everything is different in every situation, so no point asking other people about such serious issues as they will only tell you their opinion. no its not invoking a devi, its about reading a story of a battle, Guru Ji's poetry of war moves and the language Guru Sahib has used gives u bir rass, not the devis and devtas, all sooo much lower than guru ji. We get the power direct from guru ji, not devi devte who have minute power compared to Guru Mahraj, Vaheguroo himself. The devi has no power to come and attack you as you are reading something written by guru gobind singh ji who would obviously place his protection over his sikh. I think it is just coincidence that you have only heard men's names, if any sexism exists it is cultural and not religious, many times has sikhi and panjabi culture clashed.

wow, guess naam simran isn't powerful enough to do the job *sarcasm*. and before anyone says anything about mool mantar being a seperate mantar from naam, well mool mantar and bani all purify you to be able to jap naam gurmantar!

gurbani teaches against worshipping shiva, ram and krishan or any gods. Worship only the one true lord, Vaheguru as explained in mool mantar. Chaupai Sahib says that people are foolish for thinking that shiva and Vaheguru are the same (not calling you foolish). Guru Nanak Dev Ji is NOT the same as Krishna or ram or any thing else. Guru Nanak Dev Ji is Nirankaar, i.e. Vaheguru/God. Vishnu is a creation of god, as are Shiva and Brahma. worship the creator is what gurbani tells us, worship of the creation (like these gods) leads only to more entanglements. Sikhi is about merger with Vaheguru and this can only be accomplished by becoming pleasing to him through worshipping him alone and with all your heart. Worshiping gods like Shiva are only karma and give you wordly rewards of maya only, leading to further births and deaths, taking you further away from Vaheguru.

fear leads to love. Love is the final stage where all fear is eradicated.
