  1. Better yet do you have any of articles. Please pm me if you do. His illness has been one of the greatest losses to those devoted to learning history of the Khalsa and sangeet.
  2. This Amardeep Bassey better get his windows insured!
  3. ooh ooh! can i be the first to type obscenities under the videos of this evil person doing the Sangeet? btw I am a goodsikh and have like maha major respect for SHABAD-GURU all da way yo (it's wrong to not use 'Guru' before Granth Sahib but its not wrong to type curse words under videos of Gurbani yo!)! word! west side! yeah! down with the impostor Sikhs! brrrruahh!
  4. y is anyone surprised? These leaders 've done this since 1860's. then under british, now under the 'dusht hindu evil congress jhoothi sarkar'
  5. kam.. I'm sure u can get it from any Namdhari you know.. It comes in red package labeled 'Namdhari Chahta'. in usa yogi bhajan trade marked the formula he got from the Namdhari Chahta ppl of ludhiana and is selling them like hot coco under the brand 'Khalsa Chai' or something like that! maybe u can do that in the UK... don't forget to hide the source!
  6. Vinegar, I think he meant that 'tea' (not caffeine) was introduced into india by the british and was one of the main export and drink of the east india company and their punjabi chele at the time.
  7. Chaa, coffee, coca-cola and all the similar drinks with harmful artificial preservatives etc. is forbidden for Namdharis. LOL..Caffeine was invented by british... that statement is as flawed as N30's recent rant about the difference between Radhasoamis and Namdharis in support for shooting of darshan das...
  8. N30, this is very uncharacteristic of you. Is it really you or someone hacked your account? First endorsing shooting of darshan das and now just blindly 'guessing' a group for assasination. This type of blind presumption is what the khalistanis you despise usually use to label all those who didn't support their cause (even though they may have had absolutely nothing to do with the situation or supported neither side) to be 'anti-sikh'. Be careful, you may become that which you hate so much and not even know it.
  9. Well said Matheen. If only those who argue until cows come home with bahadur would realize the same, that for some muslims Guru Nanak was their Muslim Pir. Btw I hope I never condemn you for not calling Satguru Ram Singh 'Satguru' and demand that yu use the word 'Baba' instead or else I may become no different that those I equate with Mughals.
  10. here's another one I forgot to mention on the ridiculous list: 5) Ppl who live in a house that has a second floor or a basement cannot store or do parkash at the lower levels when there are people living on the upper floors, no matter how clean these rooms may be because it is 'lower' than the rest of the house. This will again 'instantly lower' the status of Gurbani for certain illiterate beings. Kind of scary how much these goodsikhs resemble the mughals in the way they 'demand' respect for their version of religion.
  11. From what's been instilled in me personally, beadbi of written form of Gurbani includes: 1) Not washing feet before sitting tabia. 2) if after going to jungle (toilet/number 2), not doing ishnaan before sitting tabia. 3) doing parkash without intent of reading Bani and without sitting tabia. Other than this, like N30 said, doing parkash in a place where people are smoking/drinking (not before or after parkash, but during) and the smoke or smell of alcohol is present at the time. Things that I don't consider beadbi but fanatics of today, having forgotten what their parents did, may not think so: 1) Transporting of written form of Gurbani in a clean, well packed suitcase (not along with shoes or dirty clothes etc.) 2) Reading of the written form of Gurbani by a non-sikh to the best of their knowledge of giving respect to scriptures. (i.e. some cultures don't cover their hair while reading scriptures). But if done knowingly, then ofcourse it is certainly beadbi. 3) old ppl or disabled being able to sit on a chair to listen to Gurbani or come to mathatek Gurbani in written form or sung form in a Gurdwara on a wheelchair. This will somehow 'instantly lower' the status of Gurbani for certain narrow minded tbt goodsikhs. Things that I find totally ridiculous for ppl campaigning for respect of Sikh scriptures: 1) not recognizing written form of Bani as 'living' and 'alive' is beadbi! 2) referring to written form of Gurbani as 'Granth SAHIB' is beadbi! 3) referring to GRANTH Sahib as a Holy BOOK/scripture is beadbi! 4) Not transporting Granth Sahibs in a chartered plane with individual seat for each Granth Sahib is beadbi! (This seems to be the latest trend). Just my 2 cents.. whether u asked for it or not.. lol.. later
  12. MKS's icon thingy reminds me of one of my school teacher eons ago.. btw welcome back drawsoff.. lol the joy of having a south indian teacher.. even south indian kids found it hilarious!
  13. This is a very good topic. So many times you hear people who know next to nothing (myself included) going on and on about a certain aspect of Gurbani or history. One of the examples that I can think of from top of my head is that Sikhs (and 'nonsikhs' like Namdharis alike) have gotten so bad that majority of us don't even know anything or have never heard in our lives about Guru Gobind Singh changing the tuk 'Neel Bastar Le Kapre Pehray' to 'Neel Bastar Le Kapre Pharay' as was a common knowledge in the time of writing 'Suraj Parkash' by Kavi Santokh Singh for example... This is such an important issue if you think about it that such a simple Sakhi and an important one too for that matter is not known to anyone in its complete picture.. I remember even great scholars like Shaheediyan had to ask me where it was written but I'm sure it maybe just to get me to provide the source to my claim which ofcourse I did... now sure someone like me with a twisted mind would speculate it is due to a certain establishment's effort to downplay such important topics but you can't not blame the general idea that you mentioned that "guruji will automatically bless u wiv knowledge yo! don't sweat it!" type of mentality. This just leads people on a path of being ignorant. Good topic.. hope more people will participate and especially with points about the reliablility of each Granth. Just a small thing I want to add, In atleast one of the Granths mentioned in the list,Mahima Parkash to be exact, the foreword itself says it is quite unreliable if I'm not mistaken, Been a long time, sorry, so such a source should be compared with others thoroughly.
  14. There's another version that has become quite popular among certain groups and I've heard it since the 70's: Sikhism is the realization of 'Shabad Guru'. This realization started only with Guru Nanak. All the Gurus were merely messengers or vessels of this 'Shabad Guru' and they have revealed 'Shabad Guru' to the world. 'Shabad Guru' existed even before the universe and is the 'Real' Guru. The tenth Guru realized this and made 'Shabad Guru' the eternal Guru.

Actually Niranjana, if you try to answer the question I've posted, you will get the answer to the original question. The answer is ofcourse: It depends on the individual circumstance and committee members of the Gurdwara's decision on a case by case status the same way sometimes 'non-sikhs' are allowed to do Kirtan in Gurdwaras and sometimes not. Same applies to the reasoning behind Namdharis' acceptance of musical knowledge from Islamic/Hindu/Singh Sabhia sources who have preserved Hindustani Sangeet with the difference being that Namdharis are not 'Sikhs' in the political sense (i.e. sgpc approved) and do not have the 'debates' on who can or cannot do Kirtan in their Darbars.

Speaking of hypocrites, how come there are audios of the decendant of Bhai Mardana who is a MUSLIM (and praises the name of Allah numerous times when giving discourse before doing kirtan) allowed to perform in Gurdwaras? This is available at kertan.org I believe. I thought only tbt goodsikhs who believe in ONLY 10 Gurus and Granth Sahibji ONLY (No Bhagwan Ram, no Allah) are allowed to do Kirtan in a Gurdwara? Also notably these are the same people who speak out against Sanatan Sikhs for practicing caste discrimination and yet it is ok for them to discriminate (or not discriminate when the celebrity is popular enough) against people who perform Kirtan in Gurdwaras. The quote from Gurbani they like to use is 'Manas Ki Sabh Ekai Jaat Pehchanbo' and yet when needed they can exclude certain ppl from being humanbeings altogether! Back to the topic, keeping in mind the problems between the 2 communities in the uk, I think for security reasons the muslim women should not be wearing burka when entering a Gurdwara or temple or church. It just makes people uncomfortable. Or perhaps she should be checked out by a woman sevadar separately first before being allowed in?
  17. I'm sorry tony I did not know this 'author-less' document and the pint size 'suraj parkash' were so important to your beliefs.
  18. "The instruction to study the bani of all the Gurus indicate two things: Guru Gobind Singh's religious bani was to be treated at par with the bani of other Gurus. Although some Gurus did not contribute any bani, all the ten Gurus were to be treated as one in spirit and the Guru Granth was to be the embodiment of the Spirit of all the ten Gurus." assume much Dr. Trilochan Singh? To me it rather sounds illiterate when everyone knows there is no Bani of 4 out of 10 Gurus in the Sri Aad Granth Sahib. This document could have been anything including a note pad early singh sabha writers used to try to recreate historical events the same way there was a cliff's note size Suraj Parkash published by SGPC. They should be put together on display at Ripley's believe it or not!
  19. Bikarmi calendar was named after a great Indian Raja. his name was 'vikram...' something.. wikipedia has a decent article on this. The calculation is infact gregorian+57 years to get to the correct samvat.
  20. oh and least legible posts: it's a tie between vijaydeep and jassasingh for me.
  21. I personally am currently a fan of w-bol's writings. They are a great read. I no longer flip through the comics page of my newspaper when I am stressed out anymore! Also my other favourite poster is mr. chatanga with his infamous "this is new to me" quote. Always gets me, that one! Guess I should also mention the old timers: t-singh, niranjana and freed (in no particular order!) Least entertaining would be javanmard, kam1825, N30 and shaheediyan. Sorry, just my opinion. Wonder if someone can make a poll for this.
  22. w-bol u just confirmed niranjana's point that prolonged usage of incorrect words corrupts the language. Its good that you are intelligent enough to understand exactly what karmjeet meant but there are (quite a few) people who're not drinking out of the same cup as u and karmjeet so it will be good if you spare them the confusion. So shouldn't you be more careful when choosing your words? Think about it.
  23. Tony should be proud. His bani is being quoted left and right! LOL On a serious note I personally feel its a good thing to have such an organization so that more people are aware who the bearded and turbaned people are. Doing so while helping others is just bonus points. Sure money may be spent on non-sikhs, yet at the same if it is given to a so-called "Sikh cause" then there will be arguments that it was only given to 'jatt-sikhs' or 'non-jatt sikhs' or they are 'fake sikhs' LOL... and don't be surprised to hear these 5-year kind of thinking coming from 40 something jathedars! Bottom line is everyone knows giving charity via an organization doesnt reach the needy directly, by the time it gets there they'd be lucky to get a significant portion of it. Bill Gates is donating trillians yet people don't have clothes in Africa, how can that happen? It's a risk donating to organizations but then again if you do it out of 'sharda' and the donation doesn't cause you financial pain, then by all means do it.
