  1. Can the sangat share any more techniques please? Also with the different techniques how would you use them? i mean would you do simran with your tongue for 10 mins, then in your throat for 10 mins, then your heart, followed by simran from nabhi through to the forhead etc? Or is better to do one at a time?
  2. Sorry if this is in the wrong section. But does anybody know where i can get kirtan done in the qwalli style? I know there is a few shabads done by chand afzal on rajkaregakhalsa.net but does anybody know of anymore? also is there anything similar to this style in gurmat sangeet?in either guru granth sahib ji or dasam granth sahib ji or anywhere else?
  3. Singh the inside ishnaan of darbar is meant to be gupt isnt it? Your only allowed in if you meet the rules, maybe you shouldnt post pics of it up on the internet ...
  4. have you noticed how recently almost silenty a whole lot more people have started to accept dasam granth sahib ji as gurbani? or maybe its just that the nindaks have gone a bit quieter - generally speaking
  5. These modern day sikhs are too violent and think murder is ok. Not like the olden days, I mean violence has never occured in sikh history at all and sikhs have never murdered anyone ever. Not even massa ranghar. I heard he died because Methab Singh told him off, true sikhs wouldnt murder anyone would they. Especially as it was against the law at the time to kill a government official. Damn these crazy murderous sikhs! Lets all buy dasies and make pretty little chains!!
  6. Please also have a quick look at the link below. http://www.bharatvani.org/books/ohrr/ch07.htm I cannot account for the source as it links from the 'voice of india' website and the book in question is 'on hinduism reviews and reflections' however this is an interesting section in this chapter which i have quoted below I feel the last comment in bold is a particularly nasty kick to the midsection in its painful but very truthful nature!! So in addition to the texts in the post above, this article believes that older sikhs also studied the tenth Guru's Panj Ekadash, Bhagvat, Tulsi Ramayana, Vishnu Purana, Pingal (10 parts), Ashwa Medha, Adhyatma Ramayana, Vichara Sagar, Moksha Pantha, Surya Prakash, the sixth Guru's Guru Vilas, Vashishtha Purana, and Daswan Askandha again please could anyone provide any further info???!!?
  7. One of the main problems we face as Sikhs today is our lack of knowledge on Gurbani. Given that gurbani is the very source of our existence, its not a good position to be in. Many of us have become sikhs of 'sikhi to the max' and not neccesarily sikhs of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. While we may be able to sing all night and give literal translations to the more popular shabads sang at rehnsbhai's, our depth of understanding doesnt seem to go much further. One of the reasons why is because we have stopped reading. Many will now say that you dont need to read teekeh and old granths, and that if guru ji wants he will bless you with understanding of the shabads. Seems strange why the elder sikhs therefore felt the need to read these pothia, wheras the modern super sikh will simply get blessed with understanding from the guru. I found this list on the internet and it is said that these are the books/pothia/granths read and studied and in many cases made kanth by Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji Bhindranwale. SIKHISM Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Sri Dasam Granth Sri Sarbloh Granth Bhai Gurdas Diyan Vaaran’ Bhai Gurdas Kabit Svaiya Sri Nanak Prakash Siri Guru Pratap Suraj Granth Parbodh Chander Natak Bhagat Bani Panj Granthi Das Granthi Mehima Parkash Bhavrasamrit SANATAN Bhagawant Gita Balmiki Ramayan Tulsi Ramayan Mahabharat Rig, Yujar, Sham and Atharvan Ved Gurar Puran Yog Vashisht Markanday Puran Hanuman Natak Vairag Shatak Sarkutavali Vichar Sagar Bavikhat Puran ISLAM BHai Nand Lal Zindageenama Bhai Nand Lal Gazla Bhai Nand Lal Rubaiyat Bhai Nand Lal Jindagee Nama The Koran The Anjeel Parasbhag Masnavi Bhakh As many of us, including myself have never even heard of a large number of the above, please could somebody perhaps provide a bit more information on them? Could you also shed a bit more light on whether the sikhs of yesteryear did actually study these texts and when and why the sikhs have in general lost this knowledge. Many thanks
  8. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh In the Sri Dasam Granth senchiya the shastar naam mala is approx 80 ang long. In comparison akal ustat ji is approx 24 ang long i believe. Becuase of this length as our brother said above, you wont get all of it into a gutka sahib. The best thing would be to buy the dasam granth senchiya and the steek by pandit narayan singh ji. the taksal senchiya and in larivaar while the sgpc ones are in padh ched form. so again make your choice there. With the ucharan you will find that different singhs in different places will read the path differently! this all depends on who their ustad was as each ustad will have taught it slightly differently. Reason is that the puratan birs have some small differences in them and as there hasn't been as much time spent on dasam granth santhia as on guru granth sahib ji santhia, the differences remain. however the taksali singhs have identified this as something to deal with in the future as and when they can. chances are that all the dasam granth experts will sit down together and come to comclusions on the correct ucharan, but dont hold your breath as this is difficult stuff! Generally the arth or meanings will remain the same even if the ucharan itself is slightly different. In any case unless the katahvachak or granthi singh is very learned, they will simply read the line in front of them and may not remember the changes that they may have been taught themselves.
