  1. You can love someone/thing without being attached to them. Also, if you don't want to get married, don't.
  2. how, by doing kirtan instead? get over yourself. chatanga, why can't you wake up in time? It's not going to kill you to go a couple days without sleep.
  3. The only thing I can really think of is to have an akhand path in your name and listen to all of it, then doing ardas for help with this.
  4. srsly, one quick call to for advice to a place where you know there are real sants and they'll tell you how to deal with this - asking us for help is really asking the blind for directions.
  5. that could have a lot to do with it. have you had an akhand path there yet?
  6. Yes but if he is also getting visions of people doing jadu with his hair I think it's fair to assume these ones aren't here to ask for bhala. On the other hand, if they aren't directly targeting you then it's very possible that you are just transcending things and becoming aware of another dimension and that they mean you no harm. I remember hearing something about lighting a jot while you do simran helping with this kind of thing.
  7. I meant St Teja Singh Ji at Rara Sahib, I'm not sure if they are the one you mean too. The fact that you are getting visions of your relatives doing this is what disturbs me, but you're right, if you are Nitnemi and go to sangat they can't hurt you. My point is that Rara Sahib Mahapursh in particular have a lot of experience with dealing with this kind of stuff, from what I have heard anyway.
  8. I would get an akhand path done, and listen to the *whole* thing, doing seva etc to help keep up. Im not sure what you mean by dera baba, but I would also get the opinion of a Mahapursh, say St Teja Singh Rara Sahib, that have a lot of experience with this kind of thing.
  9. Sikhi opposes the consumption of Tobacco, not the touching of it. Mehtab Singh, that has to be one of the worst analogies I have ever seen in my life. imo there's no problem with it, it's not like they're smoking themselves.
  10. The point is to replace yourself with the guru. tuhi muhi, muhi tuhu, antar kaisa "true haumai" - oxymoron Where you get the idea of 'no personality' I don't know. When there is naam the person is roop of the guru and has the guru's personality. Before you say then, that all mahapursh would have the same personality 'anek hai, phir ek hai', i.e. nirankar. Fallacy. Ego - (noun) A sense of self esteem or self importance. The true Gurmukh is the dust of the feet of all and has no ego. Ego ≠ personality.
  11. haumai navai naal virodh hai when there is no haumai there is naam naam is the destruction of self
  12. as soap/exfoliant kinda like lynx snake peel except without the 'lynx effect'
  13. that's fallacy you did simran *of* that girl, not *for* that girl. simran is constant remembrance of Mahraaj, if you're thinking of the girl all night and asking God for her (let's ignore that we 're talkinga bout her like she's a bicycle or something) then you are not doing Simran, and at best your 'Simran' is jhoota 'cuz you did it for fal you want advice from a SIkh perspective? riK riK pYr Dry pau Drxw ] rakh rakh pair dhharae po dhharanaa || Carefully, carefully, I place my feet upon the ground. jq kq dyKau qyrI srxw ] jath kath dhaekho thaeree saranaa || Wherever I go, I behold Your Sanctuary. duKu suKu dyih qUhY min Bwvih quJ hI isau bix AweI hy ]15] dhukh sukh dhaehi thoohai man bhaavehi thujh hee sio ban aaee hae ||15|| Whether You grant me pain or pleasure, You are pleasing to my mind. I am in harmony with You. ||15|| Panna 1022, don't remember how to show the Gurmukhi naturally, you won't accept it seeing as it's not telling you what you want to hear
  14. Just go freaking apologise for being a fool (to Mahraj) and explain you probably won't be able to keep it. It was a stupid promise and Mahraj is not a dogmatic a**hole, they'll understand. Seems more to me like you went and promised, and Mahraj's reaction was 'pisht, like hell you will'...or something to that effect. Why people act like Guru Sahib is a sadistic little b*tch that waits for any opportunity to punish you I'll never understand...it's like you all went to Catholic school honestly get over it and quit whining, we don't exist to get married, there are other fish in the sea etc etc
  15. My beard is out of control, and it's job interview time. It's all fuzzy and curly and doesn't pay much attention to my attempts to tame it. I've tried gel, but the kind of gel that doesn't make your hair all shiny is not strong enough to hold it for more than an hour or so, hair spray doesn't do anything either. Any advice?
  16. please, Sikander did not retard anything, he built cities where there were none, built roads where there were none, and was one of the only western leaders that did not discriminate based on race. And even if he did pass through narak, who the heck are you to pretend to know whether he is still there or not, what his karam were, where he is now. I know it's fashionable nowadays to scorn the history of the west but you end up being a redundant jackass. Also, near death experiences are mostly caused by high stress levels resulting in the brain shutting down - they can be recreated clinically complete with shining lights visits from angels etc etc
  17. dhan96crore, argue all you want, but your triple posting makes me want to violate myself with a spork. we have 'edit' and 'quote' functions y'know
  18. Hope you don't mind if I ask some questions too. Is it possible that circumcision is just a cultural practice that prevailed from before Islam was established? What about hijab/burkha etc - these were in use from before Islam, why was their use not stopped? Does Islamic law support 'honour killings' etc that were also part of the culture before Islam came about? If this is the case is it not possible that Islamic law has to be adapted for use between different cultures?
  19. And who on this thread subscirbes to that? Or do you all have such a limited grasp of english that you can't see that even with a generalised interpretation of 'drinking wine' to mean sustained bad action would include alcohol consumption in its umbrella? Before you start, this is a metaphoric umbrella, not some gigantic piece of canvas in the sky.
  20. it wasn't an absolute statement - it was a generalisation what I meant was that to 'drink something' was being used metaphorically and referred to the act of intentionally doing something 'bad' on a sustained basis
