  1. Be Humble. Stay low..............stop trying to fit in with the rest of them.
  2. Totally agree! Maya is BOTH physical and subtle. The akj technique above is a complete forced and altered state of consciousness. It is in no way the goal of simran. It can be very misleading, if one thinks that it is some divine joyous state. There is only ONE benefit by doing fast paced jap in kirtan, and that is to help ''Dhrir'' the gurmantar into the mind. It's like hammering it inside your mind at a rapid rate. It can help in preparing and paving the way for deeper simran in sehaj and towards 'one-ness' Occasional listening and participating in fast paced jap helps in smacking our corrupted, jumping minds......but that's it...it's a preparation. The very rapid shallow breaths and chanting gurmantar leads to states of hypoxia- which is a drop in blood oxygen. This also causes states of euphoria, tranquility and overconfidence. A lot of them will claim they experienced the ''anand''..in the smagam...But this is NOT the anand of gurmat.....Don't be fooled by this! It is just a temporary forced technique,..........the same techniques used by cult leaders all over the world, where they get crowds of followers going into elevated states via rapid chanting! The goal of simran is to get into the states of complete stillness because that is the only way the absorption and samadhi can occur. That's when you discover true 'Anand'.. when the body is physically still but your sukham sareer is jagat and universally active with the whole cosmic consciousness.
  3. You need to start monitoring your thoughts ! Thoughts -->> Intentions --->> Actions Ask yourself--where, what, which thought provoked the fire within ? slowly...and gradually...you will be able to address most of your own daily krodh surges. It may seem real tricky at first, but once you get into the swing of it...you should be able to divert that same energy towards self spiritual gains.. The same technique can also be used for Kaam as well.
  4. Garlic is good stuff. You can have some really good quality garlic with high concentration of allicin, or you can have some not so good garlic-with very low allicin yield. It's the allicin that defines it's good qualities......eat it raw with a glass of water
  5. The dancing happens inside the Mind
  6. You should really sit with your hip-bones higher than your knees. Use a couple of cushions to do this, even if you are sitting on the bed. You should be able to manage a lot longer periods. On good days, I can manage about 3 hrs quite easily, providing I stretch major leg muscles before hand.
  7. Many mythological tales are mentioned in gurbani, but the gurmat wasn't always interpreted or portrayed by brahmin masses...Instead people found it easier to understand deities....and that's the way it went! Anyway, my take on both Prahlaad and Naamdayv(elephant story)....is about 'Naam' and 'shabad' Prahlaad, at that young age of 5, realized to jap naam(hari)....he had awakened to the One formless -nirgun lord..If I remember correctly, his father demands to know where is this god of yours? ..and Prahlaad replies he is everywhere and in everything. Naamdayv also japped naam of hari and, and found the lord's mansion within himself. Gurmat messages of non-dual, formless, Truth....are there, but another important point from both of these...is that when one begins the journey of bhagti within...then they will get naam, they will get shabad,...they will overcome dualistic powers and they will begin to see the advait Waheguru within everything and everyone.......they,themselves will virtuallybe merging into the reality of Ek onkar. However, gurbani tells us and warns us that those bhagats that take the path have to prove their devotion. They get naam, they get darshan/prakash, they get to experience the expanse of Gobind.....but they will still face obstacles...still face the tests.....every kind of brick wall can be put up in front of them and even the dead end walls of death come at the very end.. just as Prahlaad and Naamdayv encountered. Waheguru wants to see if they continue to worship the same formless even if they can face the ultimate challenge of death...to see if they still NEVER demand that some thing saves them, but continue to worship the nirgun Truth..........AND that's when it happens.....Waheguru takes Sargun form and saves his devotee in front of everyone! He blesses and saves the one who can prove their love with the ultimate prices.
  8. I wouldn't say that it's about being annoyed...but it's time to move on........maybe do some serious taksali discussions on gurbani, as N30 suggests above. I said earlier that Paapiman seems quite young and we elders know that he will learn much more with age and time. Some of us may or may not agree with his statements...but I must say that I like the fact that he STRONGLY stands up for what he believes is right!....... I have probably giggled at his persistence and some of his arguments, but he firmly believes what he knows as the truth and he gives it his utmost to defend it. In doing so, I haven't seen him go nutty or abusive like many other posters do! We are all humans and we all have different qualities, strengths and weaknesses......But we do need young sikhs with these 'sher' like qualities....young sikhs that fight for what they believe is right,..what they believe is the truth......and especially in today's time when we have the realistic threat of extremists/terrorists in the name of Islam, trying to take over the world. So, Paapiman...after seeing your little dramas on here...I can't help but say that..I admire your strength and persistence,... even though I may or may not agree. All I can say is that you will begin to see things in a different light once you experience them...... things like marriage, women, bowing-respect. fatherhood, responsibilities......etc....and you will even,. hopefully,... one day realize that the sexual energies of lust and intimacy can be diverted towards the divine rather than our ego's (I know you won't get this yet!) Don't assume that many of these abilities require high avasthas and are out of your reach. We can all reach them...we all have the same God/soul/jiva/jyot within us...problem is our Mind's and dhuts mask it and think they own it! You always have to be prepared to learn more and that means to learn from our own mistakes. You should never just read a book and close it, thinking...that's it...i know it!......You have to leave it open and leave more room..... Only HUKAM closes the book and says ''That's it...times up..... let's see the lekha and kamayee" BTW.... I think you would make a good lawyer, because you'd be good at defending the theory you have available........but I probably wouldn't suggest anything like sales or trades..as you may find it uneasy to modify and conform to customer/consumer demands Time to move on!
  9. Two people have to decide if they want to marry each other... it's not up to paapiman himself No hard feelings dude,,,,Just joking.. I can tell your quite young. We all live through those years where we think we know it...but life teaches you more as you age...more than you can ever try teaching yourself ! Just take it one step at a time and don't try to grow up too fast.....and you should be ok!
  10. and those that understand that...will know that it is one of the greatest honors!
  11. Exactly........Why waste all your energy on these arguments. No one is winning, and no one ever will...........instead ALL just leave themselves spiritually drained.
  12. Excellent stuff Sukrit ji Some very valuable information is there. Whilst reading, It reminded me about the importance gurbani places on the 9 gates/openings and the 10th hidden dwar. It is very much believed that the soul leaves the body through any of the 9 openings at death and people with sixth sense have witnessed this and sometimes even a physical incident occurs at the same time such as discharge from mouth, nose, feces... ears.... However, Guru Nanak ji has strongly advised the sikh to open the hidden 10th gate.... Seriously, we should work at making sure we leave via that hidden door and not any of the nine. Also below is a very good foreign video about the jamdoots coming to get you and what happens. I first saw it at a sikh camp because the depiction is very close to what gurbani says....and there are nearly 400 tuks that talk about the jamdoots--->and remember Gurbani is the Truth! There is no permanent hell as such, but if you end up in this kind of place...you don't leave until you realise and awaken to all your wrongs and this also includes emotional attachment to maya. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=n8olHQMlBJo
  13. No. Singh Ji....I am a firm believer in Raagmala. There are some very strong reasons why it was included.
  14. Gurbani tells us about spiritual avasthas of bhagats and kings like janak... and how far they got. They were all out of lakh chaurasi and cycle of rebirths. The degree of gurbani distortion as shown by sikhkhoj is just unexplainable and a way lot more than I previously imagined. I have absolutely no interest in a discussion of praising or doing nindya of ddt.....They are what they are... and they don't inspire me. Taksal means ''offcial mint'' just like money, coins or a dollar bill isn't genuine or official unless it has been endorsed with seal of mint. It can be seen with the distortions and claims, that ddt is not the official gurmat as it claims. The only offical seal in gurmat, is that by Guru Arjan Dev ji's Mundavani in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. Guruji sealed the gurbani for each individual soul to understand and apply to themselves as they progress themselves in sikhi. He also authorized the "Kunjhi(key)" of Bhai Gurdas jee's vaars, which we can openly use to cross reference and gain deeper understandings of bani. He didn't leave it for any taksals or other authorities, to dictate it's meaning, just as sanskrit vedic texts were left for brahmin castes.
  15. It's not exactly a transition period,... this is about love and attachment and not every soul experiences this. Some say that it's about 10 days or so...and some say that it's the 40 days..............But it's one of the main reasons why we shouldn't mourn and beg for the deceased to come back. ....You have to let them move on. If the mourners and the person passed away show too much 'moh' such that it's energy overpowers the other energies, then the soul can get stuck/trapped/confused in this astral zone here and be unable to move on until it realizes. I often see theses scenarios on that ''long island medium show'. These souls don't have a strong inner light, so then they don't experience the stronger pull towards the light. Your father on the other hand, felt the love and power of the light, which is why he would have moved on, and that riddi siddi long island medium, wouldn't be able to contact him! The 'transition period', like I said, is not experienced by everyone. The bad souls, who the jamdoots come and get don't get such transition zones or feel any light. The jiva's with a strong light energy within their souls can get the opportunity to clarify and sort out a few loose ends with loved ones. It's as if they have this extra earned energy that can only be used in this realm or left behind.. The car alarm's going off was your father's earth realm energy being left amongst us before he made his definite move towards the light direction. So that energy got dissipated amongst vehicle electronics and it would probably have been the last physical incident of some sort of presence or may be something else may have occurred as well around that few hours time period. It's quite common to experience lights blowing, power surges and sometimes even unfinished ardaas of donation that may have been 'sukhiyo' before the death, can make surprise appearances! This way the person goes with their lekha without any unresolved karams left.
  16. Just to mention guys.....You know that you can bring in the elements of sports to help with meditation and mind control ?? It's specific sports where you are actually needing a SINGLE-MIND FOCUS. Let's say something simple like shooting basketball hoops------>>>>Here what you do in effect is,...keep your complete dhian of mind on the single hoop...goal is to get the ball in the basket.......at the moment you come close to taking the shot--->>>.you disconnect from all the distractions around you.---->>>in those moments, your mind is in a single focus meditative state !! Another, very important one is 'shooting' or target practice. I realized from watching the American Sniper movie of how he describes the "shot" in the movie. He says that you take the aim-->complete focus on target---->>even having to remove distractions of what kind of person target is ----> then, to get ready ---->>be VERY STILL and STEADY....having dhian of only the target at the forefront and disconnecting everything else. ---->>>HOLD the BREATH ----->and BANG, pull the trigger ! It made me realize the importance of the precision and mind control involved for a sniper. A good sniper would be good at meditation and in US sniper training, many of them attend yoga/meditation classes in order to get the Mind aspects under control........Can you imagine these big hard-knock, tattooed dudes in green combats doing yoga?...lol.. Guru Gobind Singh ji and singhs of the time were excellent with skills like archery and shooting arrows with precision. We should understand how mind meditation complements this skill.
  17. Interesting! Some of you may be aware that I had experienced a NDE and was in a coma for nearly a month...but I don't go into details on an open forum. This guy was talking about it just after a year... but in all honesty...it takes more than a few years to put all the pieces together and understand it. I can usually comprehend the genuine NDE descriptions,so I will give my opinion on this one....and it is fairly genuine, except that I think he hasn't fully understood and realized yet ! My opinion is that he did come from one of the heavenly realms before his life on earth. The fact, that in this life, he rejected God, the power, the divine...... is why he was susceptible to all the darker and negative energies which accounted for his numerous illnesses. The easiest way to think of how these energies work is to think of your 'SOUL' or God energy as that which exists as a white light. The more attached to God and the more God realized ---->>then the brighter and stronger the energy of this white light. Stronger white light in a body---->>>makes the body less susceptible to energies of dark light... this also means poot, pret, jantar mantar, curses, black magic...and all that.... are less likely to affect such body. Then on the other hand, if a person has hardly any white divine light in them---->>> then, their bodies are more likely to be consumed by the darker and depriving energies of ill health, disease, depression...and even suicide. Think of "GU-RU"...from darkness to light ! He witnessed the Cosmic arrangement and from what he was trying to explain as really fast travel--->>>was about the real ''interstellar'' cosmic shift through light years of space in no concept of time!... 5th dimension! This is how "Gobind"-(Lord of the Universe)....shows you what your existence really is. It is tailored for each individual, which is why, No two experiences are ever exactly the same !.... OR they wouldn't be called experiences. He said that wherever he was, "in this valley"... he felt comfortable and at home to say!....... that's because he had come from there originally, which means he was already out of lakh chaurasi before birth! (not sure if some of you will get this...can explain later) Basically, the only way that he could move up from any of those heavens to sachkhand.. was by taking birth as a human again.... and from some of the heaven loks, you can actually do this by choice or will. Human birth-existence, means---->>> live out or bhog your karams,, which are basically the weight that hold you into a realm. However, his denial and complete lack of dharam (one of the four padaraths)----->>> predisposed him to the darker energies of ill-being and ill health. But the biggie for him was the Blessing of GRACE and KIRPA by Akaal Purakh..........so that he got another chance to complete his duties. This is HUKAM--->>>None of us can ever explain how or why. This is what happens when you get thrown back into lack chaurasi again......the jamdoots come and club you with the iron dhandey, tie you up in shackles and lead you away as Kabirji says in gurbani. You see, this guy was already out of the lack chaurasi from his previous janam, which is why he went straight into some lower/middle heaven lok--->>>since, he cam from there originally. The other point is that as Guru Tegh Bahadurji describes...."This janam and life is just like a dream, when we wake up(which is when we die),-->> we realize that none of this life was real." If you just imagine that when you are in a dream---->>It all seems quite real when you are in it...the people,.....the interactions,.... everything.... will seem like a reality in the dream state...... But, when you wake up-->>You realize that it wasn't real after all,.... it was just a dream, and now you are in the reality...dam-gotta getup in 30 mins and go to work In the same manner,.... Death is like the waking up from this matrix illusion. A reason why there is a difference within NDE descriptions is,.. because it depends on what and where you were from in previous janams. Lakh chaurasi is the complete universal cycle and then there are all the heaven loks that go from lower to higher realms but there are some levels after which you cannot ascend unless you have human birth. The ascension within realms can happen, but this is in the ones where jamdoots take you, where you have to realize, learn and accept all your dark wrongdoings. So for eg,, you may end up in the dark pit of where all the murderer jivas are.... You will enjoy their company until you realise, accept and learn your own shortcomings and sin of murdering.....in doing so, you will be able to rise above the rest, as your inner light will get brighter.... then you move on to the next lessons.....and so on..... The MAIN point that I can stress is that, when a soul jiva is in this Human Life form---->>> This is it's only chance to jap, meditate, get the one-pointed awareness......so that it can go straight --->>> Sachkhand. The Direct one way plane ticket that Guru Nanak Ji has taught us-->>Nanak naam jahaz hai In the Video, Mr Jaswal has got some idea about his mind-no thoughts-...etc...because he mentioned it a few times....But he hasn't quite said that he has deciphered the message that he must Jap and meditate. This is why he was given the second chance. As I stated above, I don't go into details about my NDE on an open forum, but I can tell you all that the main message and duty that I came back for was ...Jap, Simran ..and bhagti on His Name. That was the ONLY thing I knew I had to do but I had never done it previously. In fact, I was never even spiritually inclined in any way.........so it took me a couple of years to work out how to get going and do bhagti. The Dhan/Wealth of Naam is only carried forward from this realm of human life. Sat Sri Akaal
  18. What does this scientific evidence show?? That women have more neurons and receptors for taste, smell, sound , vision and touch.............But what does this have to do with Lust/Kaam ? you thinking about erogenous zones ?? It's us men that get attacked by the dhut of kaam with our unexpected risings of genitalia in the early hours of mornings!. I know that women don't wake up with auto stimulated genitalia every 6am! ......lol.. Many of us have no idea what you are trying to prove paapiman....
  19. That's good. Pranayama are breathing exercises that are ideal in preparing one for Deep meditation and on the plus side, they also have their own benefits. Some of you maybe aware that I've been practicing kundalini yoga for a few years now. I find that it helps me maintain a baseline of "Balanced Energies" as well as contributing to general well-being. I wrote about some of it's positive effects for me some time ago in the meditation thread...... I also go to gym to do cardio about 2-4 times/week and pool sessions with sauna and steam room. Whilst there, I am usually listening to simran jaap, or some kirtan at the right pace to go with being on the ellipticals or treadmills. In the sauna and steam rooms, I am always sat there doing internal jap at all opportunities. ......and seriously, (for paapiman!)...because of my minds state of trying to stay connected to jap, whilst at the same time, my physical state may be sweating it out .......I will keep my head down and avoid direct eye contact with females at nearly all times..... and believe me, there are plenty of bikin clad women around in the pools and very often, groups of college cheerleaders doing their gym workouts, girls basketball teams....swim teams.......etc......and YET, I have NEVER had any problems of kaam coming before my mind's eyes! ......and this has nothing to do with avasta...it's all about disciplining yourself. This should quite easily be second nature for any sikh that understands the real significance of rehat.
  20. It actually doesn't mean womaniser ? It's because the message is as if, God is telling Farid about the body pleasures....but the message has NO differentiation between Man's or Women's pleasures ! Can paapiman actually think for himself, or does he have to rely on what someone else has written ? Isn't that called 'blind faith' ?
  21. Simple message is that "The body that enjoys these bodily pleasures will die" The pleasures of love that you can have for the lord, are eternal.
  22. Too right bro! You have to practice and experience the Truth by practical approaches per self and per soul. It's no good debating and arguing the truth if you've never even made the decent efforts to try and merge with Sat....to experience His presence....to feel his divine love... When you do it with your truest intentions...you will automatically rise above these debates and arguments....you will rise above both Ustat and Nindya.......you will realize just how much life and breaths you have wasted arguing over what you thought was the truth. You will realize just how clever those 'peredhaar'....the panj dhuts, kram, krodh, lobh, moh,and ahankar are in the trickery they use to fool you! You can waste your whole life praising and debating over the glories of your jatha, but it won't take you anywhere near the Truth, unless you try and practice it. Does the truth, the Sat...talk and justify itself ? or do the 5 dhuts, the peredhaars of your mind... fool you so well into thinking that they are the truth? You know guys..... sikhi is about finding this out for yourselves....per individual person...per soul.
  23. That's OK...don't worry, because sometimes, it may not be practical or possible. My core simran is usually anytime between 2am-5am.....when everyone is asleep and it's quiet, and I'm careful not to wake others up. Doing quiet and silent jap is absolutely fine, but I would recommend doing the upward tongue roll to roof of mouth with ""Gu-Rrrru" ... you can still incorporate the very quiet "gu-Rruuu" whilst just taking a saas inwards for "wahe". This way the actual 'word' or mantra gets completed by the action of the tongue touching the roof of the mouth..... So, going from the navel and up to the roof of mouth and back down again, a cycle of circular repetition is formed within the body and this also contributes to the beginning of amrit russ. Most mantras are used as tools in this way, so that they complete their cycle when the tongue contacts the roof of the mouth. ..for eg....ram..hari...satnam..so-hang...Amen... If it still not possible to do this, then don't worry either, because doing simran in the mind is what everything is aimed at. If you are able to, then you can start off by doing quiet simran itself from the beginning. But, I think you still need to have some kind of movement (breath, navel or even mala) that maintains that same cycle of jap.......and my wife has done it quite well in this manner.
  24. Yeh, the sound of insects, crickets or chirping are some of the activating sounds that you hear earlier. Some people have reported buzzing as well. These sounds are all very subtle sounds that happen when the chakras are aligning. The unique beauty of gurmantar jap is that they will align in order automatically, as compared to how yoga likes using different mantras for each chakra.......The end goal is still the same. However, as far as I understand, with gurmantar jap it is important to keep the techniques described as per saas graas and saas saas.....so that the dhun is from the area of navel up towards mouth.. With this combination of techniques along with gurmantar, the rising of the sukhmana- which is a straight and central nadi going all the way up, will begin. You have to keep reminding yourself to try and ignore them and keep the focus on gurmantar. Don't get caught up with the sounds...just take them as signals, and say to yourself "OK..that was crickets I heard, now I shall continue moving on" Then try and forget that instance and bring focus back on to jap. Sometimes the sounds can be just occasional instances, other times they may continue and continue, and then other times you don't even realize that they are in the background, until your dhian comes off the jap towards the end of your session. Just continue with this self-discipline and it shouldn't be long until the anhad naad begins to appear.
