By Akaal, not Imam Ali or holy Prophet Muhamad) Worshippers of Akaal, and followers of the Kshatriya way.....367 (No mentioning of Shia chivalry) From forty men, five leaders of the Khalsa emerged. They were the beloved Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Fateh Singh and Zorawar Singh. The Fifth leader of the Khalsa was the Satguru Gobind Singh, who revealed this noble path....367 (no mentioning of any of the holy Imams as leaders. if the Khalsa and amrit sanskar was a continuation of shia chivalry, would Imam Ali not be the leader? ) further it says: Forty men are the seed of the Khalsa. Akaal Purakh and Bhagavati is the Father and Mother of the Khalsa. 371 Hearing what God tells them in the scriptures in the noble words of the Bhagavad Gita and Upanishadas they follow the auspicious, avoiding what is evil and live as devout and knowledgeabe people. It further goes to say the Khalsa avoids Halal meat. It gives one more refference to a conversation between Sri Krishna and Arjuna on the topic of the perfect saint.
  9. Thank you very much shaheediyan ji. Is there anyone here on this forum, that knows the hymns in the Veda that Bhai Nand Lal ji is reffering to when he says that they mention submission to the Guru of Kalyug.. if so, please give refferences.
  10. Anyone? Neo, Javanmard, Tsingh?.. maybe i should start by cursing and talk trash about ISlam...then some of you might reply
  11. sorry what i mean is, Naamdharis often use the puratan Granths as evidence for what they belive in, so it must be written in many of the granths that our Holy Mother did not wed Guru Maharaj untill after Amrit Sanskar, and that is why they believe in it. If there is one thing naamdharis have, then its knowledge from books
  12. so you agree? that your only problem is because it came from his mouth, and not the saying itself? nice bro.. really nice...
  13. yeah so what is the problem if Maharaj is also the Yusaf of this age? sounds more like the only reason you have a problem with it, is because it comes from the mouth of javanmard
  14. well one could argue that Guru Nanak is also the Krishna of this age.
  15. it is an awesome katha. i recommend everyone to download it and listen to it, and in the meantime, we'll wait for Ustad Bahadur Ali Singh ji's next katha on the concept, role and function of "The Guru" in Sikhism and world history that he will probably upload within in a few weeks If he truly loves me he will do it oh yeah:D MUTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
  16. Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj speaks "Idol worship, ritual, wearing the dhoti, and leaving the head bare are duties that were required in previous yugas(not during the present). During the Kalyuga, the proper duty to observe is that which binds diciple to Guru. Each Yuga has its own Veda. For the Kalyuga it is the Atharva Veda. According to the Atharva Veda he who lives in the kalyuga and obeys the word of the Guru shall find rich fullfilmen, whereas he who does not obey it will sink in the ocean of existence." -Sakhi Rehit Ki by Bhai Nand Lal (Translated by Mcleod) Can someone shed more light on this?
  17. sounds like quite an interesting book
  18. There is a hadith(al qudsi i think) where Allah is telling the angels about a man on earth that worships this and this amount of hours pr. day, and Allah describes him as being the most perfect saint.. The angels are chocked to hear that a man can have such love for God, so they travel to earth in order to see this man. they then return back and say that they have searched every mosque in order to find this man, and they could not find him anywhere... Allah swt then says that this man is a christian monk, and he is to be found in a monastery.. God loves true worship, not labels. back to the topic, welcome back, and please show us the pics from iran soon
