She helped me explore the references to nature in Gurbani. She was a good soul. It's a shame I had to leave that forum when I started my journey into the DG.

I think this forum might be a bit 'high brow' too. No one else really looks at root sources of Sikhi like we do here attempting and evaluating translations. No one else really challenges entrenched narratives from the colonial period either. Maybe the traffic has decreased because the forum is a bit 'niche' like that?
When it comes to 'learning' I feel like most people just want to reinforce what they've always felt they've known anyway. Personally I can't even articulate how much my mind has been broadened with regard to my heritage from being on this forum. And that's between all the arguing and swearing some of us do here....lol

Her name was Antonio if I recall rightly. I think she was a real truth seeker and lover of bani.

Its a anti Dasam group and has been active since a few years now ..there is one self proclaimed Giani of Malaysia who is a croonie of the Spokesman group. One person who made sense was a American lady who died of cancer i believe a couple of years back probably.

Veer ji i am glad to share. I will try to find that katha of Hazur Sahib of Baba Jarnail Singh with the sari wali ladies as that was a really good katha mention.

I did make a back up of the katha that i posted on the other thread about radha somai as these videos are hard to find when needed.

Well I started a couple of days ago and once I started I felt peaceful and content I am quite hot tempered and that cooled too I was talking to an abyasee gursikh and there said that this shabad/ mantar is very powerful and will kills ones ego I that got me thinking that that is something I want I want to kill my ego and also once you start u do notice that it works pretty fast. So personally I have been doing 1 mala and gradually going to try and do sava lakh. I reccommend everybody to at least recite this mantar for 30 mins everyday.

So at the gurdwara today I saw this Singh and started doing vichar and he reccommended me to do gurmantar simran all the time but at least one mala of guru Gaitri mantar. So I'm going to stick to that when we do guru Gaitri mantar this gives us motivation to do more simran and this Gurmukh told me that gurmantar abhyaas is the most important but this gurmukh was advised to do 1 mala or 30 mins of guru Gaitri mantar he was advised by Mahapurakh and has told me to do the same so paapiman that's what I would do if you are starting off.

Do all the Gayatri Mantars have 24 letters in them? Is this one of the requirements of the mantar?

This is the Guru Gaitri...there are different Gayatri Mantars of different Devte. The formation of a a mantar in a specific way is referred as the Gaitri. The Vedic Gayatri Mantra and the Guru Gaitri are both referring to the Parmatma Waheguru.

Buddhism didnt have anything to do with Tantra until it intermingled with other Asian religions in Tibet and China where local religions practiced it . It is a fusion concept and included much later after the Buddha left his earthly form.

Thanks for all the replies I understand now that By chanting his name we will reach our destination. Waheguru simran is a must and the easiest possible way to get to mahraaj Jee. I was listening to giani thakur singh Katha and they have clearly said that and also the replies on this thread and have also made me understand. I appreciate everyone's replies. Giani Jee also said that one should at least do 30 mins abhyaas of Gaitri mantar because this creates the love devotion and motivation in ourselves to continuously do naam simran.

Also, ritualism was frowned upon during Buddha’s lifetime. He condemned blind faith and many other deceptive customs of the Brahmin priests. For more information visit this link below:

Thought so! Whoever translated the above excluded them in the translation. Again, we see that SIkh theme of being open and welcoming to all castes, including 'so-called shudurs' in this bani.

Just to throw this in the mix too.
I swear I saw a woodcut print of Harmandir Sahib (from the early colonial period I believe) where there were people spear-fishing from boats in the sarowar. Must try and find it again.

A HINDU RELIGION PARLIAMENT WAS ORGANISED BY MR. VIKRAM SINGH YADAV AT SHREE KRISHNA MANDIR, GURGAON WHERE MANY PROMINENT RELIGIOUS PERSONALITIES LIKE MAHAMANDLESHWARS, JAGADGURU SHANKRACHARYA ji PARTICIPATED. SIKHS WERE REPRESENTED BY NAMDHARI GURU THAKUR DALIP SINGH ji IN THIS VERY PARLIAMENT. SINCE THAKUR DALIP SINGH JI DEEMS HINDU SIKHS AS REAL BROTHERS WHICH CANNOT BE SEPARATED. HE MADE A CALL FOR HINDU SIKH UNITY TO ALL THE PARTICIPATING SAINTLY PERSONALITIES. THE PROMINENT ASPECT OF THE PARLIAMENT WAS THAT EVEN BEING A HINDU RELIGION PARLIAMENT, VOICES OF "JO BOLE SO NIHAL – SAT SRI AKAL", "WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA – WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH" REVERBRATED ALONG WITH "HAR HAR MAHADEV" & "JAI SHRI RAM" AT THE VENUE.

THE MAIN BENEFIT OF THAKUR DALIP SINGH PARTICIPATING IN THIS HINDU PARLIAMENT WAS THAT ALL THE PROMINENT HINDU RELIGIOUS PERSONALITIES TOOK THE NAMES OF SIKH GURUS WITH GREAT RESPECT & HEAPED PRAISES ON SIKH GURUS.

THAKUR DALIP SINGH JI MADE AVERY NICE PROPOSITION WHICH WAS ACCEPTED WITH GAIETY BY ALL PRESENT. THAKUR DALIP SINGH JI PROPOSED THAT THE "GURPURAB" CELEBRATIONS OF SATGURU NANAK DEV JI, SATGURU TEG BAHADUR JI & SATGURU GOBIND SINGH JI SHOULD BE CELEBRATED IN ALL HINDU ASHRAMS & TEMPLES. THIS PROPOSAL WAS ACCEPTED WITH GAIETY BY ALL PROMINENT HINDU SEERS AND THEY ASSURED THAT THEY WILL CELEBRATE "GURPURABS" OF SIKH GURUS.

THIS IS A VERY BIG ACHIEVEMENT FOR SIKH RELIGION. THE APPROVAL OF PROPOSITION SUGGESTING CELEBRATION OF "GURPURABS" BY PROMINENT HINDU SEERS & THEIR ASSURANCE FOR THE SAME PROVES THAT THOSE SIKHS WHO OPPOSE HINDUS BY DECLARING THEM "ANTI-SIKH" , IF THEY START TREATING THEM ( HINDUS ) WITH LOVE, THEN HINDUS WILL ALSO START PLACING FAITH IN SIKH GURUS. ONLY SIKHS ARE TRYING TO KEEP THE HINDUS AWAY. AS THAKUR DALIP SINGH JI IS BRINGING THE HINDUS CLOSER BY SHOWERING THEM WITH LOVE, THEY (HINDUS) WILL SOON START PLACING THEIR FAITH IN SIKH GURUS AND THIS WILL LEAD TO HINDU SIKH UNITY.

HINDU SIKH UNITY WILL FURTHER STRENGTHEN OUR NATION BECAUSE ONLY AND OND UNITY IN SOCIETY CAN MAKE A COUNTRY PROSPERROUS.

Would SWAT be able to help as well, since they do langar for the poor on the streets?
I have jhatka maryada on facebook so will try to get in touch.

Firstly, I think British school food should be neutral without any sacred food being served. Also please consider this topic for other countries which may have this issue, possibly Australia? Obviously this isn't a solution for schools in islamic countries!
However, as we know, some schools are forcing Halal meat.
So why don't we do a positive spin on this?
Since some schools are forcing sacred food from one religion onto students. Then why not demand langar in these schools as sikhs require their own sacred food in cases where neutral food is not available? We should seriously ask for this demand, as sacred food should not only be available for one minority.
Would be good if there was some kind of SACRED FOOD ACT / LAW  or AGREEMENT.
And since langar should not be commercial, it should be served by a sikh volunteer and should also be free, obviously open to donations. I think organisations like SWAT already have the infrastructure in place for serving langar in public. Would local gurdwaras be able to help and provide langar and volunteers for this?
The positive thing about this is that concept of langar gets out more in public, and educates young learning minds about sikhi traditions and community kitchens. And obviously anyone can partake of langar as it's free.
It would also be good if we can add jhatka langar in as well. Outside of Gurudwara jhatka langar mahaprasad is allowed. Obviously would need Singhs who knows jhatka rehit to help out in this
CAN WE HAVE SOMETHING TEMPORARY IN PLACE before the start of the NEW ACADEMIC YEAR in SEPTEMBER 2018? How can we get this out there?

Why have puratan sampradas abandoned these maryadas?
Gyani ji is reading from a granth, have any of the puratan samprada done complete analysis of these texts to see if they are authentic or not.  Also, all maryadas mentioned in Puratan granths should be compiled into a separate granth so we can have all the maryadas in one place.
