  1. This is where whole thing started. Putting Dasam Granth like a shreek to Guru Granth. They are not different than Darshan Laal.
  2. Is that Kabir Bedi? What is he saying? Picture is too small to read.
  3. Truth is not patented. Shabad is eternal. Inclusion of Bhagat Bani is proof that truth existed before Gurus.
  4. In current times, Akaal Takhat is best representative of Panth Khasa. You can complain about liquor/intoxicants in election or influence of money, but truth is, Sikhs vote and elect Badal's party. If sikh voters can be bought with money or influenced with liquor, then parties other than Badal dal (e.g. Congress or Congress backed others) should win at least few seats. But their score is zero. I don't like Badal Dal, but reality is, he is chosen by majority panth, and sitting on Akaal Takhat are not some Dhirmallias or Minas, but people of Badal Dal.
  5. same reasoning can be used by both sides. darshan chand and party can claim that as per their view of Sikhism, parts of Dasam Granth are blasphemous statements against Guru.
  6. very good. important issues are Dharma, rule of law and what if rule of law contradicts Dharma? answers are very clear. Waheguru.
  7. ਏਹਿ ਸਜਣ ਮਿਲੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਜਿ ਆਪਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥ These friends are united, and will not be separated again; they have been united by the Creator Lord Himself. ~Guru Amardaas.
  8. reminded me of nastik punjabi comrades. they respect satguru nanak just because he preached equality. aa - hun! rang karter de.
  9. His words on Page 6 are, "Clearly these (Nirmalas and Udasis) modified Guru Granth Sahib again and again and started bad tradition of burning old birs." This guy is a nastik. He is worse than Raagi Darshan Singh. Problem is, he owns a media and large number of people read what he says. Anybody who makes claims of Gurbani being changed is biggest nindak of Guru. Some Vaishnavs here cliam that Singh Sabhias changed Gurbani, on the other hand these nastiks are blaming Nirmalas. Problem is they don't want to listen what Guru says and want to fit Gurbani into their own twisted ideas.
  10. Singho, question is good, but answer is even better.
  11. http://www.tribuneindia.com/2010/20100316/punjab.htm#5 Chandigarh, March 15 In a fresh twist to the reason behind the defeat of the Sikhs in the Anglo-Sikh wars after the death of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the former Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, in his book “The Last Sunset” claims that the Maharaja’s wife Rani Jindan was behind the defeat of the Sikhs. In a freewheeling interaction before the release of his book on the rise and fall of the Lahore Durbar here, Capt Amarinder Singh claimed that Rani Jindan contrived to make the Sikh army fight the British on unequal terms. He said the reason behind this was the increased importance taken on by the army after the death of Ranjit Singh. “The army, which had become republican in nature, had started dictating terms to the Durbar and this was not to Jindan’s liking,” he said. Amarinder, in a conversation at Barnala legislator Kewal Singh Dhillon’s residence, claimed that Jindan felt she would come out on top irrespective of who was the victor. He said keeping this in mind, Jindan made two persons from central India - Tej Singh and Lal Singh - who were not sikhs, incharge of the campaign. “Ironically all along the British knew about the exact positions of the Sikh army,” he added. Analyzing the defeat of the Sikhs in the Anglo-Sikh wars, Amarinder said the Sikh army, which did not have strategic planners on its side, was engaged against British officers who had fought at Wellington against Napolean. He said, moreover, the Sikhs did not have any attacking strategy. “They knew how to defend and funnily always chose to have a river behind them which proved disastrous once they were encircled,” he added. The writer also made it clear that the Dogras were also responsible for the ultimate defeat of the Lahore Durbar. “The Dogras withdrew whenever there was any confrontation but came back afterwards and this was also seen after the Sikhs received setbacks. Raja Gulab Singh was made Prime Minister but refused to fight and ultimately was successful in buying Kashmir from the Durbar for Rs 75 lakh.” Amarinder has also touched upon Ranjit Singh’s nature in his book and while talking about it, said the Maharaja could be very possessive and vindictive in personal life but large-hearted as far as running his administration was concerned. He claimed the Maharaja murdered his mother, Mai Raj Kaur on grounds of infidelity. He hinted this was one reason why the Phulkian States did not get along with Ranjit (Raj Kaur was from the Jind royal family). The writer while talking about his family’s experience with Ranjit Singh said the Maharaja came once to Patiala to ostensibly intercede in a quarrel between Patiala Maharaja Sahib Singh and his wife but really to access the “military might” of Patiala. He said the second time around Ranjit visited Patiala when the latter took over some villages from Nabha. “He (Ranjit) was all for taking us over and because of this the treaty of Samana whereby the cis Sutlej States accepted protectorate status from the British came about,” he added.
  12. He is infinite (ਅੰਨਤ) Lord. He is in accessible (ਅਗਮ). Whole range of heavens and hells is within Him. Experience could be 'nothingness', 'shivpuri', 'swarg', 'heaven', 'jannat' or even taste of virgins as per some interpretations. Consciousness is infinite. Physical consciousness is just a tiny part. Consciousness dictates matter. These heavens and hells are within consciousness. What is gained is result of effort of physical consciousness. As humans, physical consciousness has access to variety of emotions. It is whole specturm ranging from love, empathy, pity to lower level physical emotions like taste of toungue, sexual pleasures etc. Human birth is precious because we have capability of loving, which is the language of Beloved (ਭਾਖਿਆ ਭਾਉ ਅਪਾਰੁ). Eternal bliss is 'swarag' or avastha a Sikh aim for. Selfless love and longing for Lord (like a newly wed wife for husband or kids for father or rainbird for rain or chukvi duck for dawn or bumble-bee for lotus) is the key to reach Beloved. Approaching Akaal without any emotions at all and longing for Him using human emotion 'love', would it bring same result? Apparent difference would be 'nothingness' and 'eternal bliss' ( and anything can come out of infinite sub-consciousness). Does 'nothingness' mean Nirgun Brahamn or 'shoonya'? I don't know anything more than that and He knows all. I am very content with that.
  13. Gurmukho, What is Sat Naam (ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁ or ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ)? Is it Waheguru or names mentioned in Mool Mantar or all the names of Lord (Hari, Krishna, Ram, Allah, Parbraham and many more)? As per my limited understanding, Waheguru is Gurumantar. Names which comes after Sat Naam in Moolmantar are Sat Naam (true names) of His. These names represent Him as ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ. All other names like Hari, Karishna, Shiv, Bisan, Allah are just Sargun names. Karishna existed somewhere in time line and can't be a true name. Same can be said for other Sargun names. Please comment.
  14. Another pick and choose guy, 33 Swaiyye and Did Guru Nanak forgot to give the naam? They pick verses with Vaishnav name in it and ignore/reject the rest. They are worshipper of kritam names and krits of Kartar.
  15. ਜੋਗੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜੋਗੀਆ ॥ ਤੂੰ ਭੋਗੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਭੋਗੀਆ ॥ Difference is, Yogi realizes, it is only Him, nothing 'me'. Bhogi is mast in his false ego, ignorant of his mool, but still within Hukam. Even the pleasure seeking nature of Bhogi is within divine will. Satguru says ਇਕਨਾ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਇਕਿ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਸਦਾ ਭਵਾਈਅਹਿ ॥ No, it wont. Hardest battle to fight is to overcome haumai. Accepting Hukam is lethal blow to haumai. Life is not pointless. In this realm of Dharma, we jeev are here to earn Dharma. Our actions will be judged. That needs effort on our part (but again, only with His grace). Don't mix these two levels of understanding. First Hukam, then effort with Hukam. In short, effort without accepting Hukam will only add to our haumai.
  16. Singho, deewanagi should not stop... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQCuzHle2wM
  17. 1.We are always blessed. Important word here is 'righteousness', leave saving to Him, who sends saviours. 2.One who deserves to win, will win. In the war, it is effort on our part, to be tyar bar tyar and be better warrior. Both views look contradictory, but are not (for Khalsa). History is full of winners, but Khalsa has to be winner for the sake of righteousness.
  18. Signature of Satguru has to be there. Bhul chuk Maf.
  19. Kaal is binding this reality together. Nothing came before Kaal (except Akaal himself). You can't make stories of how Kaal is created or Kaal is son or daughter of anything. Before Kaal is beyond human comprehension.
  20. Kaal (TIME) is most powerful entity in this temporal reality. Every creation including all the devtay, avtaars, trimurti and multitudes of other incarnations etc are under its spell. Kaal is sargun manifestation of Akaal. Does anybody doubt it? Can anybody deny it? And Is it worth worshiping?
