  1. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! I've heard some Gurmat Sangeet scholars say that the tabla didn't exist before the time of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, and that it's origin is from mridang --> pakhavaj -->tabla. However, Guru Nanak Sahib Ji mentions 'Tabalbaaj' in Maaj Ki Vaar, ang 142 (and a few other places as well). So was the word tabla used for other drums or ??
  2. The benefits of Gurmantar Simran (Waheguru) are countless. The article is indeed written by that moorakh, Surinder Multani, chief chela of GRewal, but it isn't a bad article. This is how they try to get people interested in their group. The 'beginner' level stuff is more or less copied from Sikhi, but as you get more involved, the truth about them comes out. No need to lock this thread, but would be good to know how the OP got the article.
  3. For regular cleaning and polishing, you can get Japanese Katana cleaning kits off ebay that are cheap and work well.
  4. They WANT things to kick off within the ethnics. Rivers of blood and all that.
  5. N30, sort it out Singh - freedom of speech comes with jumehvaari....
  6. The same RSS chief who wants Bani of Fakirs removed from Guru Sahib, because they were Muslim? Don't listen to a word that comes from the RSS.
  7. Based on what evidence? There are Nihang sources (Akali Baba Trilok Singh, Taruna Dal) who state it was done around 'Ik Oankaar', until the Lavaan were revealed. Examples please. The Guru's were all the jyot of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji, which is why they used 'Nanak'. I know, difficult to comprehend if you believe in Islam, but that's the way it is. This topic is titled "are Sikhs Hindus?" Gurbani, specifically Dasam Ban,i makes it clear that Sikhs of Guru Sahib are not Hindus.
  8. Discrimination based on caste was totally rejected. Marrying within the same caste doesn't prove anything either way. Look at Gurbani and historic Rehatnamas. Plenty of Dalits/ Chamaars etc are Amritdhari Sikhs and there's no way to tell the difference between them and the rest. I'd suggest you forget all that you think you know of Sikhi and study/ listen to katha of Gurbani first, if you're seriously interested in learning the truth about Sikhi. There is no evidence for any of the views you hold, which seem to be based entirely on stuff you've read on the Internet or Bahadur. Were you here as 'singho' in the past?
  9. It's not something to worry about or even to think about. Our focus should be on following Guru Ji's hukam, and leave what happens or doesn't happen to Him.
  10. The article doesn't make any sense and has no backing from Gurbani or legitimate historic sources. I also doubt that it was written by a Sikh. Weedol, out of interest and to help understand your point of view, what has been your main source of knowledge on Sikhi? Did you go to school in Slough by any chance and learn Religious Studies under Rishi Handa?
  11. In answer to the original question, Guru Sahib states, on Ang 1136," naa ham hi(n)dhoo n musalamaan ||I am not a Hindu, nor am I a Muslim." Settles it.
  12. There are many sakhis relating to this topic. In one from Sooraj Parkash, Guru Ji warns his Sikhs not to deviate from the path or change their convictions or lose their faith in Guru Sahib. Even if "someone/ some shakti manifests in front of you and flies to the top of a tree and sits there, etc (more example of various powers are given)". If people break their convictions or faith in Guru Sahib due to minor things like dreams or even by seeing something when awake, then what chance have they got when Ridhya- Sidhya begin to follow them around or when Maya tries her hardest to break you from the path. It is for this reason that nimrata and full faith in and love for Guru Sahib is required to succeed on this path. Full faith in Guru Sahib's teachings and power, and NOBODY else. Every true Mahapursh teaches this - that there are many distractions and tests on the path, but to keep bairaag and longing for Waheguru until only Waheguru remains and 'you' don't. There are quite a few 'Mahapursh' who reach the level where pirs/devte etc come to do seva and they stop there and think they've made it. 'Prabhta' is the hardest thing to overcome and is referred to as 'bikham nadi' in Gurbani.
  13. It's all through abhyaas - built up over time.
  14. Thanks Singh! Is there any way of downloading these all at once, rather than one by one?
  15. I think it was faster than that, but never mind. Even today, at Sant Ji's asthaan in Hapur, there are savadars who do 101 Jap Ji Sahibs every night, then seva all day long. Mahapursh explained to me that it's done 'surti-duara'. The surti is incredibly fast, but needs to be brought under control. Think about how fast you can picture anything in your mind.....
  16. lol @ quavers! dhanasree: whey is ok.
  17. It was rubbish. They completely ignored the decades of oppression and unfairness that led up to Operation Blue Star. No mention of 'encounters' or 'disappearances' either. Worst of all, their portrayal of Sant Ji was totally wrong and one sided.
  18. Isn't is funny that drugs get through one of the most closely guarded borders in the world, yet try to get through with anything else and you'll be caught for sure.
  19. Well done to the Singh for doing the right thing. Waheguru kirpa rakhan.
